Clementine hatred

I see that some people on the forum now hate Clem for an odd reason .
Why ? Is it because that she got kidnapped by Campman and thus getting Lee bitten ? I mean people assume that Clem took of on her own and that it's her fault that Lee , Kenny and Ben are dead but if that's the case then why the hell did she drop her hat and the walkie - talkie considering those two are very important to her which pretty much means that she got kidnapped and din't ran away .
So do you guys hate her because of Lee's death ?
And also who do you guys blame more for Lee getting bitten : Clem or Campman , personally i blame Campman .

Shit, just last night I was being weirded out by reading a message of your usual 'obsessed with clem' forumite.

some people hate her, but that's just the one's that don't like children in general, or find her annoying (for whatever reason...) or are pissed off by the fact, that they're forced to take care of her.

The majority, (me too) are huge fans of her. Well she's my favorite videogames character, and the others on my list are great chars like Gordon Freeman, Allistair (DA:O), Garrus Vakarian (ME trilogy), John Marston (RDR) and many more.

No, I don't blame her at all for Lee's death, but that sicko, who napped her. She didn't ran off, as she would never leave her precious hat behind.

Its a thing as well that because most people like her its cool to hate her.

Lee's death - it's his own fault. It was an accident. Stranger did not set up a bite, because he was surprised when I learned that Lee bitten. Clem... she ran away from the mansion for looking for parents, then Lee get a bite. But he could get this bite anywhere else, even if Clementime would't run away, it's fate, you cannot blame anyone in this situation. I say that not because I like Clem more then outher characters. But just... do you really thought that Lee live to see the end?

One of the definitions of accident is "an unfortunate event resulting especially from carelessness or ignorance" which kinda sorta could be argued to be at least partly at fault of the person, in this case Lee. What he did, resulting in the accident, was pretty stupid, to be fair.

You've said that you would shoot her if given the option, keep her out of season 2, and there are countless other post that are the same. But no you don't hate her now that there is a thread about it...weak..super weak.
  • edited April 2013
Clem shares some of the blame herself. If not for Lee, then at least for Kenny and Ben if he lived. Clem went to see the Stranger willingly, but got grabbed in the alley or the backyard. I'd say, that in Lee's case she only shares part of the blame, but if she had listened to Lee and stayed away from the guy, Lee would never have been in that position in the first place. I'm still a huge fan, and I could never hate her though. And, after Lee's death, she'll probably never do something like this again.

I said I'd shoot her if she was infected and was going to become a walker. I wouldn't shoot her for no reason. Also, I already stated why I didn't want her in season 2. Ill just go ahead and copy and paste it here

"my point is that it would be stupid if after everything Clem and Lee go through in the first game, they just throw another protagonist in place of lee and expect to get the same emotional investment. You cant expect Clementine to just forget about Lee because some new person arrived, it would make the first game lose all feeling.""

I have never said once that I hated Clementine

I don't see how anyone can hate Clem; she's just too adorable.

Hell, I remember trolling both of them in a grins and giggles playthrough; threw Alistair under the bus, then went and let myself croak in the ending just so Loghain would hate himself for the rest of his life. :p

I don't like children, but Clementine is awesome.

Just as there will always be that one dude who immediately dislikes a youtube video 2 seconds after it is uploaded, there will always be people who dislike the more popular aspects of a game.

Indeed it is; throughout the game, Morrigan and I had quite a few laughs at his expense.

I always felt a little sorry for Alisrair, he is very naive like a child. He and Ben are a little similar, they both behave like children.

Clem got Lee killed, because if Lee didn't love her he would not have gone looking for her and got killed. You have to remember, he coould have just let Clem get killed or raped by campman.

To be honest, part of the reason I don't like her that much is because of her fanbase. Some people seem so obsessed with her it's almost scary, to the point where they wouldn't buy season 2 if she wasn't in it. I mean that is bloody ridiculous, because of 1 character not making an appearance? God, I really wish they gave her ending closure, heck, they should've made multiple endings for her depending on your choice.

If you teach her throughout the game that killing is ok and you tell her not to trust anybody, after the credits you see her in the future as a bandit. She then goes to visit Lee's grave(Which she made herself) the end

If you tell her to find a group, you will see her in the future after the credits, with random survivors. She then goes to visit Lee's grave(Which she made herself) the end

If you tell her to find Omid and Christa, shows her in the future, standing over Lee's grave, with a little girl and Omid and Christa

I dunno, maybe the whole grave part is unnecessary and lame but I felt Clementine should go to his grave, so you know she hasn't forgotten about him. I dunno, im sure others can come up with better endings than me. I am not writer.

Anyway...It would kinda have that Bioshock 2 effect. Where depending on what you do, it would effect Eleanor.

I don't dislike Clementine at all, but I do think she indirectly caused Lee to get bitten. Lee wouldn't have put himself in danger if Clem hadn't wandered off and gotten kidnapped, but it's hard to blame a 9 year old that was simply trying to find her parents.

Well...imagine if Mass Effect 3 did not include Shepard at all, and you just took control of a random dude helping to fight off the reapers. That would certainly suck.

So condemn one character because you don't like other people?

As for that example you brought up, you're just generalizing a big group of people by assuming an extreme to be true. Having read the forum thread where someone asked if people would still play season 2 without Clem, the majority of responders said they will play whether or not Clem is in it.

Lee's grave? Who will bury him?

In general I like this idea. I prefer the story of another group of survivors, where Clem will be episodic character (as Molly or Chuck), or Clem will not be at all, but I want to know that she's all right. It's better than do her main character again, and one day helplessly watch as she dies.

P.S. There is nothing bad in the fact that people love character - Clementine, seriously she's most beautifull character what I ever saw, but people, please remember that this is just a fictional character, not a real child. And please, don't take this fanaticism to madness, it's disgusting, you pollute the concept of family happiness and love.
