Who the 2 people in the distance really are.

edited January 2013 in The Walking Dead
A user on a forum I visit, Derp Y. Mail played around with the TTG extractor and extracted the last scene from the game. He moved to the silhuettes and look what he found.

Creepy huh?

Mods, remove this if it's not allowed, I couldn't find any rules against this.

Well, it's definetively not Omid and Christa then lol.
  • edited November 2012
    Well shit.

Christa looks terrible. JK, but damn nice job haha. Hopefully this turns out to be a hoax they look creepy as fuck I don't want them anywhere near Clem.
  • edited November 2012
I think this just shows further that we'll likely going to continue from where we left off. Also you can try to extract the scene yourselves, I don't really know how to do it though...

    No complaints here. Fuck yeah.

Hey there, I'm the guy. :v

Anyway, this isn't a hoax. I didn't use a TTG extractor, though. I used a generic game-scene extractor that analyzes an entire 3D scene and outputs a model file from it called "3D Ripper XD".

But yeah, not a hoax. Try it out yourself using Maya and the above program. Works with Max 2012 as well. :p

Really, at this point Telltale could use any of their character models as the shadowy figures - it doesn't mean anything. The one left looks a lot like their Dougie model and the one on the right is a bit Campman'ish.
  • edited November 2012
Honestly... I don't like how they look, and I hope they aren't the Season 2 Characters.
  • edited November 2012
Damn I hope that they change their minds about these characters... I don't like the look of them :( but I'm sure TTG will do the right thing when it comes down to this sort of stuff :) thanks for sharing though, I bet this will be all over the forum now lol :)
  • edited November 2012
I think the only thing this would prove is that they are new people, not how they look. They probably put random models in there because they have not designed season 2 characters yet.

If they intended the silhuettes to be Christa and Omid, it'd seem reasonable to use them. Instead they use these two characters that I can't remember seeing.

Exactly. The taller one looked like a walker to me lol. I don't think I would like to play as either one of them either because for me I like to have nicer looking protagonists than that.

    Clemmy all the way!

I'm going to take a guess those are just placeholder models. You've got to have something out there.

I think Cyreen has it right here, they just used character models. I think it's very unlikely that these will be what the people actually look like in Season 2.
  • edited November 2012
Well I'd assume it's random models as we are not supposed to know who they are, maybe there wasn't even a final plan yet aso to whom they might be.
I thought it's a couple though and possibly Omid and Christa but somewhat unlikely.

It pissed me off though that I arranged that Clementine would meet Omid and Christa at the train and instead I'm presented with a generic cliffhanger.

Red Herring. TTG knows people like to play around with the files, and that's where the campman name originated from.
Also look at the polygons on those guys. All the other characters are super detailed, but these two look kinda underdetailed as if the models were done hastily.

    This most likely just placeholders

No all models looks like that.

    Examples, spoilers of course:

The details are added during rendering or something I presume.

You'd be surprised how low-poly the main characters actually are! The only high detail area of them is their face and their hands, everything else is rather cheap on the poly-count, which is another reason the game is so well optimized. Smooth shading is what causes them to look more detailed. ;)

Ah, right. Excuse my ignorance XD

^^ I still hope Clem doesn't run into these two dudes, they look creepy as f*ck. Hopefully they are just there to be shadowy figures in the background, while not revealing who they really are. Can't wait for season 2; episode 1 :))

    Maybe they're walkers.

Agreed, something looks odd about them - a really tall, seemingly bald and skinny guy with a pudgy guy wearing shorts? Maybe they might turn out to be good people though, appearances can be deceiving, and they don't have weapons. Maybe they escaped Savannah and lost a group too.

Just a thought - what if they escaped Crawford? They certainly look dodgy enough to be a part of that place.

    it's chet and ben

but more likely it's just random models that mean nothing

Campman was not a red herring, it was what they used to refer to him internally(Telltale mentions this in their "questions for the walking dead team" thread), and is brought from the camp the car was near(??).

Though i wouldn't be surprised if they put these in purposefully after that.

I love how everyone assumes these guys can't be trusted or would be terrible protagonists for S2 because they're unattractive. Too bad there wasn't an option for Lee's last words to be "Clem, don't trust fat guys or bald guys." :D

I'm not sure TTG would put the actual S2 characters on there, but I don't think these two are necessarily bad guys. They look to be middle-aged men and it's not uncommon for those guys to be fat and/or bald. I doubt either of them will be the main character for S2, but it'll be interesting to see what role the two silhouettes play.

If this is true, then what happened to Christa and Omid? And what's the purpose of keeping the past game saves or telling Clementine to meet up with Christa and Omid or agreeing to have Christa and Omid take Clementine for?
  • edited November 2012

    That'd be my guess too.

Wouldn't be the first time something like this was done in a game.

probably place holders to throw us off. TT mentioned they know people like to mess with game files so they have codewords for things, and this was major enough to call for model replacements i think.

Like Campman, we never actually found out his name... The are probably just placeholders and they probably haven't really started planning any characters much yet, so really it doesn't matter what they put in that file at his stage because they will edit it and change it around and put new characters in etc etc :)

Remember all the placeholders they had in the trailer for the Walking dead? Christa blowing her brains out in the trailer for example. Most likely just placeholders.

If they DID put Christa and Omid's models in there, everyone would recognize them instantly, even at this distance. So as to avoid this, they'd put in... something else, whatever's there to put in. I doubt it's Season 2 characters.
  • edited November 2012
Think it might just be some walker models.
  • edited November 2012
The character models look a little too unique to just be placeholders for Christa and Omid IMO.
