  • Still, 120 is highly unlikely, and I can't think of a single character that is over 80 except Maester Aemon and Melisandre or like, Maester Cressen or Grand Maester Pycelle. So apparently Red Priests and Maesters get really old, or men stuck in trees, but most doesn't get to old.

People didn't have longer lifespans, did they? One would think that the further you get in time, the older you get.

  • Something I wonder about though... does Dany have any real power? Or more so any authority that overrides Elaena's? (I love Elaena btw! Which is surprising as I actually have a pretty low opinion of the Targaryens) She speaks as though she's in charge but to my knowledge she's simply the Queen-mother. Am I wrong or is Dany basically trying to enact authority that she doesn't even have?

That's what I was hoping for!

  • They actually did. Ancient people lived hundereds of years while at the GoT time people wouldn't get that far, they'd probably get more than the avergae person of today so 120 isn't a stretch by any means though I understand as it's your story.

  • I thought they lived reasonably long in the ancient times, then it went downhill completely during the age of Wikings because everything was just horrible. Granted, GoT is more middleage, but I reckoned that from there, the age went upwards from there. Maybe Ibshould remember my history better. :3

Y'all chose to leave the King's quarters and let Ser Alliser escort you to your chambers. This will help me flesh Ser Alliser out a bit, and it will also help me progress the story quicker. She really couldn't have done much more in the chambers there, and I would likely have chosen the same.

Next part should be up tomorrow, mates. Jeyne'll be back, and she is at that guardsman's mercy.

    I have a couple new chapter/epilogue names for y'all!

    Chapter III: The Fall

Epilogue III: A Night to Remember

Chapter IV: The Son of Ice and Fire

Chapter V: The Wolf and the Dragon

Epilogue V: Chaos is a Ladder

    Chapter VI: The North Remembers

    Epilogue VI: Adamant and Gallant

Some of them are references obviously, but they fit very well into what will happen. Tell me what references you can find! I hope you will enjoy this just as much as I enjoy planning it!

s> Something I wonder about though... does Dany have any real power? Or more so any authority that overrides Elaena's?

That's the thing. She really doesn't, but she wishes and still wants to believe that she has the power she once possessed.

She speaks as though she's in charge but to my knowledge, she's simply the Queen-mother. Am I wrong or is Dany basically trying to enact authority that she doesn't even have?

Okay, like this. Daenerys is, as stated in Cat's first part this chapter, the Mistress of War. Now, this term hasn't changed a lot since the Baratheon/Lannister reign at all. she advises in this area because she supposedly has expertise in the matter. She obviously still wants to be queen but was asked, or more or less forced to step down for some... questionable decisions. This was around 12-15 years ago. She left the throne to Tyrion Targaryen.

No, she isn't in charge in any way really, but she is a bit too stubborn and annoying to realize this. Elaena is a kind woman, and daughter, and would never want to take away something Dany always wanted, that's why she lets her decide in few matters that really is so minor that no one would care, except the few it concerns (Like Mysarion and Laemond will be the only one that will care about the Mysarion decision for example)

Hope that answers your question, and feel free to ask again if you wonder something.

    Jeyne II

    At the Eyrie

“Now, now. We shouldn’t do anything rash now, guardsman.” Jeyne tried to calm the guard down, but she knew it was in vain, this guard made up his mind the second he saw Jeyne sitting next to Jasline’s corpse. “I would need you to stand up and walk in front of me.” Jeyne quickly hid the dragonglass knife in a hidden side-pocket. “You can ask the lord, I spoke to him only minutes ago. I wouldn’t have time with this!” The guard let out a cold chuckle. “You sound awfully stressed, darling. Now stand the fuck up, I’m putting you in prison for now.” Jeyne was trying her best to sound desperate and scared. “Please! If you would just get the lord then he woul-” before she could continue she was interrupted by a voice coming closer to her and the guard.

“What about the Lord?” The man asked, who turned out to be the Lord himself. “Found this woman crouching next to the corpse of Jasli… of this cleaner.” the guard didn’t let Jeyne out of his sight while he spoke. Richard didn’t seem to care that the guard here knew Jasline, instead he gave Jeyne a surprised look. “Is this really true, Jenye?” Jeyne knew there was no use to lie right now. “Yes. But I came mere minutes ago. I found her like this. She was one of my few friends, why would I kill her?” Jeyne explained, and the guardsman just growled at her, before he said something. “Yes, girl. Why would you?” Richard gave the guard a slightly annoyed glare, which the guardsman didn’t see, since he only looked at Jeyne.

“Be quiet guard.” Lord Richard told him. “How… I’m sorry, Jeyne. Go on then, take her to jail.” Jeyne’s eyes widened. “Wha… Nonononono… I cannot go to prison, you hear? I will not!” Jeyne pleaded to Richard, and he gave her a sad look. “I’m sorry, Jeyne. If you haven’t done this, we will find out who did.” he said, and waved at the guard. The guard took her and tied her hands up in front of her. “Start walking, cleaner.” the guard said, like a cleaner’s work would be a lot worse than a guard’s. Jeyne was about to say something sarcastic about it, but decided against in the lord’s present. Instead, she started to walk, with the guard close behind. “Oh, and guardsman. Put her in one of the least leaning skycells, will you?” The guard nodded and followed Jeyne once again. Jeyne looked over her shoulder and saw the Lord kneeling down to Jasline, with a sad expression on his face. She didn’t get a closer look however, the guard pushed her hard, almost causing her to lose her balance. “Go to the seven hells, guard.” Jeyne said, with emphasis on guard. “Fuck you.” the guard simply said, and they continued to walk towards the skycells.

They had walked for a couple of minutes by now, and they are now pretty close to the skycells. But first, they had to walk past Jeyne’s and Tom’s chambers. And of course, just as she saw her doors, Tom walked out of the chamber. He looked up and saw Jeyne, and gave her a smile, then she saw the guard and her hands being tied, and the smile faded rather quickly. “What is the meaning of this?” Tom asked surprised. The guard chuckled dryly “If it isn’t Tommy the fucking Fighter. What a pleasure… Your bitch here has killed Jasline.” Tom’s eyes widened, as he gave Jeyne a surprised glare, but quickly regained his composure, and then gave the guard a cocky grin. “Well, if Jeyne is my bitch… I suppose Jasline was your bitch, Willem.” Finally Jeyne could put a name to this guard, yet gave Tom a curious look on how he knew this man. The guard, Willem almost turned red of anger, yet stood his ground, instead of charging at the man he clearly had some history with.

“You fuckin’ bastard. I loved that woman, you hear? You know bloody well that I did.” he growled at Tom, who just gave him a cold smile and took a step closer. “Aye. But don’t you remember, during my short time as a guard here, together with you? You told me, loud and fucking clear, ‘You can joke about anything’.” By now, Willem was boiling with anger. “Clearly I was wrong.” Tom took yet another step towards Willem, and now they stood pretty close to each other. “In your opinion, yes. Now I would like you to let my wife go.” Now it was Willem’s turn to give Tom a cold smirk. “Can’t do that. She is going to a skycell, Lord’s orders.” Tom was about to answer, but Jeyne interrupted.

“It’ll be fine. You know I can handle myself, darling.” she said to him, and gave him a calming smile. Tom gave her a short, sweet smile, before he turned around and started to cough heavily. Jeyne had heard this before, it wasn’t a real cough. He was convincing however, Jeyne could barely tell that it was fake, Willem definitely couldn’t. Once he was done, he turned back to them and just asked one thing. “Could I just give her a kiss before you take her away?” It was quiet for a while, but in the end, Willem reluctantly nodded, and Tom more or less flew right at her and kissed her. Immediately, Jeyne realized why he had coughed so heavily. He was transferring a sharp object through each others mouth. It felt like a sharp piece of glass, the size of about half a thumb. After Tom felt that he had transferred the glass, he stopped kissing her, giving her a confident look. “Good Luck, Jeyne.” he said. “Thank you.” Jeyne answered, and quickly pretended to wipe her mouth, but instead grabbed the piece of glass as fast as she could.

Another guard was approaching from the corridor to the left of them, with a very questioning look. He was a young blond man with blue eyes. “What is going on here?” He asked curiously, almost like a little boy. “Bringing this bitch here to the skycells for killing Jasline, one of the cleaners here.” Just as everyone else today, he threw Jeyne a surprised glare and then returned his gaze to Willem. “Is there anything I can do, Willem?” Willem looked at Tom, who still stood there, and then sighed. “... Actually, there is.. Could you maybe bring Jeyne here to the skycells, I have some unfinished business with this man here.” To this, the young man smiled. “Of course, sir. I will deliver her to the skycells.” Willem gave him a kind nod, before he started to walk to Tom, as the younger guard now stood behind Jeyne instead. “Start walking.” he said as stern and serious as he could, and Jeyne almost found this cute.

Jeyne wasn’t sure if this boy here was 18 even, but he seemed to be proud to be a guard, just as if that would be anything to be proud of. They have walked for a while, leaving the arguing Tom and Willem behind. Jeyne had started to try to cut the tied rope around her hands, and has gotten about halfway there. “You wouldn’t by any chance let me go, would you?” she said, half because she wanted to amuse herself, and half to see how this guard acts. Jeyne at least wanted to give this guard a choice…

“Sorry. Can’t do that. I just got this job, I wouldn’t want to lose it as quick as it came.” the guard said nervously, which just made this a lot harder for Jeyne. She decided to go with a more pleading voice. “Please. I won't tell a soul. I promise. Let me go, and you’ll never see me again.” The guard shook his head, not even reluctant. He seemed to gain more and more courage by the second. “I would still lose my job, wouldn’t I?” Jeyne decided to try it one last time.

She turned around and looked deeply into the guard’s nervous eyes with a pleading expression. “Please, please let me go… Or.. Or I will have to.. to hurt you.” This time, the guard gave her an uncertain chuckle. “I’m terribly sorry, but I will not let you go. I’m sorry.” Jaesa turned around again and knew that she was very close to the skycells now. And in just this moment, the ropes tied around her hands was finally cut. She kept the rope in her hand, discreetly putting it in one of her front pockets. She looked around, and saw no guard but the nervous one.

Now, she sighed. “I’m sorry. I at least tried.” she said, genuinely sad about all of this. She quickly drew her knife, and started to swing it towards the guard, who didn’t even have time to react before Jeyne cut him deeply, but Jeyne didn’t even notice. What she had done was to just turn towards the guard, started swinging the knife, and closed her eyes. She never wanted to do these things again. Once she opened her eyes, she saw the guard, lying bloody on the floor. She had definitely cut him somewhere she hoped she wouldn’t have.

The guard, had a deep wound in his stomach, dying. He would not be able to be saved, Jeyne deduced. Quickly she sat down next to the guard. “I’m sorry.. I didn’t mean to have you killed. I never wanted to kill again! I tried to leave that life behind! I’m… I’m sorry…” the guard just lay there, his bloody hand lying on his open stomach, and a frightened expression on his face. ”You.. you cut...up like... fucking pig... Please… just kill… now..I don’t want… to slowly bleed… death.”

Jeyne really wanted to put him out of his misery. She really did. But would she have time, could she possibly live with herself afterwards? Could she even kill the boy? Could she possibly live with herself if she doesn’t kill the boy.

Holy damn Jeyne :o Not cool! Not cool at all, that was a serious mistake on her end. Like Agent said, she was innocent before and Richard even seemed to be willing to at least give her a fair investigation and acceptable conditions until then. Now? Well, no matter what happens, she's a murderer now and I doubt Richard will be more merciful or willing to consider her tale after this. And even then, she is far from free. She is at the Eyrie, the highest castle in Westeros, sitting atop a literal mountain. It is hard to enter at all and unlikely to be any easier to leave. On top of that, if the guard is found, which I believe will happen eventually, they will actively search for her and this will make things only worse. Ah, she just fucked up her own situation.

  • Well, the problem is, I believe they are the only way of imprisoning someone at the Eyrie (though technically, he could have also locked her into her own room) and in his defense, Richard was willing to give her one of the least horrible cells. I guess there would have been more benefits to this than just being given the least horrible sky cell. To be fair though, that doesn't mean much, given how they are generally the worst, most horrible cells in all Westeros, but Richard really had few other options besides putting her under arrest in her own room.

They couldn't build actual walls? I don't mean like right then, specially for Jeyne but is it not possible to build a wall and fix the skycells?

  • Aye, that is very much the problem, the cells have intentionally been designed in this way. They are not broken, they work exactly as intended and rebuilding them would be a particularly hard thing to do, on account of the castle being nearly inaccessible. If we go by the book version, it cannot be accessed at all safe for an absolutely tiny and steep path that takes hours to climb. How exactly they built that thing in the first place is still a mystery to me, but given how old it is, I wouldn't be too surprised if there was actual magic involved. As a result, turning the sky cells into less cruel cells is a very hard and costly task and I doubt, given that they are intended to break prisoners into confessing even crimes they have not committed, that any Lord Arryn ever even desired to do this. After all, why should they spend coin and the many lives such a task would undoubtedly cost just to put themselves at a disadvantage?

She will quickly mercykill the guardsman and hopefully have enough time to hide it. As a couple of you have stated, she really fucked up there. We'll see what happens next part though. One thing that I have to say here is that this might be the most important choice in the story so far, how small it even might seem right now. Apart from that, I think that Jeyne will have one more part this chapter.

Next part will be up tonight hopefully, and it will be a Duncan part, and it will by far be the longest fucking part I've written so far. But it is a good write so far. I hope you will enjoy it as well.

    Thank you all yet again!

  • Duncan VI

    At the Hunter’s Imperium

“So… I have to give you 1000 arrows, and then you would leave us in peace?” Duncan asked, and talked slowly so that Alicia would have time to come. “Yes.” the ‘Nightmare’ answered. Duncan was not entirely convinced. “Is that so? For all I know, you could take these arrows and rain them at us directly after I give you them. How could you, in any way, convince me that you won’t do just that?” Duncan said and took a step forward with his sword as his cane. The ‘Nightmare’ also took a step forward. “I suppose I cannot promise you that, friend. You just have to trust me, that wouldn’t be too hard, would it?” he said and smiled, and took yet another step forward, towards Duncan. Now there was maybe a meter between the two men

Duncan turned around and looked at Kail. Behind Kail he saw something else though, it was all rather blurry, but it was definitely people walking towards them. In the front, it looked like a woman with long blonde hair, and Duncan know no other than Alicia that has long blonde hair in the Hunter’s Imperium. Quickly, he turned around to the old man again, who had seen the people by now. “Lord ‘Nightmare’. My answer is no. Go and make your own fucking arrows. If you haven’t changed your mind that is, and decides to attack us today anyhow. I would like you to think about your odds though. There are more of my men, if you don’t have any more men lurking in the woods. My men are all trained soldiers, your men are bandits, scum, raiding towns because you can’t be bothered to do anything yourselves, but killing and looting.” By now, the ‘Nightmare’ chuckled coldly. He stared deep into Duncan’s eyes, while Alicia had just stopped slightly behind Duncan, with men behind. Duncan noticed that most men where archers.

“I have to admit, Lord Duncan. I didn’t think you would have the balls to decline my offer. But you had the balls to do so, even though it took this pathetic amount of soldiers to say no, and try to intimidate us.” he looked over his shoulder, giving the bandits a signal that clearly meant to move the catapult away from the town. “Sure, we don’t have the men to take this town today, you are completely right. But we are more.. A lot more. I will not kill you today, lord Duncan. I promised you that, and I am a man to honour my promises.” he said, with a bloodthirsty smile. The ‘Nightmare’ glanced first at Kail, who had walked up to his father, then at Alicia, who tried to keep her composure, but clearly was frightened to stand this close to killers, which her father couldn’t blame her for.

Lastly, he looked at Duncan, with the biggest grin Duncan had seen from this man yet. Duncan had unsheathed a knife he has with him. “My whole promise, of course. Soon, you will see your 2 sons without heads.” he started. Anger started to flare up in Duncan, which obviously pleased the old man
.”Your daughter here, my men will rape, all of them, then the trees in this very forest will rape her, until she dies.” he continued, and Duncan could barely contain his anger now. This man knew exactly how to make Duncan angry. “Your silent wife is very boring I’ve heard, so I will lock her up until she starts talking again, then I would leave her to starve. All while you watch it. And your sons bastard.. I will personally rap…” Duncan did something unexpected, something the ‘Nightmare’ didn’t think he would do. Honestly, Duncan didn’t think he himself would do it either. Duncan plunged the knife he had into the ‘Nightmare’s’ throat, which the Nightmare gave him a surprised, scared yet satisfying expression. Alicia let out a surprised and horrified gasp, whereas Kail was silent.“Stup...id” the ‘Nightmare’ wheezed with a smile, the last smile he would ever make.

The ‘Nightmare’ fell to the ground, where he is bleeding out. For a second, Duncan was surprised by his own actions, but quickly regained his composure. “Soldiers, AIM at the bandits!” Duncan shouted, an order the Soldiers followed instantly. The bandits didn’t have time to do anything, so the ones closest to the woods ran into the woods, but the ones closer to the destroyed wall stood very still. “What is the name of the man incharge of everything?” the one bandit closest answered, who was more boy than man, with brown short hair and blue, scared eyes. “W-we d-don’t know, my l-lord. Only one o-of us h-here kn-knew.. H-him.” the boy stuttered and pointed with a shaky hand at the ‘Nightmare’, who had bled out by now.

“Well, listen to me boy. You and your clan will run back home, you will tell someone who knows who your leader is, and you will tell them what happened here. And tell them that they can forget my fucking arrows. And also, tell them to send your leader next time, I would like a talk with him. Now go!” The scared boy nodded, and started to run away, the others following close after.

Duncan relaxed a little, but his head continued to hurt like the seven hells combined. He turned around to his 2 children and gave both of them a hug simultaneously. “I love you both.” Duncan said, and it felt fantastic to hug his children after everything. The sibling however noticed that something was wrong, and Kail was the first to speak. “What is wrong, father?” To this, Duncan sighed. “ I have important news. Gather the council and the family, apart from Dustin, he will serve his punishment.” Alicia and Kail gave Duncan a questioning look.

“What has Dustin done?” Alicia asked curiously. “I’ll bring it up on the meeting. Don’t go to his room though, it’s locked, and it will stay that way, understood?” he answered sternly, to which Alicia answered. “Yes, but you shouldn’t do this right now.” she said, and before she could continue, Kail more or less finished her sentence. “You have a big wound on your head. Maester Doren have to take a look at you, father.” Duncan sighed and shook his head. “That has to wait, this is of high importance. Could you go and gather them, Kail? Bring Nathaniel if you’d like. It doesn’t matter.” Duncan spoke, as he started to stagger towards his halls. “Fine.” Kail said, and walked a lot faster than Duncan and Alicia did, almost running to get everyone together as quick as possible.

“Alicia. Thank you. If you wouldn’t have come there… We would have had no defense during their next attack. They would’ve gotten all arrows we had more or less.” he said, and patted his daughter gently on her back. She smiled at him, but then got a sadder look. “I wasn’t quick enough. It could’ve all gone smoother, but I.. I..” Duncan pulled her into another hug. “It is fine, Alicia. You just turned 19, I wouldn’t expect you to be able to lead two dozen men all alone. You did good.” To this, Alicia gave her father a hopeful smile. “Thank you, father.” Duncan gave his daughter a warm smile. Duncan noticed for himself how rarely he smiles nowadays, before they continued to the hall in silence.

Alicia opened the doors to their so-called hall, which is no more than a reasonably big dinner-room, really. There was not yet anyone there, but the servants had lighten all the torches already. The room was almost half a circle, except for one side that is straight, where the Lord’s chair is. The room itself wasn’t anything particular though. There wasn’t much more than the longtable that almost reached half the room. There was 6 chairs on each side of the table, and one chair each on the short sides. All the chairs looked the same, brown, worn out chairs, except for the lord’s seat. The seat was worn out, yes, but it was higher than the other chairs, and the backrest of the chair had a very detailed boar carved in the wood, since it is the sigil of House Rayner. Alicia sat down to the left side of the table, to the second closest chair to the Lord’s seat.

He stood near his chair when someone walked through the door. It was a woman in her late 30’s. She wears a green dress with fine details. She has green, loving eyes and long red hair. She is pale, yet beautiful. The woman was Duncan’s wife, Velaena Rayner. A wife who has never said a word to him, not even when they got married. He respects it now, after all these years, but in the beginning he could barely look at her.
When she saw Duncan she gave him a horrified yet happy expression, seeing him made her obviously happy, but the blood in his face was worrying to her. She quickly started to walk towards him.“I know, I know. But this is more important, Velaena.” he said before she reached him, hugged him and gave him a quick kiss before she sat down to the right side of the table, closest to him.

Next person to come was the castellan and Master-at-arms, Gregor Flowers, a man the same age as Duncan, that he grew up with here in the Hunter’s Imperium. He had a big bushy black beard, but no other hair on his head. He wore a green and black tunic with the sigil of House Rayner. He has one blue and one brown eye. He was also wounded in the leg recently, which causes him to limp heavily. Just as Velaena, he gave Duncan a happy smile for a second, before it turned to a horrific expression. “What in the hells my lord? Why have you not treated that wound on your head?” he said, and limped quickly, with a couple of groans and sighs to Duncan. “The real question is, where were you, Gregor? I would’ve needed you out there.” Duncan spoke sternly.

“I just drank milk of the poppy to being able to sleep with my bloody leg here. I woke up when something landed on the ground hard, but I just reckoned I was so out of it by the milk that I would firstly be no help to you at all out there on the battlefield, and secondly, I wasn’t even sure if what I heard was a real sound, or just a bad dream that woke me up.” he explained, and Duncan nodded sternly at him, before he sat down next to Velaena. “My lady. My lady.” he said to Velaena respective Alicia.

The last 2 to enter was Kail and the Maester. Kail sat down to the left of the Lord’s seat, next to Alicia, whereas the Maester barely even reacted. He was an older man, around 60 years old. He had no hair on his head. He had 2 tired blue eyes and he wore a brown maester robe, along with the chains that follows. Maester Doren had brought some equipment, obviously to fix Duncan’s wound. Doren started to work as a Maester in the Hunter’s Imperium shortly before Duncan was born, he had brought Duncan into this world, be he was also the only child from his father and mother that Doren brought. His 2 older, deceased brothers as well as his only living Brother, Burtis, whom is working as a sellsword in essos last time Duncan heard, had been brought to this world by the previous Maester, a real swine, his father used to tell him.

Doren put his equipment on the table in front of Velaena. “Pardon me my lady.” she nodded firmly to him and gave him a smile. “Now, my lord. Please sit so I can see what I have to work with here.” Duncan followed his command and sat down to begin this meeting while the Maester fixed the wound. “Family and friends. This day has not been kind to us. We were attacked by bandits, but these bandits are definitely not our usual pack of bandits. No.. These were an immediate threat to this town, and we cannot let it happen again.” Duncan spoke and paused to breath and groan in pain. “Sadly, these aren’t even the gravest news I have for you…” he hesitated to tell them for a second, but quickly changed his mind. “I have been called to King’s Landing. For a trial. I am accused of trying to murder the queen and I am also accused for murdering an innocent handmaiden.” Duncan finished, and he could see everyone’s surprise.

“What?” “You got to be kidding me!” “That isn’t true, is it?” “This is madness! Haven’t the queen seen everything we’ve done for her?” everyone started to chatter, before Duncan hit his fist hard in the table, and everyone went quiet. “I understand that you have many questions. Rest assured, I will make it out of this trial, with the help of Anders.” Alicia’s face lit up. “Ah, that makes sense. Since he is the man to betray us by giving them arrows, he can confirm that it was indeed bandits, and not Duncan himself. I’m almost impressed father.” her mother gave her a sly and proud smirk to her daughter, before Duncan continued.

“Exactly. One way or the other, he will cooperate. I have done nothing but helping him since he was born, if he won’t help me now…” the Maester interrupted Duncan. “No need for idle threats, Lord Duncan. I understand that you’ve gone through a lot today, but don’t become what they want you to. I’m sure the boy will help, he’s always been a good lad.” Duncan knew deep inside that the Maester was right, and stopped with the stupid threats he did. “I wish you all luck, my lord. And while you are in King’s Landing make sure to find Garen, the steward. He has been gone for longer than he should. My guess is the whorehouse kept him for a few extra days.” the Castellan said, disgusted, and Duncan nodded.

“But there is still quite a problem, father. The wall, somehow, we need to rebuild it. Judging by what that old shit said, we won’t have a lot of time. However, if we put every builder we have on it, we will be able to make a wooden wall in that area. It won’t be as safe as a stone wall, and no one can get in or out except for the little entrance in the back of the city. But on the other hand, it’s very unlikely that we will manage to finish the stone wall, since that is a lot of more work. Decision is yours though, father.” Kail explained, and Duncan quickly made his decision.

[Build up a temporary wooden wall] [Try to build up the original wall]

  • [Build up a temporary wooden wall] It's not ideal but it'd be better than an unfinished stone wall. They really don't want to be caught without a wall.

Just been introduced to almost the entire family! The exceptions being Burtis and Nathaniel. It's so pleasing to read about them! The Nightmare really grinded my gears when he was threatening the family so it's not surprising to me that Duncan killed him. Really great part!

I have to question the wisdom in keeping Dustin locked up, though. It seems to me that they really need him now, especially with a battle on the way.

I guess they don't really have much of a choice. The stone wall would most likely not be finished in time. They would need to defend this wooden wall pretty good tho.

Really, temporary defenses right now are better than having none at all for a longer time. We don't know how much time they have left, but I am pretty sure it won't be enough to rebuild the original wall. That shit can take months or longer if you want to do it well. A wooden wall does not offer as much protection, but it's better than nothing.

Also, oh man, the beginning really caught me off guard :o Well played, Ser, well played!

You people wants a good ol' wooden wall, and I cannot blame you. Since it would be a little unlikely to be able to build up the stone wall in such a short amount of time.

Anyways, Next part'll be out tomorrow hopefully, It'll be a Harlund part. We left him off by promising Arya not to talk to anyone about this mysterious face that she clearly is uncertain on who to tell about this.

Also, I got a new job actually, that involves a lot of travelling right now. So I am going on a business trip on Sunday, and will be gone for 2 weeks. Now, my condition and all, I probably shouldn't start with these kinds of things immediately, but there is no use to just be sitting about. I'll try me best to write during the trip. Obviously, I'm not gonna work 100% of the time, but there'll be a lot of work involved.

    Thank y'all for readin'.
