I am going on MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. I offered you an opportunity to give yours as well... so if you disagree, give your own example instead of just saying that I'm wrong.
I want to know your opinions on the subjects. That is the point of the thread.
ET had what, 5 people working on it for like a week.
I still thinks it's fun.

Opinions.
...which I happen to share.
Indeed! I got the first in the series and just couldn't accept that some puzzles are so poorly presented that the only chance of "solving" them is guessing the answer. I'll give Puzzle Agent a try instead since I trust Telltale more.
Its not like I said they suck, I just said that they are highly overrated. They are put on a pedestal & in many people's minds they are put on it so high that it is to the point that everything sucks by comparison to them... which is both untrue & unfair.
ALSO....
I thought of that one too... I just didn't feel like finding more pics at the time LOL
Action RPG Franchise
Over- Kingdom Hearts
Under- The Tales Series
EDIT: Seriously though, I don't see much of a point in this thread other than to troll and/or be pretentious for the sake of being pretentious. I would like to hear why you think Street Fighter is overrated and King of Fighters is underrated, though. I like both series, although in terms of latest inputs, SSFIV is definitely faaar better than KoF12.
EDIT2: And I wouldn't really consider the Tales games Action RPGs either, at least not to the same extent that Kingdom Hearts is.
People wonder why I'm so angry all the time... well look at DoctorCello's post. I mean how is this any different from the countless other threads where people talk about underrated things? I just combined them all into a thread that I thought might be fun for people.
I'm truly sorry if you are offended by my posts, but at the same time I 'm willing to bet that YOU aren't sorry for starting this thread

You would realise that I don't think that Street Fighter sucks... in fact it is my favorite fighting series. All I'm saying is that it is put on a pedestal as the greatest fighting series ever made & alot of fighting fans believe that nothing can come close to touching it. Which results in amazing games like King of Fighters often being overlooked.... which is just ridiculous.
The Tales Series are not action RPGs? Well that is honestly the first time I have ever heard that... reviewers call them action RPGs, fans call them action RPGs, The company itself even calls them action RPGs.
I would like to stress that this thread was in no way meant as an insult to any of these games (Minus ET & Sonic '06) or any fans of them... so if any of you took offense to my opinions, then I don't know what to say but I am TRULY sorry.

Power Metal Band
Over- Dragonforce

Under- Cellador
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X7hr-Ky8tg
In truth, I don't like a whole lot of power metal, but Cellador is a pretty awesome & TOTALLY UNDERRATED band.
Going further with the truth, I REALLY wanted to put Edguy... but they really only have a few scattered power metal songs. Still they are AMAZING & one of my top 15 favorite bands.
That's how I felt about NFS. If anything GT is underrated compared to Nee dfor Speed. Everyone I've ever met hates GT and loves Need For Speed.
True. I think people putting too much focus on something being popular to play it is a shame. Like all my friends say I hate Halo because it's popular, when I simply prefer CS 1.6, DoD(S), Half-Life, Prey, Duke Nukem, MW, and TF2. Yet they always try to say I hate it despite it being popular, except all those games were/are (Prey is disputible but it did sell out on STEAM) popular.
I would like to say for fighting games though: Street Fighter for over rated and BlazBlue for under.
& I'm all for that... I like both mainstream & underground stuff. As a matter of fact I like almost everything that I said was overrated.
The point of this thread is to compare & contrast as if to say "well you like this super mainstream thing, so why don't you give this thing of lesser mainstream value a chance". It isn't meant as an attack on any of your personal tastes by any means.
In my defense, where I live nobody has even heard of Animal Crossing. However The Sims games just fly off of the shelfs. In truth, game stores around here have a hard time keeping The Sims in stock, but there are stacks of Animal Crossing games on the sames stores' shelves. The same could possibly be said of the dude who said Need 4 Speed.
I guess Animal Crossing can make some sense since Nintendo only advertised it to hell when the Wii one came out. I saw comercials non-stop with the Wii one of the game, same goes for Need For Speed.
I think I'm missing the point of your post....
Are you being sarcastic?
& my what a clever bunch we have here... I guess some people can't handle that people have a different opinion than them/are trying to turn people onto other things that are similar but are not as well known.
With NFS they've always just advertised that series though.
I can see now how my post would be confusing to understand though.
I thought that is what you were saying, but I was just making sure
Really? I remember a bunch of different commercials with the first one, where they made it seem like The Real World or something. Though I particularly remember the Wild World commercial the most, because of how horrifying it was.
I agree...a lot of the reasons things are popular is because they were well done, and they have a following doesn't mean they're over-rated.
This has nothing to do with things sucking because they are popular & being awesome because they aren't. The point was to enlighten people to underrated gems in the same genre as a mega popular thing that is hyped as though it is some sort of second coming. If you still don't get my point, then quite honestly there isn't much more I can say.... This thread will live on regardless.
Sir, when you go on a forum that you know is filled to the brim with Monkey Island fans and say "Monkey Island is overrated," that is called trolling, even if that's your real opinion. I mean, really, what's the point in that other than to purposefully cause backlash? I think James Cameron's Avatar is somewhat overrated, but I'm not going to go over to some Avatar forum and list all the reasons why I think their beloved film is overrated, especially since, despite my own problems with the film, I can clearly see why a lot of people love it so. There's seriously no reason to other than to either be a troll or to have another reason to feel smug about myself.
Ha. Haha. Really? Are you seriously trying to make me look like a hypocrite? Because if you looked at the context of those posts, you'd realize how futile such an attempt would be.
I was tired of seeing people being pretentious and hating on popular things just because they were popular, so I created the 'Underrated Video Games' thread to counterbalance that. Have people talk about their guilty pleasures, start talking about the good things in life rather than the bad!
And it would help if you actually read what I said about overrated games:
Still the same opinion I hold today, man. So
First of all, I never accused you of saying "Street Fighter sucks;" I honestly wanted your opinion on why it was overrated. Because personally, in terms of balance and technical skill, I really don't think anything CAN come close to touching it. King of Fighters is fun and all, but it never felt as tight or as well-polished as any of the Street Fighter games (well... except EX, but we never speak of that). Sure, Street Fighter may not be as flashy as any of the Aksys games (Blazblue, Guilty Gear) or the Marvel vs. Capcom games, and it may not require a whole lot of memorization of the moves like a lot of 3D fighters do, but that's just what makes Street Fighter awesome; it's a pretty barebones fighter, so it all boils down to timing and how well opponents read each other.
...wow. Sorry for that tangent - I was watching EVO matches earlier, so I'm feeling really HYPE right about now.
Well, okay. You win that one, I suppose. To me, though, an action RPG would have action elements a bit more seamlessly and not just in battle like Tales does, but I guess I can't argue with what everyone else says. :P
And I would like to stress myself that I don't get offended when people don't like the same games I like, so there's... really no need to apologize, at least for me. People who *do* get offended should consider growing thicker skin.
You miss my point. I'm saying that just saying "this is overrated, this is underrated" without any discussion about why doesn't make for a very engaging thread. It seems that there's a lot of opportunity for intelligent discussion that's being lost here.
1. As I have stated in several posts now, it isn't an attack on anything to state it is overrated... it is saying that it is the mega popular game that everybody holds on a pedestal. Zack & Wiki on the other hand is an awesome game that NOBODY played. I am saying.... well its good that you like Monkey Island now go play Zack & Wiki. Besides... not many people actually complained about it (you would make two).
2. WHICH WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF THIS THREAD
3. I read what you said long before you reposted it. All I'm saying is that you didn't go on the same kind of tirade calling people trolls & what not on there, but you acted as if this thread was pure evil & disgusting.
4. In many people's minds's that is precisely what makes it a better game.... you rely on your wits instead of learning to do a crap ton of 50 hit combo moves (I'm not saying that I agree, but I do feel that more people should give the games a chance.
5. Not much to say to that
6. Well considering the amount of hate in this thread & the consistent refusal to grasp the point of this thread (even after being informed multiple times) I honestly believe that there needs to be ALOT of skin growing.
But enough of this... I refuse to let this thread get closed, so can we all please take this thread for what it is instead of what you are wanting make it out to be? I assure that this thread was started with good intentions... but a thread's ultimate intentions can only be as good as the mindset of the posters within it (which is the reason that I am so frantically trying to keep people on topic & explain my intentions *sadly this is more often than not futile anymore* on most of the threads that I'm on).
Then I invite you to do it. Please, please do it. The problem is that there is no chance for intelligent discussion between all of the bitter feelings & jumping to conclusions about my intentions. In fact I wanted this thread to turn into that, but with the PS3's wordcap, it simply wasn't possible in the first few posts.
