I just spent half an hour playing Faerie Solitaire. What I don't like about these kinds of games is that they're just mindless wastes of time. When I start playing them I'm engaged enough that I don't notice that the time flies, but I always regret playing when I'm done. If the rest of the games are along the same vein I'll pass on this one.

I think you just described every game in existence. No game will give your life a sense of purpose and fulfilment.

True, but many games do better than make you feel you feel you might just as well be staring into the wall though. The distinction is that these games do no more than barely qualify as entertainment in my opinion. And they always have a paper thin "story" tacked onto them, as if that's got anything at all to do with what you're playing.

also, the bundle price choices are fixed amounts and there is no way to know whether future games are worth paying the given amounts. Seriously, if the only finished game in that bundle is Fae Solitaire

...which they let you have for free

...keeping in mind that Faerie Solitaire is only $5 on Steam, and this bundle is only available to purchase until April 30th (which means that there will be no point in the future wherein other games are available to help you make a more informed decision, then how does that give me any indication of what the other games will be like or if they're worth paying at least $27?
  • edited April 2012
It's worth noting that if you've bought anything from them before, the'll actually give you the bundle for free.
  • edited April 2012
By anything, you mean Faerie Solitaire for Mac/Win or Faerie Alchemy for iOS/Android, since those are the only 2 games currently available.

EDIT: I guess what I'm saying is, with the Infinity Bundle you're paying $27, $47, or $97 to get a $5 card game which is currently free, and the hope that any potential future games don't suck.

EDIT AGAIN: I think I've just figured out that Subsoap is using an indie bundle to get funding same as a kickstarter (just without using Kickstarter.com)

Indie Royale accidentally put up Thy Rewardz bundle with the line "Dear loyal nobleperson, your generosity has not gone unnoticed and in return for your loyalty you will be rewarded!" No indication of what games will be in this bundle, or if it's some sort of limited availability to those who have made large donations, or what.

    Presenting the EA Indie Bundle.

    ...Wait, what?
  • edited May 2012
That's probably the best thing EA's done in years. And no Origin in sight! Joy!

The games can still be registered on Origin.

Time to get the Death Spank games.

Ah, but it's optional. They way it should be.

    Of course.

If they have a publisher, are they still indie games? Is it just that they were completely developed without publisher help (not sure if they were or not) that makes them indie, or is EA cashing in on the "indie" title? Can't think of a less "indie" bundle, unless they were to include Dragon Age + Mass Effect in it too.

    That's for Gatling Gears also.

    stupid EA.

Looks like I'm just getting DeathSpank 1 and 2.

Crap. I missed the Infinity Bundle. Suck.
  • edited May 2012
I played Faerie Solitaire, which is the only game currently available from that "bundle" (actually, it sounds more like a kickstarter). It's nothing special.

    I don't think you're missing out.

It's strangely addicting though. I had a few free days last year and wanted to play so many games. I started this one and suddenly 2 of my free days were gone and FS was finished. I played it so much my eyes started to hurt. :D

Oo, a bundle I can actually be interested in. Been a while.
  • edited May 2012
If you're getting that bundle, find me on Dungeon Defenders!
  • edited May 2012
I own exactly 1 of those games in that bundle.

I may have to pick it up at some point as well! :D
  • edited May 2012
Beeeeeeeeeeeeeh, I saw "indie bundle" and immediately I thought, INSTA-BUY. Next thing you know I fork over €8 for an album I'm not going to listen to anyway.
  • edited May 2012
I've chipped into almost every indie bundle since I became an active poster... alas, none of these games really speak to me. I've said that to myself before though... I'll probably end up caving in yet again for games I probably wont play for more than a test run.
  • edited May 2012
Yeah, I pretty much gave up on IndieRoyale after the April Fool's Bundle. I still can't believe I bought the Alpha Collection. I'll still buy one if there's a game I like in it, but they've diluted the brand too much for me to still want to insta-buy.

Humble Bundles are still an insta-buy, though.

Indie Royale All-Charity Lightning Pack - only 96 hours to go as I'm writing this.
    - Osmos
    - B.U.T.T.O.N.
    - The Shivah
    - Blueberry Garden
pay more than $7 to get some chip-tunes albums.

6 Euros for The Shivah? INSTA-BUY!

ONLY 96 hours? Dude, that's like four days.

Also, for the four games and the bonus 'albums', that's around £4.50. Bargain.

I could have phrased it better, but most of the bundles last a week or two.
  • edited May 2012
It's a lightning pack, they're usually "just" three days.

It looks like the minimum price is $4.50 no matter how many you pick. It just suggests you pay more based on the value of your bundle.

I say screw them if they can't just put the pricing structure out upfront. I asked in the chat and was told $1 each for the first three games, and $0.75 each for additional games. I'd rather pay $10 for Sideway New York than give money to people who make you sign up to see how much they expect you to pay.
  • edited May 2012
It's actually 6$ minimum for me. Why?
  • edited May 2012
Because, as always, God hates Germany.

    Let's see that list...

    - Beep
    - Caster +OST
    - Dark Fall: Lost Souls
    - Diamond Dan
    - Lightfish
    - Necrovision
    - Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals
    - P.A.M.
    - Sideway: New York
    - The Ball
    - Ubersoldier 2
    - XOTIC

Now, do I want any of the ones I don't already own? ...no. Oh well!

Oh, figmentPez is right. I was just assuming it was $4.50 minimum because I didn't look at it while I was picking the games I wanted.

Not interested in the slightest, to be perfectly honest.

Hey, Bundle in a Box is a go! And it's an Adventure Bundle!

Get 1893: A World's Fair Mystery, Ben There, Dan That!, Gemini Rue, The Sea Will Claim Everything and Time Gentlemen, Please! for a (current) minimum price of $2.99. Beat the (current) average of %5.46 and you'll also get Metal Dead and The Shivah!

...I sound a little too excited about this. Not sure why, I already own most of this stuff.
  • edited May 2012
I'm in for that one. Too bad I have half of it, still worth it though.

Ooh! I'm definitely getting this one. The only game I have in that bundle is The Shivah and I've been wanting to try most of the others for a while. :)
