Ok, so one thing I found immediately alarming is the term "faggot" being used indiscriminately throughout the song. Now, I don't get all disgusted when a rapper chooses to use the term, I'd be a hypocrite if that was the case honestly seeing as though I'm a fan of such musicians as Tyler, the Creator and G.G. Allin. But I feel this would be a good transition to the discussion of the word being used in rap as a whole and if it holds any negative connotations to the genre as a whole.
Alright, no more fucking around. I really wanted to share quite a controversial music video by M.I.A. It's suppose to be a protest for the Sri Lanka massacres that are being kept under close wraps as of right now (although it supposedly ending officially in 2009). The music video depicts several armed military forces invading an apartment complex and snatching a redheaded teenager out of the complex and throwing him onto a prison bus filled with other redheaded youth who are then transported to a isolated location and promptly executed.
Thanks for the bump.

The song by Hollywood Undead reminds me quite a bit of this little gem by (Hed) P.E. Extremely vulgar and over-the-top but a fun little track nonetheless.
I just find it immature honestly. It's a dumb attempt to be edgy that's quickly going out of fashion. I though it was lame when Eminem was using it in the early 2000's and it's even more lame today.

Unfortunately it fails to capture the nuances of the Tamil Insurgency. It was an incredibly ugly civil war all around and atrocities were regularly carried out by military forces and rebels alike. Thankfully, it's over now.

Action Bronson is a great rapper. His voice and delivery reminds me of Ghostface Killah (of Wu-Tang fame). The production in this songs is excellent as well.
Understandable as well. Especially when it's used indiscriminately throughout a song without any lead in can come off as ludicrously juvenile. And as I shared, (Hed) P.E. is one of those bands that has now joined up with the aesthetic "appeal" of Juggalo metal. So, although I genuinely loved there first few LP's, stuff like Only In Amerika are just "3edgy5me" bait for suburban teenagers. I've heard a couple tracks by him a while ago and although quite a lyrists, I've never been partial to his work. It might be because his production work sounds quite familiar to me with someone like Mac Miller, blugh!
Now, I love Diabolic. He's a bit like Immortal Technique (in fact he has been featured on quite a few of his songs) and has some amazing content in his work.

Diabolic is pretty awesome. Fightin' Words was one of my favorite albums last year. Diabolical Sounds is probably my favorite song by him. The way he wraps his flow around DJ Premier's beats is unreal.

My brain shuts off anytime I hear Nicki Minaj, I just can't listen to her seriously. Altough I heard she used to be quite exceptional.
Kanye is a douche, but I don't hate his musicianship he shows on some of his songs. And I'd even say is quite the producer when he really tries. Although he isn't exactly Big Pun when it comes to his rapping.
Fuck Rick Ross.
And I know very little about Jay-Z, other than Chuck D and Nas have deep-rooted beef with some of his corporate business techniques which makes me raise an eyebrow to some of his shady behavior. Although he did do a pretty good job on the track.
Here's one of my favorite Kanye joints: Monster!

Surprisingly the best verse came from Nicki Minaj, who bodied Kanye and fucking Jay-Z with easily the best verse of her career.
Nicki was pretty good, but unfortunately she rode the Cash Money Gravy Train into oblivion.
Ye is one of the best producers of our time. Not the best lyricist though. He's pretty good when he's rapping about his own psychosis.
Why do you hate Rick Ross so much? He's very "meh" in my opinion.
Not sure about Chuck D, but Nas' beef with Jay-Z was much more personal and ugly than that. They were fighting for "king of NY" after Biggie died. Both of released diss tracks that almost ended the other's career. By all accounts, it was the Stalingrad of rap beef.

I disl- hate Rick Ross because of what he stands for, or lack thereof. He's a product of an incestuous industry of rappers stealing each others identity and marketing themselves as a powerhouse of noncreative subject matter and boring production. He has nothing.
Not banging enough to match anything trap influenced, and not engaging enough to match anything conscious or interesting.

Oh shit, not bad. I thought ICP and Twiztid had beef though? Or maybe that was them and Blaze? Anyway, I too love Madrox as a rapper, but something about Monoxide Child's delivery always made me turn slightly more to him.
But, that Shaggy and Violent J verse was... Well, it's Shaggy and J I guess.

Let's talk about the most exciting thing to happen to rap in years.
Control.
Two years ago, Kendrick Lamar dropped a verse on Big Sean's Control in which he called himself "King of New York" and fired shots almost every mainstream rapper in the industry. People went completely apeshit. It was hilarious and injected a dose of competitive spirit that rapped has lacked for a long time.
Now, here we have Big K.R.I.T, one of the artists Kendrick name-dropped. His response is one of the most epic raps I've ever heard, Southern or otherwise. It must be heard to be believed.

An incredible love track. The Roots remains one of the most surprising discoveries this year for me so far.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MJCHeEQV454
I agree J's verse is meh well I don't hate it, but I didn't love it. But I thought Shaggy's verse was surprisingly decent. As for Twiztid and ICP having beef... Yeah I've heard rumors and that would explain why Twiztid left and created their own label, but according to ICP they're still friends and they did release a Dark Lotus album in the middle of last year so who knows.

The subject matter on the album are quite dark. Delving with prejudice being one of the prominent themes so maybe the video is a visual representation of things falling apart.
It is quite weird though, although I love the video and think it is shrouded in just enough mystery that you can interpret it in different ways.
Another track off the album. By far one of the most haunting and immensely tragic songs I've ever heard. Not a rap track either, it's a spoken word which adds to the somber tone Ursula (I think that's her name) delivers.
Here's OutKast with one of their coolest love (ok, sex) songs. I'm not usually big in this type of rap. But the rhymes are on point, the beat is awesome and the live jazz instrumentation is funky as hell. Fun fact: Speakerboxx/The Love Below is the first rap album I ever owned, way back in 03.
Eh, never liked OutKast. And was never partial to sex songs, I feel they're there to act as filler content. Not to say there aren't some fucking great sex songs out there (Blac Vagina Finda by Onyx is still a standout from Bacdafucup) but too often it just lingers, a great example is Lil' Kim. Who I find is a terrific rapper with some great delivery, but too many times she's asserting her sexual escapades in a vein attempt to come off rebellious.

this is a really thoughtful song about a dark time in American history. Special props go to R.A The Rugged Man, who raps about his father's role in the war and how it crapped on his life, even long after he returned home.
Just found a female rapper I like by the name Sarah Ross, but she sings country also, so country rap I believe they call it. Blah I usually hate country, but she ain't bad. Found her through the Moonshine Bandits (another country rap band) that I found through Boondox on twitter lol.
"Country rap" sounds weird, although if Boondox falls under that category, I think I'll pass. But I think I will check out Sarah Ross anyway cause you never know.
Oh yeah, and I had told you a while back that there was a female rapper I had forgot, well her name is Jean Grae and she is pretty ill.

You can consider it done. I thought since we three were the only predominant users posting, making a more err catchy title would possibly attract people to the discussion but it really doesn't matter to me.

Ehh I don't mind it. It's not like they are using it as a term for gay people. It's just a word being used in the song.
No, right I understand.
It's a term that is definitely not for everyone, but I do think that using it doesn't necessarily mean any malicious or ill-intent.
