The Newly Regenerated Doctor Who Thread
So, Christmas is approaching, and with it a brand new Doctor who episode, and seeing as it's no longer series 5, I thought it would be time for a new, more generalised Doctor who thread!
For those who are new to the series, It features a humanoid Alien (timelord) called the Doctor, who travels in time and space in the TARDIS. He's the last of his race, and when he dies, he regenerates into a new person (up to 13 times). So far he has done so 11 times, with the current, 11th doctor being Matt Smith.
To kick things off, here's a trailer for the new Doctor who ipod/iphone/ipad/android game: The mazes of time!

The 9th doctor episode "Rose" would be a good start since the series was revived then for new and old fans.
However, I reccomend starting with any of the new series, as the old series doesn't really hold up all too well unless you are really devoted to the show.
You should start with either 'Rose', 'The Christmas Invasion', 'The Runaway Bride', and/or 'The Eleventh Hour'. All of which are the first episode of each series, except for Series 4, as it's quite closely intertwined with Series 2. If you find Rose a tad boring, I reccomend trying any of the other episodes I recommended,a s they have a different doctor and therefore different tone.
Those are the last episodes in series, not the first of the following.
I generally recommend "Rose", "Dalek" and "The Christmas Invasion" as entrance episodes for someone trying to get into the series. For just getting a more general vibe of the show at large, the episodes I recommend are "The Doctor Dances", the "Rise of the Cybermen"/"Age of Steel" two parter and "School Reunion"
Don't get me wrong, I did like David, but I really do think that IF he was there from the start, it would turned people off the show, because his Doctor was far too, well, happy, giddy, running around grinning like a nut case and just generally bouncing around the place, and to be honest, brought back some of that geek factor.
New Audience wise, it was a great idea to show the character back after all these years but is now a tortured soul, blames himself, more in tune with his emotions and control and showing him return to his "old" ways once he got back with a human companion and started travelling around again, before showing him willing to sacrifice himself and eventually doing so in the events that happens in the Series 1 finale, showing him letting go of all that guilt, which made sense that after he regenerated he would be more up beat and giddy.
Also a thought if the Doctor is always getting younger how would people feel about an older regeneration? I wouldn't be in favor of it, I prefer the Doctors that have a more patriarchal role with characters.
^This pretty much summed up my feelings about Nine.
The Watcher
Also: The Poll should have been click up to x amount. Because I can never choose between 5 through 7.
What if they held a roast of The Doctor? All of the Doctor's past companions and historical figures making fun of him and each other? I'd watch that.
Your fan-ness of Dr. Who set me down this path... and now here I am, glued to the TV as I tear through the series from "Rose" forward. If my 360 RRODs from being on all day to stream this show, I'm sending you the repair bill, hahaha.
Seriously though, this show is amazing.
You forgot 10->10. TBH, i woud have do, had I not watched the episode the night before.
@StLouisRibs: Heh heh heh. Are you trying to get them all watched before christmas? Thats when the next episode is (both in the UK and in the states this year). Anyway, Good luck, and don't be put off by some of the rubbish ones (namely love & monsters, and Midnight). Be sure to watch this after series 3 (but before Voyage of the Damned!
As for the adventure games: As they stand, I wouldn't pay more than£7.50(About $12)for them. The final episode, "Shadows of the Vashta Nerada" will be out on Christmas, and hopefully, that'll change things!
Also, this was spotted in Wales the other day. 22 TARDIS's!
"Blink"
"City of Death"
"The Talons of Weng-Chiang"
"Remembrance of the Daleks"
(in that order)
and then find a jumping-on point.
On the other hand, why am I the only person to have voted for Patrick Troughton?! Even the actors who play the Doctor cite him as their favourite!
Psh, everyone knows Colin Baker is the best.
I met him at a convention hes a nice guy.
Already on board, mate.
EDIT: Apparantly binging on British TV has side effects... that "mate" came entirely subconsciously.
Also, everyone knows that Paul Mcgann was the best doctor. After all, he's still starring in his own series (albeit on audio, and that finishes soon)!
*SCREAMS* What happened to her eyes!
*CONTINUES SCREAMING*
Wow! Thats almost as awesome as these! Same price too!
OMG. I want one so badly.
Die in a fire.
Then there was that one part
I couldn't sleep that night.
Midnight was very atmospheric, I like it for the same reason I like "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances". The overall creepiness and panic of the situation is so well handled....
This still freaks me out a bit though
Also, ever wondered what the doctor says whilst Martha Fastforwards through his instructional video in "human Nature"?
I loved the Rowan Doctor. He fits right in with the other Doctors.
Ahh, the only Doctor Who I've ever been able to persuade my brother to watch. Also, the source of an extremely strange inside joke between my friend and I...Good times.
