You know today has been 5 months since my dad passed. A lot has changed and a lot will change.

I just hope I make him proud one day.

I believe there are two defining moments in a parent's life when they are proud of their offspring. The first being the moment they teach you something and it sticks....and the moment they realise you know some things they don't. Very rarely are parents not proud of their children, whether they show and express it, or not. Generally, if one has concern for what their parents would think, then, yes, I would go as far to say that one's parents would be proud.

To everyone in the US: Happy Memorial Day, everybody! Let's take the time now to honor our veterans.

Done a few crappy doodles of my videogame idea, that I've been sitting on.
I'm not 100% sure of how to get it to work, and whether it will actually work at all.
Gut instincts are leading me to believe that it will work once its done, and fully tweaked and all.

I guess I'm more woried about whether I can get it to work.

I guess I should boot up Game Maker, make some box's and circles, and see what I can do.

I'm sad to hear that. How are you holding up anyway? We're all here to support you. At the very least you can laugh at our antics. :p

...just when people might have a favourable opinion of me, I have to bring this up...

I liked Last Action Hero. It was a brilliant parody. If you take it seriously, yes, you will hate it. It was supposed to be cliché. All the commonly used action scenes are there...they are exaggerated and insane. Its problem was it's subtility...it was only liked by little kids who didn't care and action movie nerds.
Yeah the "wrap-around" was weak, but since it's individual action and comedy scenes were unique(in being parodied at the time), it will have a special place in my heart.

The part when Charles Dance kills that guy in the real world was awesome.

I have to choreograph a dance and perform it in dance class (required for all Sophomores because my school is evil). You know what song I'm doing.

Oh, I'm sure. As well as swarms of others. However, that's how I like to work anyway.... earn my way. Blame the German in me...or maybe it's a masochist thing, who knows. Either way, I'm fine with it.

Probably because parts of German(can't remember if it was north or south....I'm thinking south though) is guttural as is firm english. Plus, they have a similar flow. So spoken backwards, the individual sounds would sound similar...but not be coherent. One set of my grandparents were born in Germany(one north, one south) and I could easily see it as sounding english(from a north american stance) by someone who doesnt speak either.

Most 12 year olds watch South Park Jackass and Family Guy so have no problem with adult material.

That's true, but it seems like alot of the stuff in there wouldn't make it on TV. I couldn't be the judge of that though.

Let's see what shocking things might be seen in Hector:
*Person's Head Exploding (Just a touch of spatter, though.)
    *People in their underwear
*Items such as dirty needles and condoms
    *Drug References
    *Offscreen *Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wow*
A lot of references to pornography and *Bow-Chicka-Wow-Wow*
*A lot of naughty language (but I think the naughtiest it gets is "bastard.")

Take a look at that list and see if it lets you know what you need to know about the game.

All that would make it onto TV easly (as long as it had a mature rating and was on post water shed)

You're probably right. I just don't think I would recommend it to a 12 year old kid. It's been a while since I played it, though. My memory could have exaggerated it.
  • edited May 2011
I probably wouldn't recommend a game where you sell an unconscious heroin addict as a sex toy to a 12 year old. But maybe that's just me.

The fact that it wasn't totally wasn't expected. And it's also catchy. Though in retrospect, that's more of a reason for liking it than finding it funny.
  • edited May 2011
The absurdity of seeing Michael Bolton dressed as Jack Sparrow, Forrest Gump, Erin Brockovich, and Tony Montana was also a funny factor, as well as The Lonely Island's reactions. Not to mention...

Yeah, I also found it unexpected, and mildly humourous... but it just didn't make me laugh. It's not as though I dislike the song, nor do I think it's a poor attempt at comedy; I just didn't understand how people could say that it's "hilarious" or that they "laughed hard" at it.
