I hope this just really sticks to the story, because if they say they want to stay away from the major characters.. well they pretty much screwed up bringing Hershel, Lilly and Glenn into the picture since they were majors. We'll just have to see.
I think that is almost of a certainty they wish to steer clear of majors. As is seen with Glenn/Lilly/Hershel and knowing the game is using the comic as canon, there is too much known about them. It looses interest for some because of prior information. Better to stay away from them and only use them as more cameo type appearances. Then people are more likely to think, "Hey, cool! I know that guy! So, that is what happened to him before. Interesting." You know what I mean?

That's what I mean. If we encountered Lori and Shane in a cameo appearance or something, I'd just squeal. It doesn't sound very farfetched and I'm sure there's a lot of untouched territory in their pre-Rick relationship. Am I the only one who gets the idea that soon the videogame will run parallel with the comic?
Edit: I always thought that this was a prequel sort of thing.

You certainly aren't the only one.
The only thing that was certain, as far as the time frame compared to the comic, was it began during Rick's coma. That coma only lasted a few days, not months. After that, it must run parallel. Just one more reason I think we will see cameos mainly, and possibly a bit more details, depending on when they appear in the comic.
I'm thinking the preview was not shown in exactly chronological order. I really can't see them dressing everyone else up warmer, including Lee by his jacket, and leaving Clem in that flimsy dress. At least, they damned well better not. I'll be writing a strong letter of protest!
They want to do a lot of Lily's backstory so that's something. Rick is in a coma for a month and then it takes him some time to reach the Atlanta group. So cameos are a possibility still.
Rick may have been in a coma for a month, but the zombie-pocolypse did not start as soon as he went into it. I really don't know exactly how many days of it had happened before Rick woke. Anyone?

It had to be pretty quickly into things. The IV bag only lasts 10 hours and he showed no signs of dehydration or starvation. He didn't have significant muscle degeneration which from personal experience I can say starts pretty quickly(2-3 weeks). When Glenn gets him out of Atlanta for the first time though, he asks Rick where he's been for the past month. Maybe if you count the travel time from Hospital to Atlanta you get a month somewhere in there. I wish I lived in Georgia so I could go trace his route.

He lived in Cynthiana, Kentucky. This is right outside of Lexington, KY and approximately 380 miles north of Atlanta, GA up Interstate 75.
We also don't know how recently he had an attendant prior to waking. I could see a week in the coma and however long to make that trek. He did run out of gas in his car, then found the horse. With all the potential traffic he had to go around while driving, that could have taken quite a while, and he may not have gotten very far before running dry.
When I was trying to imagine what a Walking Dead game by Telltale would be like, my first thought was: you're going to need to saw off someone's arm to save their life.
It was the only puzzle I've seen in an adventure game that was so directly on-target for being in a survival horror, haha.
You guys seem to be basing "Oh he doesn't look like he has muscle degeneration" and stuff off the TV show.... This game has no connection with the show at all! Yeah we could possibly see Shane if it's in episode 2, but Shane dies in issue 4 of the comics! The comics are canon for the game, not the TV show.
I think we may see some of the same places from the comics, but I doubt there will be too many cameos cuz they'll be at different times. Maybe some of the communities, towns and buildings visited at different times, just like with Rise of the Governor and the "All dead inside" sign type stuff.
Who knows. The possibilities are exciting, but the game will be great with or without other cameos. I'm just hoping I get my own cameo ;op
i feel it's too early to say and because of the different outcomes of who is saved these speculation threads should be spilt in to who saves who other wise it could get confusing
looking at the next ep pictures show kenny/clem and duck and some yet to be seen people..
Right at the end of the spoiler preview lee becomes some psycho butcher. That could mean that he might make a tough decision slaughtering the last survivor of the dairy farm when the whole place gets over run by zombies. In this way he gains favor in the eyes of the group but some might disapprove because things went wrong. I tell it how I see it. There is going to be a food crisis and because of the circumstances someone is going to be the bread winner and rise to new leadership
One thing that I noticed. Episode 1 seems to take place in the Spring (the answering machine mentions that the babysitter is about to go on Spring Break, and Carly is in town to cover a cherry blossom festival) but in the preview for Episode 2, everyone is shown wearing long sleeve shirts and jackets, indicating that the weather has gotten cooler. They must spend a long time at that motel.
or maybe the new clothes are just to keep them warm in general and more protection against zombies or too much blood spatter is grossing the kids out...
I think either Larry or Doug/Carly (whoever you saved) is going to die. My bet is Larry, though, considering Lilly probably leaves early on, or your group leaves early on.
I predict that while Starvation, Walkers, Hostage situations, and people who want to kill Clementine might all be threats this season. She will never face what I only will dare say as "The Painkillers" Situation from 28 days later. Thank god.
On a lighter note I predict Duck and Clementine will be fast friends despite all his quacking. I also predict that the similarities between Clementines dad in the family picture and lee will be noticed when they meet up with her mom.
I predict the Glenn character on the show may make a reference to Macon in a future episode of the tv series. {I dont watch it}
I predict many gamers will be super anxious for each episode and will ignore the fact that the full price will be 1600 points all together while individually they become 2000 points. Because the series is worth 25 dollars easily
I predict that Telltale will use the feedback from the fans "decisions" to influence how future linear games play out.
I predict that an tech problem that doug could have solved will come up but it can be solved another way if you chose to save carley
I predict that if you have kennys loyalty carley remembers your trust and even Clementine knows you murdered a guy {assuming certain decisions were made} making Larrys threats of exposing you frail
I predict Lee killed the senator because he was raping his wife.
You guys seem to be basing "Oh he doesn't look like he has muscle degeneration" and stuff off the TV show....
Based it on the comic. He falls once after getting out of bed but is able to walk nearly constantly afterwards and makes no mention of being hungry or thirsty. Then he's able to run away from zombies and belt a door tightly closed behind him. Then he finds a bike and rides said bike all the way to his home.

That screams of "no muscle degeneration".
Plus, I truly do not believe Kirkman envisioned Rick being in a coma for more than a few days tops. Once care for Rick had stopped, due to nurzombies, his death from dehydration would occur within a week, two at the most.
I dont remember if rick communicated with Morgan via walkie talkie from Cynthiana, Kentucky all the way to Atlanta (a little of 400 miles away). I know he did in the tv show yes i know that this has nothing to do with the tv show im saying the idea of long distance walkie communication could happen if you save doug and repair the walkie. Glenn could possibly communicate with you, or tell you something valuable in the future. Im not to savvy in the capabilities of walkie talkies so I dunno if they arent a like pair if Clems mom could get close enough to you in the future to try to reach you on that channel from a different one. Just a thought.
well i thought clem's parents are dead or at least infected/dying slowly..fromt he answering machine..
yes i too wonder if we can fix clem's WT i have one save with carly and another with doug on my third 'asshole' playthrough i dunno may leave it to see who is more usefull :P
i'd say rick woke up because his meds ran out and his body kicked in to survival mode which get him up and out...

Im 100% sure her dad is dead but the mom part is a toss up. Like when it looked like for sure Tyrese died in the prison in the room full of walkers but beat them all into a pile of mush XD( She said the father was attacked by some mad man at the hotel or gas station i forget which, which is why they went to the hospital. She was probably histerical on the last call cuz he turned and tried to kill her or everyone in the hospital started turning into zombies lol.) I know this isnt the place for this last tid bit but when you do alternate play throughs does it overwrite your previous game or can you save separately.
Also on the rick thing, on the faqs it says this starts while rick is in a coma, but as everyone pointed out in the ep 2 preview its getting cold so if everyone is right then by the time ep 2 is happening rick would already be hooked up with the group making a cameo non canon and against the comic story.
there are 3 save slots on the pc / steam version so i would assume all formats have them ?
but if you use the replay/rewind feature the game overwrites the progress on that save slot so if you want to make the same choices and play the following episodes you'll have to finish that save slot.
Thanks for the info, I did a playthrough on a buddies pc then mine ps3 playthrough lastnight so I wasnt sure.
As far as the lee swinging the axe guy screaming part. I think its either he is amputating a limb, doesnt trust whoever it is ( i think if its a new guy you might have the choice to kill him or let him come with you but the rest of the group wouldnt be to happy with because he ran with the guys that tried to kill you) OR choice three.... you kill him as a food source to keep the group alive, espicially he is about to die from a gunshot wound or arrow wound anyway. (keep in mind i doubt they know at this point about the whole you are gonna turn into a zombie when you die thing) Im assuming they will figure that out when larry dies of a heartattack .
Also i think crap hits the fan because larry goes to the dudes and tells them who you are and they try to kill you off thinking your a "bad man".
in my dialogue larry tells the group if your bit you turn, think thats if you question larry/ ask him to chill out.
i'm pretty sure larry pops his cloggs in ep2 and lilly needs som consoling if you sided with him lol
the axe guy is still screaming when the axe falls so an amputation or a nearby zombie is dealt with. as for the arrow in the knee.... sorry the shoulder/back guy dunno he's new..

I meant to be more specific XD. I mean the whole "you are already infected" thing where if you die from anything thats not your brains being scrambled you get up and start eating people .
Also the kid that it shows shooting the rifle in the preview with the blue jacket and blonde hair. Pretty sure he survives because he is on the cover photo for episode three in the game, riding on the front of the train lee is driving.
Am I the only one who thinks Katjaa is going to die?
I know a lot of people don't seem to like Duck, and personally I'm not a big fan of him either. However, I don't think Kenny or Duck are going anywhere anytime soon. At the same time, I don't see that family getting through the game unscathed, and Duck does seem to get himself in trouble quite a bit.
Also, I want to see what happens when Kenny finds out who Lee is. I've been as helpful to him as possible, so I'm curious to see if he'll turn on me. He doesn't seem the type, but you never know.
I think we'll find out if saving Carley or Doug was the right choice next episode. I saved Carley because she's a marksman and I didn't want to lose the gun, but in retrospect I feel like this might backfire on me.

I think she will die as well. I know Duck is in episode three because he is in the preview picture in the game, and kenny is in at least until episode 4. I dont think it will be that big of deal to him to find out you killed someone since you kept larry and the group from trying to kill Duck. Of course Duck is annoying most kids are, not many kids act as calm and mature as Clem.
Y'know, we all assume that the Dad has experienced a traditional trope zombie death. "Guy bit me! Can you believe it? Must have been crazy!" But maybe he had an honest to God attack by a noninfected crazy guy? Or maybe he hurt himself fighting with an undead who was restrained by others and he himself suffered no bite?
I just thought i'd call it now in order to ruin a beautiful plot twist.
i wonder if doug could have repaired clementines walkie talkie
Genius stuff. For some of us, he still has the chance. DOUG REPAIRS THE WALKIE-TALKIE, making Clementine happy, and that is the first visible result from the Doug-or-Carley choice. Thousands of players who originally chose "the chick" are replaying episode one to save Doug immediately.
Needless to say, because they haven't got Carley with a gun, Duck gets bitten by a zombie in the next episode in this scenario.

I guess it is still a toss up, but the mom did say after he was attacked that he wasnt feeling well enough to drive home. Course like you say that could mean he just got his tail whipped but in that case couldnt he just ride in the passenger seat while his wife drove? XD

however Clementine doesn't get any kind of jacket or sweater she just gets left in her original clothes... bang out of order if u ask me
