Doug made a really smart decision. I'm glad he's going to try new things.
Agreed. Like he said, he doesn't want to run the character into the ground, and the easiest way to do that is to keep throwing out the same thing week after week. I sure wouldn't want the Nostalgia Critic to become like the Simpsons, old and tired. And he said it's NOT the end forever, but the Critic won't be back in the same way. And I certainly wouldn't expect him to show up any time soon.
As for how To Boldly Flee stood up? I enjoyed it, but at the same time, I wish it were a bit more original. I mean, yes, Kickassia and Suburban Knights had their share of references, but To Boldly Flee went way overboard. I still enjoyed it, and Doug made an excellent Zod, but definitely the weaker of the specials. Much prefer Kickassia. Plus the Critic decked out like M. Bison was awesome.
Oh, and I think that it should've ended with the Critic's full catchphrase, as well as Sad Panda's song since this was goodbye to the Critic.

Yeah also i hated it how no one seemed to care other than Film Brain about Critic being gone. Yeah the Star Wars plot went way too far!
And even in To Boldly Flee, Film Brain didn't seem to care that the Critic wasn't coming back.
Another good point Film Brain is the only one who cares about Critic throughout the film and still at the end he's just like ''Who was that Critic guy again?''
Personally I think it's a great idea to have characters re-establish things that the audience already knows. Sometimes I forget what happened 10 minutes ago and feel like an expository plot dump of the things I just saw is something that I need as a viewer to internalize complex concepts such as "this character isn't around anymore".

Spoony's commentary was the only reason I sat through the first two parts, as it had a lot of insight not only into his recent breakdown, but also Channel Awesome and the politics therein as well.
No, he's done. There was a video explaining that they ran out of things to do with the Critic, so they're getting out while they're ahead. If they think of something to do, they'll bring the Critic back, but they're moving on to other things now.
Link to said video. He was the Nostalgia Critic. He remembered it so we didn't have to. Can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeves, and I hope that when James Rolfe decides that the Angry Video Game Nerd has run his course, he sends him out in just as epic a way.
Hey, guess what. A kinda new Nostalgia Critic episode right on time. Granted, it's the Reefer Madness episode from one of the DVDs, but still, it's new to me.

I love that one! Still cracks me up the kid wouldn't

drink a soda.
While I can understand the Critic's outburst when he
orders a root beer instead of a soda, the explanation may simply be that the kid doesn't drink caffeinated beverages and most root beer is caffeine free.
What, the Nostalgia Critic's retiring!? That's... shocking, to say the least.
I take it the AVGN is still going though? I mean I'm getting psyched for his big movie!!

That's the thing, the biggest thing that the AVGN is doing IS his movie. That and the "You know what's bull****?" videos.
Also, Doug said that it's the end of the weekly Nostalgia Critic episodes, but not to count him as gone for good.

He's about 11 months too late for that to be honest.

>Star wars.
Star. Wars.
you sir, have just earned the hate of every Trekker everywhere.
But of course only Film Brain cared. In canon oonly Film Brain gives a shit about the critic, to the point of obsession
Yeah but you think Nostalgia Chick or someone else would have said ''Hey where's the critic?''
Whenever Poochie isn't on screen the other characters should be saying "Hey, where's Poochie?"
Why did I know that was coming?
Because it's Coolsome and he has a huge book of Simpsons references
EDIT: alternative image for bonus points:
But no more SANTA CHRIST?
(god I'm using a lot of images today)
Yes no more Santa Christ (Unless he's going to be in a special or if the Critic makes a Christmas special he might come back.)
Well, the plot was equal parts Trek and Wars.

You would love pro wrestling commentary then.
I beat ya to it Marsden.;)
Darth i think you need to remember you just said something that really annoys the critic.

It's from his Thomas and the magic railway review.
F**k yeah, sparkle sparkle sparkle!
EDIT: I will miss the Critic's Top 11 lists though...
