Telltale's new series for E3

mixnmojo has picked up a little snippet of information from Telltale's latest press release that may excite you...
Last but not least, we’re gearing up for E3. If you’ll be at the show and would like to see Telltale’s newest games, let’s schedule a meeting! We will be showing a sneak peek of the final Wallace & Gromit episode, plus a brand new series that we’re announcing at the show. Should be pretty exciting…
The article says that this is not a new season of Sam & Max, but an entirely brand new series. So, let's get guessing! Of course it could be a brand new IP which isn't based around a franchise... what do you think? We'll find out soon enough at E3 (2-4 June).

Does this mean that Sam & Max season 3 won't be coming soon? It's a pity if that's the case.

If the new game is a licence, one thing that would be really awesome to see would be
Episodic Discworld. They have to some day, right?
...yeah, that. I've been rereading the books and remembering why I loved it so much when I was thirteen. Another thing I'd love would be
    Futurama!!
Stop taking the words from my... fingers.

Actually, I've been comparing both of those things specifically to the Sam & Max games for some time. I think it's because they parody a lot of the same things; I probably started after playing What's new, Beelzebub?, which depicts Hell in almost the same way as Discworld and has some Futurama parallels that were clear to someone such as myself who'd just finished marathoning every Futurama episode and obsessing over the show. Mostly I just notice little coincidences and laugh. Like when
    Peepers
told Sybil to "forget all about old Stoneface". It's funny to a Discworld fan. Maybe.

So yeah, Discworld and Futurama would be cool to see, though Discworld already has three adventure games.

    Um.
    UM.
    UM.
    INVADER ZIM.

Yeah, Futurama is my number one choice but a new Discworld would be good too! Maybe bring Lewton back from Discworld Noir? the 'Using clues like inventory objects' was innovative at the time.

How about a game based on Red vs Blue? lol :p

As a huge Discworld fan, I'd certainly love new games... but I don't think this is what Telltale has in store. Terry hasn't given any sort of hint about secret projects (which he would be doing had something like this been in the planning) and he's been hard at work finishing up his latest novel, to be published in October (Unseen Academicals).

I'm happy just to wait for the announcement :) But you guys go ahead and speculate!

Mmmmmm, Discworld and Telltale does sound like a marriage made in heaven :D

Maybe they are pulling something on us.

A new series of Sam & Max episodic games!
  • OMG OMG please let it be Monkey island, Day of the Tentacle or maybe Bone episode 3? :)

I'm just going to wait for them to announce the new IP, because most of my speculations are useless pieces of crap, soooooo...

Yeah, Futurama is my number one choice

I would love a futurama adventure game
How about a game based on Red vs Blue? lol :p

that might be good, if done right.

Futurama pleeze? That would rock! I'm gonna take a more realistic guess now and say it's something not as awesome.

How about Telltale Games: The Game? Each episode would be a stage of the game making process Design, Pitching to companies, Art, Programing, PR etc.

Or The Mighty Boosh! Ultimate artistic licence as absolutely anything could happen! Too pitched to the UK market tho, i know. :)

I'd play that game. We'd have to get Graham to design the characters.

The Adventures of Tintin would be beyond awesome :)

I wouldn't mind a game starring any one of these characters. :)

I think will decide to don't make a liscenced video game, and will do an original idea and it'll be a cult classic

A Dopefish point & click would be the single greatest thing to ever be a thing.

The only problem would be the dialogue tree:

    Swim

    Swim

    Hungry

    Belch

    Not true!

Square Enix managed to do one of the best games ever with the last character there :)

True, but this is an adventure game. As for Garfield, adventure games rely a lot on humor.

As much as I would love one of my favorite abandoned licenses to be picked up by Telltale, I'm praying it is something wholly original. Something new and different. B)

depends on what you like. A lot of my fav adventure games are humorless: Gabriel Knight, Phantasmagoria, Longest Journey, etc.

One of my wishes is Dark Crystal, though I've posted that here before. Henson + Telltale = Heaven.

New movie in the works too to help with the crossover marketing.

    Phantasmagoria

I wouldn't say Phantasmagoria is humorless. Some of the acting is top-grade hilarity. :p And the rat puzzle in the sequel: so illogical that it enters comedy territory and conquers said territory with an iron rule.

Ah, but I kid the Phantasmagoria. It remains as one of my favorite FMV games.

True, I was just pointing out that I don't think it's funny and is a stupid liscence.

Is that blades of stenchar III or IV? and what has happened to oinktoast?? It's a pity Brendan's so busy these days we haven't got an update on this classic series in ages :D:D:D

We're looking for some advice on ways to spread the word about the new series when it's announced... check out the post here and let us know what you think!

I don't really have a suggestion for you, but what I want to say...

In recent interviews Kevin Bruner and others have been talking about original IP's again, saying stuff like 'yeah, we have some plans ready to go'. Could the fact that you guys are looking for as much exposure as possible for the next series-announcement mean that this will be that long-rumored original IP? I mean, if there's not an existing fanbase for it yet, you have to do some more work to draw attention to yourself...

Did I just win a million dollars, again?

P.S. Yes, I know, I don't really believe someone from Telltale is really going to answer to this post. But hey. I love being a detective (Just like in Telltale's new secret IP?).

I keep thinking this is going to be a telltale IP, especially with the other thread, with a license having fans prior to the game.

EDIT: hadn't read the latest post, I agree Tjibbbe

So, Telltale announcing a new series at E3.

LucasArts is rumoured to be resurrecting a "classic franchise" to be revealed at E3.

Dan's said he'd like to work on resurrecting old LucasArts IP if a deal can be struck with LucasArts (From July 2006).
GI: A lot of those LucasArts franchises are still very popular - you spoke about Day of the Tentacle. Is there a chance you'll be able to wrangle a few more of those away for more episodes? Are you working on that at all?

Connors: It's definitely on our minds and it's definitely something we think about. Maybe I can give you more information a while from now. It's definitely something that makes good sense to everybody. For them it's the same thing. For them it's "What's the business model? What's the retail model?" It's not their type of game - it's not Star Wars, it's not with the movie, with the lightsaber - an action game. When trying to do the two things at the same time it makes it challenging. They've been trying to figure out the right solution, and hopefully Telltale is part of it.

And of course LucasArts reregistered the trademark for Maniac Mansion in October last year, remember?

    Jake, where's that mat?
