Very true- as a programmer I know. You can either completely mask what's going on internally (e.g. Microsoft) and either release when you're not ready, or push it back 3-6 months.. or you announce no date at all until it is ready.
Telltale is doing something ambitious by releasing games episodically with cliffhangers - it inherently creates expectation, and I'm sure a lot of pressure on their dev's If they get it out before the last seconds of the month, they are winning.
But I'm hoping for 2hr from now (now 7AM PST, 10am EST here)
First, I was trying to help initiate some community involvement with Telltale by having them at the very least give a daily update, and if we are lucky, maybe answer some questions. Or, add a meet and greet with the voice actors on how they thought things went... without revealing anything important.
I think it would be silly to entertain the idea that adding a daily progress bar would lengthen the development of a game or any project. If at the end of each day, you could long in and see where they are. I think that would be cool.
Second, I am a developer, and if you tasked the project manager with updating the progress bar. It would get the PM off the developers back for maybe a few minutes. It is not like the PMs aren't getting updates in the daily scrum that can't allude to the status of the game's development anyway.
I agree that Telltale has added a new style of launch into the gaming world, but wouldn't adding an almost real-time status be just as progressive. It would give the community a better idea as to where things stand instead of... I hope it is released today.... Or, any word from 'Alan'?
I like the company, and I enjoy the games they produce. It just seems they go forum heavy at launch, and then it becomes a ghost town in regard to their involvement. If it takes a few extra days to include a dev chat or what not... who cares... it would be neat to feel you are a part of something even... if you aren't.

ehh. OK I think you may have sold me (and now that I know where you're coming from) - if they wanted to be really progressive, I suppose they could just put up their Burndown Chart.. and there's your progress bar
But I bet that'd be a hard sell to marketing and prod mgmt
Doc said if you put your mind to it and anything's possible. Citizen Brown says this for all his latest achievmemts! Mind control, making zombies and being creepy!
I miss old Doc. I wonder if Citizen Brown will be like X 11 Biff

Except that you'll need to use things that will appeal to the doc instead to snap him out of it. SCIENCE!

also the line at very end ot the preview was a bit ominous.
it was something like 'there is no more time for us'...I'm sure i'm remembering it wrong.
Once again Episode 4 has been removed from my list of games on Steam. I swear to God Steam, if I have to wait until Monday to play this I will bring the doom.

I bet William & Kate just wanted to get the damn wedding out of the way so they could play Double Visions. Or maybe THEY get to Jurassic Park as a wedding gift while the rest of us commoners have to wait
You know I really don't mind the few hours wait for Double Visions. I'll just read forums and watch youtube in the meantime. To snap Doc out of X 11 we'll have to go like " Hey look Doc! Chemicals! Look! Rocket parts!" And the one that'll make him crack:
Doc look! Jules Verne books!

The final boss of The game: ... The random woman you see all over the place!
At the movies, round the back alleys, She's been watching you!
Or Telltale might just fell like making George the bad guy
I come from the future. And I can exclusively reveal that Episode 5 is based on chasing BUFORD TANNEN through time as he's stolen the time travelling locomotive.
Sorry to spoil this but just had to share.
... actually that would be hilarious. Please, Telltale?! :P

The office has only been open for 1.5 hours. The episode will most likely be released in the afternoon/early evening.
Fixed.
I definitely agree with you. It was an extremely chilling delivery and one of the main reasons why I'm so eager to play Episode Four.
Minimum: 30min
Maximum: 8hours 30min
i thought they opend at 9am...
"There is no future for us." Is what he said. You were close!
"There is no future for us."
I'm almost positive that was directed at Edna.
I thought they opened at 10am. Well, one of us must be right.
There's only one way to settle this. A race around the world in eighty days.
ReadySetGo!
I think that you may be right.
thanks
Same here

ask not when TTG opens, but rather, the time of the games release.

OK. I say the game will be online in 5 hours. If not: in 6 hours it is!
