The distributor really isn't the problem. International pricing is the problem, and that's Daedalic's decision! 36 Euro for the retail disc is absolutely reasonable!
Asking about 30$ per game of their US customers, that would be a start and make the German customers feel far less shat on.
A bunch of pre-"Night of the Rabbit" content has the German localization, so I imagine that whatever reason Daedalic has for screwing over German customers is probably contractual.
Late in the day, yes, but I had to make sure there weren't any other major updates. Giana Sisters: Rise of the Owlverlord is available for the launch price of $4.49. This is a standalone expansion for Giana Sisters, and does not require the bae game to play.

Is your Leisure Suit Larry collection feeling a little sparse? Are you unable to look at your collection because of the giant gaps in it? Well too bad, Box Office Bust still isn't on GOG. And besides, unlike MCL which had its moments, BOB is terrible on all levels but some of the voice acting. But maybe you can settle for Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded for 40% off, as part of today's indie gem promo. Yeah, that was a long way to go for that joke. As apologies, please enjoy this Montague's Mount pre-order. This first-person adventure game will be out on October 9th, and you can pre-order it for $8.99.
@Vainamoinen - You should have gotten an e-mail about it - I did the other day. Check your spam box and if you still can't find it, give the team a shout.
Really? The only thing they're giving out, as some guy on the gog forums told me, is Steam keys. Nothing for real backers.
They did have my email address back when they announced the thing, they probably haven't lost it in the meantime.
/edit: I checked. I'm probably not eligible for the update because I didn't back 25$ or more. Then again, I have no idea how much I backed. Lost in the void of time and no possibility to check anything. Curse of the PayPal backer.
@Vainamoinen - You should have gotten an e-mail about it - I did the other day. Check your spam box and if you still can't find it, give the team a shout.
I don't think today's release is repulsive. If anything, it's revolting. Well, that's because today's release is Re-Volt, the RC racing game, for only $5.99. Also, enjoy another mostly new indie game. It's Smugglers V, the fifth game in the Smugglers franchise of spaceship RPGs, for only $9.99.
Hey look, it's an Interplay sale, haven't had one of those before! Seriously though, we've got 50% off Interplay titles. And once again I must remind you that the classic Fallout games are set to leave GOG at the end of the year, barring some last minute deal between GOG and Bethesda (hah, good luck with that).
This Week in GOG gives you a recap and new game hint. Sounds like something from Westwood.
Welcome to week 5 of GOG's 5th birthday celebration. Will we see the Grand Finale sometime this week? Will it be the long awaited LucasArts or the more likely (and more disappointing) Take-Two? How about we start with the classic gem promo which is 50% off Raiden Legacy.
Day two of the last week of celebrations brings us the release of PixelJunk Monsters HD (that's the RTS one) for the launch price of $7.19. Also, you can pre-order Lilly Looking Through, a new point-and-click adventure game from a new developer (new on GOG anyway) for the pre-order price of $8.99.
Knock-knock. (Who's there?) Day 3 of the final week of the celebration. And now that we're fully into October, it's time for some horror games! First up we have Knock-Knock (who's there?)... no, we're not doing this any more. We have Knock-Knock (who's there?)... ugh... we have Knock-Knock (who's there?)... shut up, voice in my head! The game is called Knock-Knock. It's a new horror adventure game from the people who made Pathologic, so you KNOW they know quality in gaming, and it has a launch price of $7.99. We also have Montague's Mount, set in the dark, dreary and spooky lands of... Ireland... for $9.99. And let's not forget the indie gem promo of the week, Extreme Astro Chicken (aka Humans Must Answer) for 60% off.
Edit: Thanks, Obama. Are you tired of the US government shutdown? Even if it doesn't affect you, are you just tired of hearing about it? Well, buy a few city builders at half-off and show those clowns in congress how you're supposed to run a country.
Finally, for reasons entirely unrelated to who may or may not have been involved in shutting down the US Government, we also appear to have Redneck Rampage on sale 50% off.
GOG is hilarious. They're also giving away the promo to anyone who was furloughed.
I saw the Surgeon Simulator demonstrated by the German "Game One" guys and I couldn't stop laughing.
Essentially it's a kind of QWOP in a surgery setting. Your chances to get to the finish line are a bit better than in QWOP, but you'll certainly look just as competent. Not sure if 4.99 is a good price. But it will certainly make for some hilarous minutes.
A little late updating today because of the size of today's update, so let's get on with it. Both The Legend of Kyrandia Book Two: Hand of Fat… moree and The Legend of Kyrandia Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge are available for $5.99 each. Also, if you buy all three of them before October 17th, you can get each game for $3.99. And, after being accidentally released and then pulled, we have the official release of Surgeon Simulator 2013 for the launch price of $4.99. We also have a bonus deal of Divinity: Dragon Commander for 40% off both standard and Imperial editions, and you can win a 3D printed Divinity dragon. Are we done yet? Almost! Until October 17th, every purchase you make comes with a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.
The final day of the final week of GOG's 5th birthday is upon us and... it's an EA sale. Take 60% off the almost the entire EA catalogue, except for the recently released Wing Commander and Legend of Kyrandia games. But, as you recall, Kyrandia gets its own special sale. Also, any purchase you make gets you a free, giftable copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, so spend away!
And here's This Week on GOG for the week. Your new game hint is... some kind of chemistry equation, I don't know.
We've got a whopping 3 releases from GOG today, so let's get on with it. The government may not be working, but don't let that stop you from forming your own government and shutting IT down with Democracy 3. It's $24.99, but who ever said that democracy was cheap? After all, it costs quite a pretty penny to distance yourself from the queen. But if you don't want to spend that money, then swear loyalty to the crown with Long Live the Queen for $9.99. What, still don't wanna fund a fund a one-princess-war against the people who want to steal your throne? Turn to a life of piracy with Corsairs Gold for only $5.99!
"Democracy 3", hah. DEPONIA 3, that's what came out today. However, Amazon fucked up to send me the German retail version in time, so a gog.com release would be much appreciated.

Your indie gem promo of the week is Fez for 50% off. Considering this was just PWYW on the Humble Indie Bundle (and Phil's own PR problems), this might or might not be that appealing.
And this is why waiting until later in the day is sometimes a good idea; I don't have to worry about having to constantly update whenever something else happens. Anyway, today we have a few releases. Dark Matter, a 2.5D platformer/action game comes to us at the launch price of $13.49. Better late than never, we also have Aarklash: Legacy, an old-school style RPG (which is kind of like saying "quirky platformer with physics" nowadays) for the launch price of $16.79. And, because GOG thankfully remembers that they got where they are on the backs of classics, we have Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now for $9.99.
Dust off your pixel-hunter cap, because it's time for a Point-And-Click-A-Thon. Get 60% off some of the less famous point-and-click adventures in GOG's library. Save on Inherit the Earth, The 7th Guest, The Book of Unwritten Tales, Jack Keane, some games that aren't even point-and-click adventures, and more from a list of games not including stuff from Wadjet Eye, Daedalic, Sierra and Telltale.
And now it's time for This Week in GOG. Check out the recap and upcoming game hint, which is... well, take a gander for yourself. Man, they're not making it easy anymore.
Dark Matter, a 2.5D platformer/action game comes to us at the launch price of $13.49.
DON'T BUY DARK MATTER.
It's a game that ends after four or five hours, entirely abruptly with one screen of text. It is not a finished game.
From the developers (in reply to Steam user PinkiePenguin):
No, the full story is indeed not complete yet because originally we wanted a longer game (12-16 hours) but couldnt finish it completely due to time and money (and Kickstarter failing). So, we choose to go with a 6-8 hour game instead to bring something out to the world and show everyone the world of Dark Matter. We are going to change the "to be continued" text to something else, to make sure this will be the end of the game as is in a clear msg to everyone...
Shortly afterwards, they change their opinion to 'it's a finished game', which it clearly isn't. According to NeoGAF commenters, the tutorial even explains mechanics which are never used in the game. The last minute of the game presents you with a dead end, and in fact opening a nearby door unsuspectingly presents you with the ending screen.
This gives you the full idea (last three minutes of a 'let's play'):
Again, sometimes Kickstarters fail for a reason. Selling the game for more than ten bucks as if it were finished when in fact they've hardly delivered a third, that is among the lowest blows. The Steam customers expect Valve to react and stop selling the game. Let's see if at least gog.com does. Thankfully, gog.com displays reviews directly on the sales page, so users are immediately warned.
There's no reason to go troll InterWave Studios for this desaster. Kotaku has reported and reddit, where all the actually relevant mobs stem from, has reacted already. The devs will not feel any additional shit flung at them, because they're knee deep in a self inflicted eradication of their studio.
Your classic gem promo of the week is a stacking promo for Desperados. Buy one at 60% off, or both for 70% off. Also, GOG posted this on their Twitter feed, so... coming sometime this week?
From the files of "better late than never" we have The Swapper for the launch price of $7.49. I have NO idea what this is, but it appears to be some kind of puzzle platformer. Also we have Ethan: Meteor Hunter for $9.99, which also appears to be some kind of puzzle platformer. I'm starting to see a trend, here. No word on Rune yet, but I imagine that's coming Thursday.
Edit: Hey, remember Dark Matter? GOG has been a good sport and reworded the language of the gamecard page so that it's much, MUCH more obvious that it's only part one of an episodic series. But they understand that you probably don't like that solution, so if you bought this game and you want your money back, contact GOG and they'll give you a refund. Only people who purchased the game before they changed the wording get a refund, though, which shouldn't be much of a problem considering the one-star bombing this game has gotten.
"The Swapper" is a thoroughly enjoyable 2D puzzle platformer that toys with the idea of having up to four clones mimick the player's every move. Great atmosphere, I recommend it!
As to gog.com's reaction to the Dark Matter desaster, it is a bold stance to take. All customers have downloaded and installed the game. If they full refund the game now, it is by no means guaranteed that the refunded people immediately deinstall the half-a-game. This looks like a huge kick in InterWave's butt, to put it mildly.
It looks like gog.com even took the game offline right now. Wow.

I can't help but think the poor reaction to the game on GOG.com where the reviews are right on the main game page had a lot to do with it though.
I think so too. All that stuff right at the presentation page with the 'buy' button spoke a clear language. Something the Steam customers could not address in the same fashion. Consequently, Valve doesn't refund or recompense - at the moment. I guess they will take up that service quickly. The risk of denting their 'customer friendly' reputation is just too high.

That's apparently at the reques… moret of the developer, as they told them to remove it since they are working on a patch to give it a proper ending.

In certain circumstances, usually in terms of fraud, they do offer refunds. Like when From Dust launched with UPlay, when the game page clearly said "UPlay DRM free", or that whole War Z thing, I think they gave out refunds for that.

Gamasutra unearthes more dirt on InterWave's Dark Matter:
[W]hat the team has failed to disclose is that it isn't working on the title anymore. After the Kickstarter failed earlier this year, most of the Interwave team was let go between July and August, and the vast majority of the original Dark Matter developers are not working on the title any more, according to Gamasutra sources.
A source close to the studio told Gamasutra that Interwave is now a "sleeping company," with only a bare minimum of management at the studio, and insufficient developers to finish the title under current staffing levels. However, it's unclear whether third-parties would be able to finish the game separately of the original team.
>
UPDATE: Another source close to the studio has told Gamasutra that an external company is now handling the game's ending, and that none of the original developers are still working on the game.
The entire Interwave team, minus two management staffers, were let go during July and August. When the Kickstarter failed, the original idea was to package it up as Dark Matter: Episode 1 and use sales of the game to re-hire the original team and carry onwards -- however, this plan fell through.
Essentially, what's happening now is that third party programmers who haven't ever seen the code before are supposed to deliver a 'satisfying ending' to a game that has about a third of the originally planned content, and that in less than a week with practically no budget at all. Well, good luck with that, that's all I'll say.
(Meanwhile, as I predicted, Valve has caved and is now offering refunds. They're not actually advertising it though).
You all saw this one coming a mile away. The classic third-person action game Rune is now available on GOG. Rune Classic comes with the Halls of Valhalla expansion pack, as well as the previous Rune Gold edition, and has a launch week price of $4.99. What better way to celebrate Thor on his day than to buy this game. Also, we have Triple Town for the launch price of $5.99. Someone, please explain this to me because I have NO IDEA what this is supposed to be.

Get a bunch of stuff by Rebellion for 60% off this weekend. Be an Evil Genius, a Lord of Magic, a Sniper Elite or even Judge Dredd for a low, low price.
Here's This Week on GOG for a recap and next game hint. No clue what it's supposed to be for, they're getting better at making enigmatic clues.
Alright folks, your classic gem promo of the week is 60% off Darkstone. Also we have the cat-themed, indie arcade schmup Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender for the price of $5.99. And with that, I'm retiring from doing this. Anyone feel like picking up the slack? Anyone? Bueller?
Thanks for all the effort you've put into doing these over the last year or so. It's appreciated, or at least used to be while there were still people around to read your updates. You have to know what you're looking for to find this thread these days.

In certain circumstances, usually in terms of fraud, they do offer refunds. Like when From Dust launched with UPlay, when the game page clearly said "UPlay DRM free", or that whole War Z thing, I think they gave out refunds for that.
Your indie gem promo of the week is Spelunky.

Triple Town is basically a puzzle game masking itself as a town builder.
THAT's the kind of sneaky I can get behind.
