Hi again everyone! I'm finally almost done with the 3rd doctor (my viewing slowed down because college classes started =D) I know that doctor #4 was considered the most popular of the first 7 doctors, but otherwise I don't know what to expect, although I'm very excited
Been watching a ton of cheap classic Who dvds this past month that I hadn't got round to watching. Some have been good, but most have been pretty crap, which is why I've been putting them off for so long. Still, at least, I've got McGann audios to listen to!
Oh, and I preordered the series 6 blu ray yesterday! Hell yes!
Suddenly, I'm reminded of Anthony Ainley's Master in the 80s. Hardly my favourite (not a patch on the original goatee Roger Delgado), but he actually did say some pretty weak puns, from time to time. I'm not joking, he actually did say, "Quite...masterly." Now that I think of it, it really was wonderful in its cheesiness!

He also had some amazing disguises.
I find it hard to validate those who haven't watched any of the classic series, seeing how very vastly superior it is.
I'm not believing a word of it until an official announcement is made by the BBC. I think we all remember that bollocks regarding the 'Johnny Depp movie' about a year ago.
Variety reported it, which I feel is a fairly reputable source. It's actually logical, too, seeing as Warner Brothers is trying to find a franchise to fill a certain Potter-sized hole in their schedules that could last for some time.
Also; there'll be both a trailer for the Christmas Special and a new mini-episode during Children in Need! Doubt it'll be as neat as, say, Time Crash, though. (Although we could always hope the slim chance they've gotten Paul McGann back)
Oh, also; there's a series of five shorts totalling around 15 minutes on the Series Six set. Two are just fun adventures a la Time and Space, one is a prequel to Closing Time featuring James Corden, and the last two form a two-parter, with the first called 'First Night' and featuring the Doctor visiting River on her first night in Prison. The second one is called 'Last Night', and I'd speculate we may be seeing the Singing Towers here. Mentlegen, get your hankies.

Oh, I so wish that were the case. McGann was the Doctor that made me a fan, really, and he was amazing in the audios, especially in the Lucie Miller finale earlier this year (which I need to relisten to soon, I think!). But, like you said, slim chance. It's rare when filmmaker's take a much loved property and actually make something good out of it.
Egad! You voted for Paul McGann in the poll! If we somehow reopened the poll, I'd probably go for McGann now too. He is really great. And to think I used to think Friar was a tad bit loopy for liking him so much...
I hope we get a Time Crash involving Sylvester McCoy. Hehe Sylvester agreed with me that he sgould have been in Time Crash .
I'd say it'd work because Eleven is quite like Seven at his most master manipulative, but I do think it's unlikely we'll see any past Doctor. It'll probably just be an innocent little short with a very small cast.
In unrelated news, Colin Baker will be on this year's Celebrity Come Dine With Me.
Hmm... I might actually watch that show sometime then!
I still maintain that a doctor who special version of "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" or "Big brother" is a must. Tom baker swinging through trees and eating kangaroo testicles? Why not.
Also, it's Paul McGann's birthday today. And there is no-one on the forum that shares his birthday, ergo he is not a member.

"A Doctor Who feature film remains in development w/ BBC Worldwide Productions in LA. As of yet no script, cast or production crew in place."
Was what they tweeted.
That's what BBC Worldwide reported, not the BBC, two different things altogether. Which could be the problem: BBC Worldwide could want a Doctor Who movie to be made, but the BBC aren't interested. Why we're getting so many conflicting reports at the moment, I think.

Okay, the bbc confirmed Yates as a director. Source
Back to bed now, I think.
Again, BBC News are reporting what they've heard on some other website.
Yates, who directed the last four Potter films, told Variety that he is about to start work on developing a "Doctor Who" film with the BBC.
Too many conflicting reports are flying about, I think. The same thing happened with Johnny Depp, and it's happening now. I'm gonna give it a week for the reports to die down and have a proper announcement made about what's going on.
Still a bit surprised by this all movie business. I mean, I like Yates as much as the next guy, but Richard Franklin isn't well known for directing. badumtish
To distract from ponies, I just thought I'd show off the official campaign poster for my unopposed run for my small town's city council that will never be printed or used:

This thing about the movie... the guy running the whole scheme (scam?) wants an out-of-continuity movie, completely fresh and unrelated to the TV series, written by Americans who "understand" the British. While that's slightly more reassuring than "Americans who 'understand' 'Doctor Who'" (see all abortive '90s reboots, and theory that the first Doctor worked for the CIA), I don't think something unrelated to the TV series is a good idea, if only because it won't help overseas sales of the show because people will see it as dislocated from their first introduction to the series.
(By-the-way, there's an article about Death's Head over on the Starburst website!)
Yates said it would take "two to three years to get it right" as the show needs "quite a radical transformation".
"Russell T. Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch," he said.[/UNQUOTE]
Is that code for "I hate 'Doctor Who', RTF and the Moff don't know jack, but there's money in this for me"?

Almost done!

I'm waiting on the series 6 blu-ray. I want to see what the special edition physically looks like, so I know which version to get.
He also had some amazing disguises.

Only if Christopher Eccleston is on it.
You have got to be kidding me.
That I am.

Also; this thing popped up on Forbidden Planet.
First Action; Toclafane invasion.
I offer my services as party singer.
Fun fact: the Georgian version of the HMS Valiant is a rusted out Ford pickup we found abandoned near Lake Lanier.
Right, it's already stuck in my head. Speaking of; tell me you can hear that drumming, too!?
You're hired! Your pay is getting to survive.
Fantastic! That's much better than money in an apocalypse anyways.
The tweed-to-brown transition makes it look a little weird. Has anybody taken any pictures of these shirts in real life? Some of them look really cool
(By-the-way, there's an article about Death's Head over on the Starburst website!)
And the worst part is, it's looking more and more like there's actually some truth to the movie rumours for once. Darn.
Don't get me wrong, a Doctor Who movie could be brilliant. Just not the one Yates is describing!
