I wish. Been wanting to get a YouTube account for the past several years and still haven't gotten around to it. Plus, don't really know what content I'd upload besides what you just suggested and weird/funny incidents from D2 and SWBF II.

If you're interested in seeing what it sounds like on guitar, other people have already uploaded vids of them playing it. That's where I got the inspiration (and from watching TLOU on YouTube, haha).

that's fantastic. When you do how about you make video of it and upload to a youtube account you can link here everyone would love to see it

9-12 hours easy mode 14-18 hours harder mode. I can play grounded/survival (hardest setting) in one sitting. Did it while platinum it. Speed run about 2 hours

    Interesting, I'm playing normal mode.

mmm, yes, I wish I was you so I could replay this gift for the first time again. When you're done feel free to ask any questions and we'll answer

I'm enjoying every single moment, currently I'm in the part where Joel and Ellie are in a car and Ellie is reading Bill's magazines, or should I say porn magazines lmao this scene is so funny.
Also, I agree with Ellie, I hate cliffhangers and I hope that when I complete the game, it doesn't end with a cliffhanger.

I'm still very sad about Tess's death, I don't know if she and Joel were more than friends (the story never explained what they were, or maybe I missed something) anyway I miss her. I was really suspicious that she was infected after the scene where she was protecting Ellie. I guess they bite her in the museum.

There are a few things I'm confused about, like, what exactly are the fireflies and why are they in a "war" with the military?

Oh cool! I've been really slack at learning the guitar. I do bits of this and that but I can't really play a real, full song... It's actually quite pathetic how much I've learned in the time I've had it.
I can do a bit of TLOU theme but I forgot how the rest of the song plays and I just haven't looked it up agan.
It's actually a really simple song and it's amazing how simple and at times seemingly non-existent the soundtrack is for this game yet it can be so powerful.
But that's really cool you play the guitar! Do you teach yourself or have lessons?

I'm going to learn TLOU theme song on guitar soon!^^^

It is hinted that Joel and Tess have feelings for each other but as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed.
And if you asked Neil Druckmann (the writer of TLOU) he'd probably just say "What's your interpretation of it?"
...Sometimes I wonder if he's an incredible genius, or just lazy. :P

At the beginning of the game, I was quite confused about the Fireflies too, but later on, I understood more about them. It'd probably be best for you learn about them through Joel and Ellie's journey too then have some stranger on a forum explain it all to you. :)

  • I don't find squealing enjoyable.

I'm not surprised that ND is about to make the squeals (or prequels) even more enjoyable than the masterpiece of the original. I often play LB way more than TLOU.

Well, now Ellie is mad and decided to run away in a horse, Joel and Tommy are looking for her, I love to control the horse (Currently playing this part) . Finally Joel decided to give Ellie a gun, I know he wants to protect her and the trauma of losing Sarah is horrible, but sometimes I think he acts too harsh on her. Anyway, he acts better now and you can realize how close they are compared to the beginning, when he used to call her "kid" instead of Ellie, and when he said "I don't give two shits about you". The scene where Henry abandoned Joel and ran away with Sam pissed me off, but then Ellie stayed with Joel even knowing they both could've died there, I was so happy, that was so beautiful.
When Sam showed the bite on his leg and then the other day attacked Ellie, wow I wasn't expecting that, ok... maybe a little because when both Sam and Henry where being attacked, I helped Henry first (not because preference, it was a desperate moment I acted as fast as I could), after that, Sam was acting really weird.
Then Henry killed himself and I was shocked, I felt so bad for him. I'm also sad because Sam is the only kid we found until now, it was fun to see him and Ellie interacting, they could have been great friends, even a couple (just kidding lmao)
EDIT: I have a question, can you get an alternative story if you shoot the runner that was attacking Sam first?

  • Unfortunately, Sam always gets bit regardless of which runner you shoot first and when (you can even shoot Sam's runner just as it comes out behind the house if you're quick). Unfortunate, but understandable given the game we're dealing with.

Where you are now contains one of my favourite scenes from the game (top 3 at least). You're also approaching my favourite section of the entire game. Not this section you're on, not the next, but the one after that. (being as vague as possible and not naming locations in case you aren't fond of spoilers of that nature.)

Now I'm curious! I stopped at the moment Joel and Tommy found a house and Ellie's horse, I'm going to sleep and I'll continue tomorrow.

  • Why, of all places, would you stop right there?

Because unfortunately my brother came right at that moment and told me he wanted to play his games, so I had to stop, I play in the morning while he's sleeping and sometimes in the afternoon, the PS4 is not mine so he has more rights to play than me.

Yup! That's one of the sections that I like!

You guys were talking about the scene where Ellie and Joel are having a discussion?
The saddest part was when Joel said "You're certainly not my daughter and I'm not your father"; when Ellie started talking about Sarah and when she said she lost people she loved too but Joel said she had no idea what loss is. I can't describe that scene enough, the saddest so far.
(I'm currently in front of the lab, I haven't yet entered)

Yes, that's the scene we're talking about! (or at least what I was talking about)

And you made it to the lab? The big shiny building?
Oooh, your game is about to get real good, real soon.

Well, that depends on how you look at it...

Either way, you're almost at W-----, my favourite part of the entire game.

  • By guys, we're gonna get to see TLOU 2 in June! They said the game would be at E3 2018!

  • Should there be a thread for general TLOU discussion since this is technically the Part II thread?

  • The last(heh) Last Of Us thread which didn't discuss a sequel was three years ago. Considering that there's no new news about that game, there isn't a whole lot to talk about. People will compare the games anyway once it's released. I think we should probably keep the TLOU discussion here.

  • Agreed

  • Outside the University (of Eastern Colorado) is one of my favorite moments because it's just so chill and calm with Joel and Ellie just chatting while riding Callous through the background of warm colors with the sunset and autumn leaves.
That name that Ellie comes up with is so funny and quirky and I love how Joel hates it. XD

It reminded me of my little sister who comes up with awesome, quirky, unique names... :)

    ...I hope she's okay.

  • I THOUGHT JOEL WAS GOING TO DIE HOLY SHIT THAT SCENE SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME WHAT HAPPENED HAKSBSOSNISBSUEKEBSINSOADBS
Okay I'm calm now but when Joel fell and that sharp thing crossed his body I couldn't believe it, I was shocked. Anyway I'm glad he is not dead.
(I'm currently at the part where Joel wakes up and is trying to find Ellie)
Then, the scene where Ellie is hunting for animals appears and I coudn't be more confused.
I'm such a mess playing as Ellie lmao I was trying to kill the runners by beating them, but of course, there is a lot of strength difference between Joel and Ellie and she couldn't kill them like that(she can but not as fast and if there are more than one, you'll die) besides, she had almost no weapons and ammo.
About David, he's a psycho and I kinda trusted him at the start. I don't have idea of what he is going to do with Ellie and why he wants her alive, maybe because he knows she is immune.
I looked inside Ellie's backpack to see what she had, books, Sam's toy, Joel's picture of him and Sarah (how did she get this photo? I think Tommy or Maria gave it to her), now the things that caught my eye the most:
the letter from Ellie's mother, what happened to her? What about her father? Does Ellie remember her face? I've had so many questions since I read the letter. I bet she would be such a good mom to Ellie.
and now the necklace of a firefly called "Riley Abel" which I have no idea who it is. When I looked at the
necklace Ellie said "I miss you" so I'm gonna guess Riley is her friend? And something happened to her or she had to leave idk maybe she was killed by a soldier for being a firefly. Ellie said to Joel she lost people she loved too, I guess Riley was one of them.

Everything got so intense, what I want now is for Joel to kill David. The problem is he's still injured.

  • Do you have the DLC for Ellie's story? If you play it you will understand who Riley is and it is just as good as the main story.

Yeah I have it, but I haven't played it, I need to finish TLOU first. Interesting, I want to know who Riley is, thanks for the information.

  • Oh yeah you made it to Winter!

My absolute favourite part of the game right there. The switch from Joel to Ellie and having to use less aggressive tactics is an interesting change of pace and gameplay. I just love playing as Ellie.
Now, I don't know about you, but I quite enjoyed this section. I believe it only gets better from there (at least during the Winter section). You can report back when you've experienced the rest.
But dude, I hope you like what comes next.

You're absolutely right about that. Personally, I prefer the DLC more than the main game.

I was terrible at playing as Ellie at first too, until I learned something very important: Her switchblade is extremely durable. No more "Darn! That was my last shiv!!" nonsense.

    ELLIE'S SWITCHBLADE FTW!

@MegaXD winter really makes you change up the approach, after building Joel up and playing as him for so long I didn't realize how comfortable I'd gotten when I had to deal with enemies lol. Playing with Ellie really brings you back down to earth. David, man. He was one of those "this guy seems pretty nice and genuine, why am I so creeped out?" characters the first time I met him.

The switchblade was Anna's (her mother's) and she receives it from Marlene.
I did not notice that the first time through, so thanks for getting me to check.

THE WAY ELLIE KILLED DAVID. DUDE. HOLY SHIT. He deserved that. But wow she didn't stopped until Joel came, no wonder she was acting quiet and weird, I would be traumatized if I had to kill someone like that.
Currently at the part where Ellie gives to Joel the photo of him and Sarah
Playing as Joel is so easy compared to Ellie, the part where she had to run away from the hunters was terrible, I died 3 times lol. Anyway I really enjoyed playing as Ellie.
I have a question: Is David a cannibal? I think so, but I just want to confirm it.

When Ellie and Joel are with the giraffes it's definitely one of my favorrites parts. I hope the fireflies are in the hospital and find the cure or whatever, I don't want everything they've been gone through for nothing.
I guess I'm almost at the end right? I'm almost at the hospital.

  • Yes, David is a cannibal. And I died a lot at that point too, don't feel bad.

  • Yes, David is a cannibal. I think you're also lead to believe that the whole colony of people there are cannibals, too... so... that's 3 dead Ellies for dinner. (The Hunters were the guys in Pittsburgh, where Henry and Sam were) I don't know, I could be wrong and the Hunters are in fact a large force in the U.S. that rivals the Fireflies, but that's just how I see it.

Yes, you're almost at the end. Be sure to come back and tell us how you feel about it. There are a lot of opinions on the matter.
(Have you reached the tunnel yet? That's a real test of bravery. I wish you luck in that.)

"3 dead Ellies for dinner" lmao.
So are you saying that David and his people are not hunters?
Of course I'll come back to tell my opinion about the end (I seriously don't want it to end)
And no, I didn't reached the tunnel, from what you said, I can already see that's where I'm going to be fucked.

  • My theory is that David brings home all this food to his group, but doesn't tell them where he gets it from, and behind-the-scenes he has a team of people, including James, that help to "hunt" and "prepare" the food.

I find it odd that they spent SO MUCH resources on tracking down two people just because they killed some of their people (when they attacked first). In the end, if they had left Joel and Ellie alone, they would've lost ALOT LESS people... But they were too hell-bent on revenge.

Y'know what I find disturbing is Nolan North's interpretation of David.
He said something along the lines of how it's tough to be the leader and providing for your group and that "David's not a bad guy", and that anyone could become that guy in those circumstances.
I can't remember what he said exactly, I'll look for the video and post it.
But I wouldn't want to meet Nolan North during an apocalypse...

So... The Last Of Us ends with Ellie saying "Ok" after Joel swears that everything he said about the fireflies is true? What??? Is that all? Then they go where Tommy is, and that's it?
I don't know what to say about this ending, the credits scene appeared and I was like "WHAT?????? IS THAT ALL??? I feel empty now.
Ellie was lying, she wasn't alone when she was bitten, it makes sense, I don't think she would enter the mall, a forbidden place, alone.
So Riley was her best friend, and she was bitten too, and died, and before her death she told Ellie they should wait to turn, together, honestly who would want to wait 'till they turn in a situation like that? And it seems like Ellie agreed to wait, then Riley turned but she didn't.
    ...
Ok, it turns out that Marlene would kill Ellie to make the vaccine and Joel kills her in the end. I'm still confused about her friendship with Anna and pretty much everything about Anna.
The scene where Joel was carrying Ellie, desperate to save her, along with the music, it's definitely my favorite.
It reminded me when he was carrying Sarah in the beginning.
Now they won't even try to find a cure, and there are dozens of people with the same immunity as Ellie.
About the trophies, I played in normal mode, I won the easy and normal mode's trophies and another one that's common, all that time exploring and I haven't find everything, Things were well hidden. I almost found everything.
I just needed to find ONE MORE COMIC, and I would win the trophy.

Anyway I don't care too much about trophies. I loved The Last Of Us, enjoyed EVERY SINGLE MOMENT. I can't describe everything I'm feeling right now.
Yes, I'm late, back in 2013 I didn't have a Ps3 and now is the first time I have a console, and I was looking forward to play The Last Of Us a long time ago. I almost watched a gameplay on YouTube, because I thought I would never have a console to play it, oh my god I'm glad I was lazy enough not to watch the gameplay . It would ruin my whole experience playing the game now.
There is a positive part of playing late, now I don't need to wait a lot for Part 2. I'm so fucking excited.
Thank you to all who accompanied me on this journey and for reading my giant texts lol
Wait, I still have to play and discuss about Left Behind. YES!!!!

  • Yes, you still have Left Behind. I'm not going to give away much, but it does go more in detail about Ellie and Riley.
