Sonic The Hedgehog Thread

Sonic the hedgehog is a great video game character. Now i never had to do this before but i feel since this is a thread about Sonic i need to set some rules.

1.While you may talk about the bad Sonic games please don't turn this thread into a rant about Sonic being good then bad then starting to get good since Sonic Unleashed's day time levels.

2.This is a thread for fans of Classic Sonic,Modern Sonic, & fans of both so please respect others opinions.

3.Please no huge rants about Modern Sonic.

4.No huge rants about Sonic Characters/Sonic having too many friends. You may talk about Sonic characters you hate and why you hate them but no huge rants about Sonic being the only good Sonic Character.

I'm sorry about all those rules but this being a Sonic thread i felt i needed to set some ground rules.

You can talk about Sonic Games,Sonic Characters,Sonic Comics,Sonic cartoons and anything Sonic. You can even talk about Mario here.

Anyway he has been in loads of video games, A lot good, Some Bad. My question is what is your favorite Sonic game? Mine is a tie between Sonic Generations,Sonic Adventure DX, & Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

    I've enjoy the Sonic games I've played, although I'll admit I haven't played any of the console games past SA2 on the Dreamcast and some of the handheld Sonics, so I'm quite behind. I did play Sonic 4 Episode 1 though, and I enjoyed it a lot.

    I grabbed all of the Genesis Sonic games on XBLA as well as Sonic CD and Sonic Adventure. It's fun playing through the first two again, and completing the rest for the first time. I've also never gotten all the chaos emeralds on any of the Sonic games except for the first one, so the achievements in the XBLA version give me a good excuse to try it this time (the fact that the emulation allows for saving and restoring helps too :D).

    Ok question for everyone. I'm replaying Sonic Colours and the music is great so my question is what is your favorite song or piece of music in a Sonic Game? Mine is a tie between Metal Harbor (Sonic Adventure 2),City Escape (Sonic Adventure 2),Open Your Heart (I think this is the intro song to Sonic Adventure) and Planet Wisp (Sonic Colours, I love how the Planet Wisp music sounds)

    Red Mountain 2 from Sonic Adventure was a favourite of mine for a long time. Love the intensity of the guitar work towards the end (before it loops again, that is. about 4 minutes in or something). There are others from SA1, but that's the first one that comes to mind. Most of my favourites are from Sonic 3 & Knuckles though. Marble Garden, Hydrocity, Angel Island, Ice Cap (duh), Flying Battery, Boss, Final Boss, Death Egg, Doomsday, etc, etc. Just fantastic work. All of it, really.

    The rock songs (with and without lyrics) from the newer games are alright. I'd rather prefer it without the rock, though. Didn't like that change. Guess that had to do something to keep Sonic "hip" through the years. I did appreciate a lot of the work from Sonic Generations.

    Actually, I really really love the Japanese soundtrack to Sonic CD, which is completely different from the American soundtrack. Tidal Tempest is a nice one. Stardust. Actually, Stardust is good on the American version as well.

    I realized I listed tons of stuff instead of one moment or piece, but I'm like that.

    Ever since I played Sonic Heroes (a month ago) I am hooked to "What I'm made of" (boss fight, Metal Madness).

    Despite not really caring for the game(too much like Secret Rings and a bit too silly even for Sonic), I do like "Knight of the Wind".

    I love Escape from the city,Metal Harbor,Planet Wisp,I also love Open Your Heart,Endless Possibles,Reach For the Stars,and Chemical Plant Modern Sonic Remix. Most music in Sonic Generations was great but i wish they would have ether used the normal Escape from the city song or let us collect it as one of the songs you can collect because i didn't like the remix as much as Sonic Adventure 2's Escape from the city. Also i think Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 has loads of great Sonic music. I also find Twinkle Park and Red Mountain's music great and catchy too.

    Pretty sure that's not gonna fly with the mods.

    I know a lot of those songs aren't hard to find on the net, but they are still copyrighted and should, technically, be bought and not freely shared like what you're suggesting.

    Another Sonic song from Sonic Adventure i love is Speed Highway. I also like the remix from Sonic Generations.

    I got Sonic Adventure 2 HD With the Battle DLC on the Playstation Store and what's great is that they kept the Big cameos in levels this time! Even with the Battle DLC.

    I grabbed the Sonic 10th anniversary CD for the Dreamcast that came with a Sonic booklet, the Japanese version of Sonic Adventure 2, a Sonic coin, and a Sonic music soundtrack back when they were overstocked at PlayAsia.com for only $9.99 USD. It was worth it for the music CD alone. The Sonic series really does have some good music. :D

    Sonic's music is pretty much the only part of the series that has remained consistently good.

    I finished Hero story in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle HD last night, I hate the last Hero level Final Rush!!!!!!!!!

    The boss i hate the most in the Sonic games has to be the Biolizard, I HATE HIM.

    Oh but they make fun of the amount of times Silver has gone back in time in the comics :D

    I seriously don't get why Archie does not do the Sonic comics in the UK. I have read 2 issues of the Shadow arc of Sonic Universe and the Mobius 30 Years Later arc along with a few issues of the main Sonic comics

    Yeah, I finished all 3 stories :) Biolizard was a pain to beat.

    I'm not a big Sonic fan, but the only Sonic game I ever really played was Sonic Heroes. I got Sonic Colors, but I never really gave enough of a crap to finish.

    Also, I'm just gonna leave this here...

    I haven't played it yet. I'm looking forward to it though, it's been a while since I've played the Dreamcast version (and I don't think I ever completed it either).

    I just completed this after taking a break from Sonic Adventure 2 (I played the light side story and some of the dark side story, but got annoyed at Rouge's level with the security lasers and stopped for a while).

    You're right, I did enjoy it. A lot. It's the best 3D Sonic game I've played. :D

    Even the levels inspired by Sonic games that were criticized by journalists and fans were fun. Although, the Sonic Colors stage didn't flow as well (since the abilities were game specific rather than an extension of Sonic's regular platforming skills), and was the only level to me that felt tacked on. It still was fun though. :)

    Well, here's a Sonic fan "film".

    Not TOO terrible as far as fan-films go. Certainly seen much worse(The Hero of Time comes to mind). However, the main flaw is
    Sonic himself. Not the voice or the look or the attitude. Those are spot on. But his absolute lack of presence. There was no sense of speed from the Blue Blur. He didn't move fast, there was hardly any sound from his movement, and there was little dust or dirt or grass kicked up by him.
    Robotnik is fairly well done, and there are a couple of cameos that I sure wasn't expecting to see that I won't spoil here. All in all...it's average. Just average.

    Robotnik was probably the best part of that, actually. I liked the little origin idea they gave him.
