Some people over at Reddit theorized that it could be models from other TTG games used as placeholders.

Holy shit its Dexter and Mandirk grownup

They clearly arent placeholders silly, if they were then why put in the hair?
  • edited November 2012
This got creepy. The guy on the right looks like a zombie...All in all, I'd say these are just placeholders.
  • edited November 2012
Let's try not to over-analyze this too much :D

To all the people saying they put in a low amount of effort on them: They're just silhouettes when we see them. This is a lot of detail for something that could have been a 2d sprite.

These are fully modeled characters, signs that season 2 is already in development. These guys just need textures and they will be full on people. I'm willing to bet you anything they are season 2 characters, not placeholders, specifically modeled for season 2.

    They look kinda like walkers

    C'mon, people, don't overthink it.

TTG didn't "expect" us to see them - so they're either placeholders or they're a bait and switch like "christa's suicide video".

Lol reminds me of squidwards suicide

But yes they look like walker models to me

    Is that John Madden?
  • edited December 2012
I played the game again and have pretty much deduced they're walker models. The pudgy one to the back looks like it uses the same model as one of the walkers you push off the fence in Episode 2.

I could totally see he him with a game board explaining to Clem how to avoid zombies and run a great defense, lol.

The first guy looks like Doug and the tall guy is defo a walker model, look at his arm.
They might have just thrown some models in there, it's not like it actually matters since they are silhouettes.

Kinda reminds me of Mermaidman and Barnacleboy...

No all models looks like that.

    Examples, spoilers of course:

The details are added during rendering or something I presume.

Maybe there's some LOD stuff going on? (Level of Detail)

I take it the head is gone for First Person style camera.

    HAHAHA holy shit!

That's creepy as fuck! Right guy looks either like a zombie or a straight up hick hillbilly pedophile cannibal and the right guy looks like his dumber, fatter brother or henchman.

I wonder if Clem will have to load the gun with the ammo she found and shoot them.
  • edited December 2012
Hey there, I'm the guy. :v

Anyway, this isn't a hoax. I didn't use a TTG extractor, though. I used a generic game-scene extractor that analyzes an entire 3D scene and outputs a model file from it called "3D Ripper XD".

But yeah, not a hoax. Try it out yourself using Maya and the above program. Works with Max 2012 as well. :p

Cool find and thanks for sharing.

We couldn't get a, like... Youtube movie of them walking over the hill and noticing Clem? Is that possible?

Think anybody from TTG can confirm or deny these characers as placeholders? I think itd be great attention to detail if they are actual planned characters in s2.

Good fucking job man.Well, its obviously not Christa and Omid then, damn. And Im sure TT wouldn't create completely new models just for this scene.

Probably placeholders. the 1 on the right looks like a walker

The one on the left IS a walker model. Just look at the episode 4 trailer at 1:16:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa6hDR6DHXE

Really, at this point Telltale could use any of their character models as the shadowy figures - it doesn't mean anything. The one left looks a lot like their Dougie model and the one on the right is a bit Campman'ish.
Agreed! The right one looks a bit like one of the St. Johns Brothers, though. We'll just have to wait and see who they are.

    PEDOPHILES!!
    Stranger danger Clem,stranger danger..

I don't understand how you get from two tiny shadows to this?

It's a 3D animation, you can view the whole scene and see what they look like. Not rocket science.

    Holy shit
  • edited December 2012
There probably place holders but this means that it was not Christa and Omid on the hill.
  • edited December 2012
That they are place holders can mean anything. It could be anyone! Well, not anyone, but I think you understand.

It's Molly and Michonne who will adopt Clem and raise her to be humanity's new messiah. She'll be so good at it she won't have to be crucified or anything, and will live a long life of rebuilding civilization and being awesome and happy.

That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.

    I support this!

I think the only thing this would prove is that they are new people, not how they look. They probably put random models in there because they have not designed season 2 characters yet.

my guess exactly. just look at the walking dead episode 1 video game teaser trailer and look at how those screenshots were never put in the final game such as glenn staying with the group as long as he did or kenny witnessing a women who looked like christa shoot herself in the head.
  • edited December 2012
Those people were never going to be Christa and Omid. It would be completely anti-climactic.

Here's the deal: While we will find out what happened to Clem and who those people are, we definitely won't find out immediately at the beginning of season 2. Telltale is going to use your anxiety over Clem's fate to string you along for a while.
  • edited December 2012
Personally i think it could be Omid and Christa but i think there's a chance that one of them might be Lilly.

    1) They're placeholders.
    2) They're pedophiles.
    3) I hope Clementine blasts them.
  • edited December 2012
Someone confront TellTale about this. If they admit they're placeholders, then we're cool. If they don't respond or they don't denounce these two figures, then we're playing as them.

If I have to play as either of those motherfuckers in season 2 I'm going to cry.
