BTTF doesn't have to worry about Tycho, and as of Poker Night we are letting you turn off shadows independently of other graphics settings. So I would guess BTTF will be more in line with Sam and Max 3, especially if you can live without shadows.

Here's hope for you, markeres... if you don't use shadows, I don't think that shader model 3 is necessary. But that might be naive thinking on my part. ;)

Yeah, that's what I'm hoping, too. The only problem is, the black screen appeared right from the beginning of "Poker Night", before Tycho was rendered (I think), so I don't know exactly how everything is connected. Ben also said in that post "You really want a non-integrated card that supports shader model 3.0.", but I don't know if "really want" means "must have". Some clarification would be nice...

Or the lowest setting? I'm able to play "Devil's Playhouse" at settings 3 & 4 for the most part, and "Poker Night" at setting 1. Is this good enough for BTTF?
Likewise, I would also like to know if this is good enough. Devil's Playhouse runs fine at setting 3 and a bit choppy at setting 4, but it runs. Aside from the integrated graphics (I have an Intel Macbook with Leopard, which I know won't run BttF, but I also run Windows XP through Bootcamp), my laptop has a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of RAM. Even if it's at the lowest visual setting, I'll be satisfied.

When we talk about intel cards? Do we mean processor or videocard?
Because you have intell processors with NVDIA cards.

Plzz could someone confirm I am not screwed with my Intell Processor?
I heard something about problems with Intell? But I don't know if it refers to the processor or videocard.

Think that was about intel graphics cards. Anyway your intel processor is more than enough to run this or any other game, core i5 isn't top of the range but its a pretty recent and good processor. With those specs you should be able to run the game fine.

Yea, thanks, I was just a bit confused about my graphics card.

I have tested the Penal Zone demo and I can play it on full settings but I get a bit of mouse lag.

    Bring down the resolution?
That's what works for me with this antique computer.
Whenever a game starts to lag I just decrease the resolution and choose Window-Mode.
Most of the time that resolutes in a smoother performance.
  • edited December 2010
I'll try reducing the resolution, thanks,

I also get lag on The first part of Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (most likly from the boat shaking and other stuff) does anyone know if the beginning of The Penal zone is more laggy than the rest?

We support pixel shader 2.0 and even 1.4 for BTTF. Poker Night supported 3.0 and 2.0 at launch (in theory), although there were problems with certain 2.0 machines. For BTTF, we have tested on various 2.0 and 1.4 configurations. Of course I can't promise that it will work on your particular system, but we will try.

I'd appreciate the help if my specs would hold up. I know a bit about computers, but I know sometimes specs can be fickle. Thanks.

    Processor: 2.4GHz AMD 64
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 512mb

The demo of that was very laggy until I dropped it down a bit, but it was rattling a lot in the screen.
  • edited December 2010
I just though maybe it might be more laggy because durring the demo there is a few explosion type things and shaking.

I want to order the game now but i'm a bit worried as I read in the specs thread something about it not running on machines with an intel card? I ran Dxdiag and got the following info for my laptop:

Card name: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
    DAC type: Internal
    Display Memory: 1695 MB

Am I to assume it won't run on my machine?? I REALLY WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME!! THANKS FOR ANY HELP :D

    Aghhhhh but it's killing meeee!

I have a lot lower memory on my intel graphics card and I can run the game on lowest settings, so you should be fine.
  • edited December 2010
eventually I'll test it on my EEE netbook to see if the Intel GMA945 will run it. I can tell you this, at this point, the 8800gt and 5200GT will run the game (one with full graphics and the other turned down a ton, respectively)... but for now, I'm sorry to inform you that I can't tell you how the GMA945 runs it.

Thanks for the help guys, I think i'm gonna give it a go! If it won't run on my Laptop I can always re-download it on my desktop right? Or is it one download per episode?

Just send the setup exe to your other computer and run it and login.

They're very generous apparently, you can supposedly download things more than once.

I just want to say, not only does the game run on my system, but it actually runs better than "Devil's Playhouse" and "Poker Night", while looking just as good as those games. I don't know how you guys at Telltale managed to pull that off, but kudos to you. :)
  • edited December 2010
Have the same thing you do, TC; it runs fine. The best minimum setting is 3 for graphics (anti-aliasing doesn't seem to affect the performance, surprisingly, so crank it if you wish). Thing is, you can also play up to max graphical detail, with no shadows or effects (only seemed to really impact the flame trails) pretty smoothly if you don't mind a tiny bit of lip-sync lag.

I have an Intel G33/G31 chip and it runs just fine. :)

There is a Mac version, and it's available from this website. Maybe you could try and get a refund from Gamestop, and then buy the Mac version from here (or see if Gamestop is intending selling the mac version too).
  • edited December 2010
Wish you bought it off here.

Did you get a serial key from Gamestop? Perhaps you can download the Mac version from here and use that key? (I have no idea if that is even possible / will work though, just thinking out loud).

Hi, I have a MacBook Pro from late 2007 with a 2.2 Ghz Core2Duo and a Nvidia 8600GT. Will I be able to run BTTF? It seems like my computer is the minimum specs to run modern games and can run more advanced games fine, I'm just curious.

    Thanks
