You mean like Sonic Advance 1, 2 and 3 for Gameboy? Those were quite enjoyable.
Good examples, but I'd say the Sonic Rush games would be more along the lines of what I'm talking about. They have a plot, but it's basic, non-intrusive and works pretty well. Plus, no actual voices. ;)

Ryan - £2.49 would be about $4, give or take a few cents.

I like Sonic CD. I don't now if its relevant cos your saying lots of things so I'll just throw that out there and see if it applys.

    Perfect examples, yes.

I'll admit i actually enjoyed most of the handheld titles like the Advance trilogy,Sonic Chronicles (Meh i thought it was good enough), The Rush games, and Colours DS. Generations 3DS is Ok but its disappointing that they didn't bother to change anything to Modern Sonic's levels other than add the Boost. Its still in 2D like Classic Sonic :/

What the hell  That's creeping me out... I can now expect to hear that in my future nightmares. Thank you Coolsome.

Btw, isn't that the music that plays on the end of Sonic.exe (that creepypasta-based game)?

If ya got a IPad or IPhone, there is an Archie Sonic app where you can get the comics. I believe for when Generations was coming, Archie put their game adaptions into 3 different collections for £2.49 each (I don't know how much that would be in dollars) The first collection is adaptions of Genesis to Dreamcast games. The Second collection is the Dreamcast stories which are Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 and Shuffle i think. Again SA 1 & 2 have story arcs collected in that. The last collection is Shadow the Hedgehog to Sonic 4 Episode 2.

    Nope, I have Nokia Asha 202 -.-'

Well i got an Itunes card and 2 of the things i got was Sonic 1 and Volume 1 of the Sonic Legacy series on the Archie Sonic Comics app. It has Issues 0-3 of the first Archie Sonic miniseries and Issues 1-17 of the normal Archie Sonic series.

Well after seeing the gameplay my basic thoughts are there is going back to your roots and then there's Sonic Lost World. Again sorta disappointing. One of the biggest things that the Mario games have done wrong is that its usually the same old story. Princess Peach gets kidnapped Mario saves her and now we are going to the same story of Eggman attacks animals and Sonic saves them and i think this is the completely wrong direction. Yes Sonic stories have not been the best games that have excellent stories. But again if they went the simple direction of trying to use the stories of the comics then the stories would be far better. Archie as i said have made stories with character development, and even made characters people hated more better.

Uh, it's not Eggman in Lost World. It's a new set of enemies. Were you not paying attention?
  • edited June 2013
On Wikipedia it says Eggman let them loose but shockingly they betray him and Sonic and Eggman are forced to work together.

Oh. Well, whatever, he's not the main bad guy. Good enough.

Isnt that the plot of every damn Sonic game recently.

Uhh...no? Sonic 4 had Eggman revive Metal Sonic at Stardust Speedway from Sonic CD and then build another Death Egg, and Sonic Generations had Robotnik and Eggman working together to try and erase Sonic from time. And as far as I know, Eggman was decidedly the villain in both Unleashed and Colors. In fact, is there a main-series Sonic game (or hell, even a side game that doesn't involve the Olympics) since Sonic Adventure 2 where Eggman actually did have to work together with Sonic?

Sonic games have never been burdened with the most complex (or high quality) plots. k?

Anyone played the stupidly named fan games Before the Sequel/After the Sequel? Kotaku did an article about them recently and I thought I might give them a go.

Yes. They're enormously well made and they have gorgeous soundtracks.

Cool. I'll definitely give 'em a go then.

Speaking of that, Eggman was actually more of a villain in Sonic Adventure 2. In one part of the game Eggman
holds Amy hostage at gunpoint, tricks Sonic into thinking he has the upper hand, he traps Sonic, tricks Tails into revealing that the emerald was fake, then finally he sends Sonic to explode in space, only Sonic escaped due to the fake emerald and chaos control.
say what you want about Eggman in the later games but at least in the Adventure games he had the brains to know how to pull something like that off.

I don't know, I thought he did a pretty good job trapping Sonic in a void outside of time in a plot to erase him from existence.

I like Sonic Rush but if there is one thing I freaking hate about it, its how cheap stages get. I love Sonic's Zone 5's music but I freaking hate the zone. Cheap deaths throughout and the boss is a load of shit. Once you get him down to the last two hits then he basically just repeats the same 2 things over and over. Oh and did I mention he has a one hit kill attack?

I finally managed to finish Generations 3DS. The Time Eater was even more of a pain in the ass than in the console and PC version and let me make myself clear. I have been stuck on the final boss in the 3DS version for around 3 months and to make myself even more clear. It didn't take me that long to beat the Time Eater in the Console version and I even gotten the trophy for beating the Time Eater without getting hit once. The reason why the 3DS version of the boss was a pain in the ass was because the 3D section had 2 annoying attacks. One where the Time Eater's hands will attempts to crush Super Sonic to push him back and another attack where he launched big clocks at Super Sonic forcing you to avoid the hands which can be moving at normal speed or extreme speed. Also there seemed to be a glitch where Super Sonic couldn't move too far some times when trying to avoid the clocks but at least I finally beat it.

First Sonic Lost World cutscene was shown in English at Sonic Boom. The cutscene shows when Eggman is betrayed by the Deadly Six as they use his Badniks to attempt to kill Eggman,Sonic and Tails.

Does anyone like Sonic X? I do like it (For one it adapts Sonic Adventure 1, and 2 and even explains some plot holes in the other games like how the moon was in Shadow The Hedgehog. Yes it has its flaws (Chris.) but I liked it.

Only seen the first episode or two, but it seemed OK to me. No Sonic SatAM though.
