I'm curious... How many girls play 'The Walking Dead'? ;>

Of course there are more of us. :)

Female gamer numbers are catching up to male gamer numbers. (For example, 4 females to 6 males.) It is safe to assume that at least one of these four females would enjoy non casual games. Which totals to many of us girls!

Although, I wonder how many females hide their gender, making an online environment seem to have less girls. For example, when I play Left 4 Dead with my name 'Anna', I am occasionally treated with female related comments from the opposite team. (These comments can be positive or negative.) However if I play as 'Strike' I am hardly commented on my name. I even played as 'Matt' for a while and never encountered name or gender related comments. (And my playing skill is either normal or above normal.) Ultimately, I find it's easier to play Left 4 Dead, Counterstrike Source, etc. when I suggest a male or gender neutral characteristic. The behaviour is an interesting phenomenon. :P

I don't think female gamer numbers will ever catch up to the male demographic because some games (even though most modern ones are not) are too competitive. Games like Starcraft 2 or Dota 2 have a pretty unforgiving community and (for some, I guess) steep learning curve.

starcraft and dota are hardly testosterone fueled action games, or did you mean they are exactly the type of games that a lot of girls play?

    StarCraft II?
I played with a master girl Terran player 4v4 once...
She's the leader of Team Bewbs. :)

Saw bunch of other gals that I can never catch up with... I'm scared of 1v1s, lol
they on the other hand are masters to grand masters. :o

to list a few titles I know played by girls & won.

    Dead Space
    Mass Effect
    Counter Strike
    StarCraft
    Star Wars
    Assassin's Creed
Hitman: Blood Money (1 saw my playthrough & bought it right away, lol)

& these r not the cutey or puzzle type games, they're the combat, bloody & horror genres

It's not vile to point out there are certain types of games women are predisposed towards (The Sims and Fable are quite popular, although I like them both too), but perhaps it would be more prudent to point out what women aren't very interested in - childish male power fantasies. Unfortunately, this is a premise which makes up the majority of our games.

I met my girlfriend of 8 years on a forum for Resident Evil and we play Silent Hill together. "Girl Games" are bullshit.

My BFF usually plays a lot more violent games than I do... Resident Evil, FPS, the works. And, yup, she's a girl.

    Fable?

that game can be very cutesy & make literally their perfect prince charming. :)

not really a good example of "childish male power fantasies"

I'm a chick who adores this game, among others.

Yes, I said 'women are more likely to enjoy some games such as The Sims and Fable' and then immediately afterwards 'women don't like childish male power fantasies like The Sims and Fable'. Makes perfect sense.

Funny notions of women. ;) I plan on playing Walking Dead. Skyrim is my favorite game (I play a Nord woman with a love for 2 handed cause ain't nothing so satisfying as a huge thumk on pixelated flesh). Fallout series, Call of Duty, Left 4 Dead (need a 3, peeps). Sims! *gasp* I hate Fable. At least I've only ever played the first one.

Horror is my favorite genre of games and it's annoying there aren't many titles that are actually scary. (Dead Space is not scary.)

To me, StarCraft II 1v1 is scarrier than any "horror" game/show i've watched, lol

I'm a girl, playing WD on Steam. Usually I'm not big on games for computers and would rather stick to my ps3 but I've been enjoying it on my laptop.

    ? lol
It's a strategy game, build base & Army, reason it's scary to me is because same1v1 is against a human player hence unpredictable to the untrained eye. :-)

    It's not a horror genre

Female. Been playing games since Pong and never stopped. My oldest son (27) will tell you some of his fondest memories are knocking his mother into the hot lava on Mario Kart when he was a kid. For the record, I saved Doug. Because that moron Kenny, who has seen plenty of walkers by now, calls out to the first thing he sees moving in the street, and damn near gets us killed. Carly comes out, guns blazing, saves our butts, and I think, that's what our group needs, a shooter. 5 minutes later, Kenny is telling her how they need to run the pharmacy, and does she say, " Hey, dumb ass. Since I just saved all of you, I think I know what I'm doing. " Nope. She says " You got it , boss". The dirty look Lily shoots her is exactly how I felt about that. Basically, she seemed like a weak little bitch. Then later when Lee tell her that she seems to have it together, she tells him " who me? I'm a mess" . Red flag number 2, she sounds weak. She goes on to tell you that Doug is brave, he seems pretty calm in all the chaos, helps out with the tech stuff, so I like him. When you have to choose between the 2, I looked at Carley for a moment and thought "fight, bitch!" She didn't seem to have any resourcefulness without her gun, so I grabbed Doug. I did another play through later and saved her, and liked her okay, but I liked my buddy Doug better.

Whether you were offended or not, he meant to be offensive. Banning only lasts a week and hopefully he'll learn some manners in the meantime.

Could you tell where exactly i disrespected or insulted anyone in any of my posts in this thread legally speaking ?, i don't think so, IMO that's just you being an histerycal girl that trully needs to be educated and is on her period. ;)

And for the mod, explain yourself because the presumably affected individual wasn't offended at all, so i don't think i did break any of the forum's rules, did i ?. or it was just a tantrum of yours ?.

I think it’s just that guys are more into horror movies then girls are. Except probably goths, tomboys, and “vampires."

Evidently he didn't learn anything on his little time-out, but then if his spelling is anything to go by, he's obviously not very bright.

I've been curious about the statics, too. Although I have to say, this account gets two votes, technically. My husband and I share, rather than try to manage two accounts for the same forum lol.

Could it be because English is not my first language ?. I bet you don't know as many languages as i do, and you wouldn't speak Spanish half as good as i speak English, answer in Spanish and we'll see who's the one who's not very bright. ;)

Yeah, you see, the problem is that you're now being an ass.

English is not my first language either, but I've spent enough time learning to use it properly. Besides, your previous comment is just unreasonable and uncalled for.

So, what do you do now? Try to show you're smart by trying to make someone speak Spanish on an English speaking forum... That is not how it works.

PS: Try showing you're a smart and educated human being, use a dictionary if you have to.

A lot of Walking Dead (TellTale) fanart and fanfiction are seemingly written by girls, by none other than them boosting how much they are a fangirl in every author's note.

Male personally. Though if you need a good clue for the ratio of boys:girls, just look at all the "Carley is alive!" 'debates'.

That does not mean female or not, it just be crazed fan that believe in something that will not happen, could have been ether gender.

I'm female and have been gaming since SNES. I play everything from adventure games to RPGs to FPS. It always annoys me when people ask about "girl games", because there's really no such thing. It's all just personal preference, and I don't think gender has all that much to do with it.

Honestly, I think a lot of girls just don't like to advertise their gender when gaming, which is understandable given the reactions we get. I've noticed that if I play online with a headset I tend to get gender-related questions from other players, whereas otherwise I get no such questions. Even just being in a game store or talking about games I've been approached as if it's rare for a girl to game, both by males and by females who either don't game or game casually.

I apologize if I sound like I'm ranting. I've just never understood this, and it gets old after awhile.

I play The Walking Dead on PC, but am tempted to try it out on PS3 as well. I saved Carly despite her battery confusion simply because she had the gun. I liked Doug too, but the gun seemed more important at the time.
