Clementine is more overrated than Master Chief, Cloud Strife and Sephiroth combined.

You are in denial if you think she is not overrated. She is just a sweet mature 8 year girl with a good voice actor that goes through hell, which of course, in a zombie apocalypse, everybody would be going through the same thing. I guess those traits alone make her the best child character ever? give me a break, ok, she will on occasion be helpful, but so was Sherry Birkin(RE2) Emil(Nier) and Carl(From The Walking Dead TV Show) So even her being resourceful doesn't really make her stand out

You cannot convince me that Clementine is not overrated, sorry, not a chance in hell.

Saying she's well-written is my opinion. You don't have to agree with it, but you should have constructive justification rather than just bashing people.

You give no reasons as to why she's overrated, other than "she just is".

It seems as though your dislike is simply because she is a popular character. The other characters you mention are popular characters as well, so it makes sense. If a large amount of people care about something, there will always be people who say it is overrated, who would likely not say that if it didn't have fame.

No, I already gave reasons as to why she isn't really that "special"

In Russia we have a saying: "The taste and color of comrades there" . Someone loves Clem, someone no, why would someone that something to prove? Let everyone stay in his opinion.

She does change the atmosphere, mainly because you're supposed to take care of her through the entire game. She's an important part to the plot, i think it makes sense as she gets kidnapped by the stranger, there wouldn't be any point to kidnapping her otherwise, she's there so you can be a father figure to her.

And i'm gonna say this again. Remember Chuck? It doesn't matter if she's a cute little girl, she'll die one if she won't protect herself. She saved quite plenty of lifes, including Molly's and Lee's. She's not just a little girl, she's a survivor.

If Clem just sat in the background being adorable all the time, i'd quickly lose my interest. That's not the only reason why i like her. It's because she's useful. She tries to help as much as possible, and that's nice, that makes you care about her more then ever. So when she's kidnapped, that's when the atmosphere comes in, you're not only on a goal to get a boat while Clementine follows behind you, you're on a mission to save a life, of a life-saver.

That's what i feel anyway. Being cute isn't the only thing that matters, and Clementine shows that well.

    Check your facts.
Clem never saved Lees life. He saved her life.

You remind me of those Final Fantasy fans that goes on about how Cloud is the best main character in a video game ever, after hearing that all the time, i started to dislike Cloud...a little, labeling him as a overrated character, or how people keep saying Halo is the best shooter ever, hence, why some people think Halo is overrated(which it is)

Saying Clementine is the best child ever in any media is just too much dude. You are really starting to make me dislike Clementine even more, again, the obsession with Clementine is scaring me, oh god Telltale, keep her out of season 2, I beg of you

    True.

Thing is its a legit claim Clem might be the best child character in a game ever. No other child has drawn the emotive connection she has. Why keep having a go at a legit claim. Halo is over rated, Clementine is not.

My top 5 of favorite characters for all "The Walking Dead" universe:
    1. Lee.
    2. Rick,
    3. Michonne,
    4. CARLY.
    5. Megan. NOW THIS IS THE BEST OF THE BEST. Clem is over overrated. Most of you people don't even know clem black.

Um did you skip episode 1 and 5 or something , at the beggining Clem saves Lee from her babysitter by giving him the hammer , at the drugstore she gave Lee the cane and in episode 5 while Campman is distracted she hits him giving Lee time to attack and if you fail to kill him Clem does the job for you , either are you blind or you want ignore all the good things Clementine did ?

lol. I know that Clem is black and so what?
    1. Lee.

He is a character which player makes the himself, you can make a really monster like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdtAlcEclbk , or you can make a hero, good guy. So, It turns out that your favorite character - this is the character which you have done? I have nothing against it, but I think that Lee, a rather weak and not bright character, sorry.

Right, because that hammer Clem handed to Lee in episode one totally didn't save Lee from the walker.

His live started to be worth living since she stepped into it. If it wasn't for her, I don't know how bad Lee would have wanted to live. Personally, I think Lee would have chosen 3 months with her by his side, than x-years alone. But of course that's debatable too.

Clem never saved Lees life. He saved her life.

Clementine handed the hammer over to Lee in episode 1, when he needed to kill the babysitter walker.

Clementine crawled through the vent in episode 2 and unlocked the door for Lee and the group so they could escape out of the meat locker. Otherwise, they could have stayed in the meat locker and get chopped up into food.

And what about that time in episode 4, when if you got your ass kicked by Molly, she almost smashed an ice pick at your head, but Clementine stopped her?

I don't know about you, but did you even play the game fully? You're missing quite a lot of stuff here.

Actually the reasons you gave support her more than going against her.
  • edited April 2013
Clem saves Lee's ass plenty of times.

-He'd have died in her house had she not left the safety of the treehouse with that hammer.
-She saves the group by going through the vents at the dairy and opening the door.
-She saves Molly's life if the player brings her along, and Omid's life if she stays at the house.
-She Shoots the Stranger right in the head during the fight if Lee doesn't strangle him.

Sure Lee has to save Clem a few times, but that's their relationship. They both need each other for both physical protection and to support each other emotionally as they keep going from one bad situation to an even worse one. Neither of the would have gotten so far without the other.

Clem saved Lee most importantly by, at least in my case, making him a better person.

She most likely would die, but Lee would have died days sooner. If she just stayed in her treehouse(where the walkers cannot reach) it would take several days for starvation to do her in, and Lee would die quickly from the surprise attack by the babysitter.

So? That was our point, they need each other to survive.

And besides, i don't think that's only the case because she's a kid. She's not supposed to be treated like a kid, she's supposed to be ALIVE.

Have you ever played Heavy Rain? Well, there's this one scene where there's a woman, and she's helping a wounded man escape as he was accused of murder. And it's incredible, because it looked like so much effort, but she did it just for him. What, are we gonna treat that woman like a kid too?
Nope, he was like that at the start.

Nope nope. Clementine was there to help make decisions tougher. If Clementine wasn't with you, Lee would kick Ben out of the group without hesitation. If you happened to defeat Molly in episode 4, Lee would have probably put a bullet to her head.

Plus, during the station wagon decision in episode 2, a lot of players, as i seen from let's plays, had a hard time deciding whether they want to take the stuff from the wagon or not, because Clementine didn't want to as the stuff didn't belong to the group.

She's there so you won't make any of the wrong decisions that will make you become a monster. Lee wasn't the same since the very start, Clementine inflicts your decisions due to her good will, as i pointed out above.

Nailed it. You can say that Clementine may not have made it far from her tree-house without Lee, but it was reciprocal.

As a team they supported each other structurally, working together to get out of the locker, or bring back the cutting torch. As family they relied on each other emotionally, being one of the few consistent examples of mutual trust throughout the story.

He was on the way to prison for murdering someone...

One of the biggest aspects of the story is Lee's redemption through Clementine. By taking care of her he comes to peace with himself and sort of atones for his past wrongdoing.

Redemption - bah! The bastard senator had it coming.

Clementine is Lee Everetts redemption, and a reason to live. The man in the cop car seems angry and hopeless, he really does not give a damn anymore. Clementine saves Lee, she gave him a reason to exist... a purpose. What greater thing can someone do than give another a meaning in life.

It's not like the wife could have lied to the senator and told him she was single. We all know such things never happen and it is always the male's fault.

Considering what little we hear about the senator, it's based on conjecture. Though I always assumed that he knew it was an affair. People seem to make their own judgements on what exactly happened when Lee got back.
