Coincidentally, 8th of December was also the day John Lennon was shot and killed 29 years ago. It's sad to look forward to such a day... :(

Ehh. I'm never excited about delays like some gamers are. I can't really bring myself to care this time because I have finals and other college/work responsibilities popping up in the coming weeks, but missing an intended schedule(in this case, both definitions of "monthly", if only just barely) just means they missed the schedule, not that the coming game is going to be some error-free masterwork of genius, Telltale's Magnum Opus.

It will also be 68 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese time.

    Bad times.

And 145 years since the opening of the Clifton Suspension Bridge over the River Avon.

    Good times.

    ;)

Lets not even talk about how November is a long month... :p

Cool! I'm also excited, because they called it a season finale, and not a series finale.

    That could mean......season 2??

It means nothing. People, geez, over analyzing everything. I know a lot of modern gamers are used to viral marketing and statements that have received approval from five different legal and marketing teams, but Telltale is just Telltale. This is seriously just them making it, calling it a "Season", and saying that season will be over. Even if they WERE thinking about making another season, they aren't in pre-production yet and LucasArts could do anything. And even if they were, they were in pre-production for Sam and Max Season Three and dropped that to make Monkey Island.

I know everybody here loves the idea of vague announcements spelled out in a picture of some Telltale team member's breakfast, in the technicalities in the minute details of the wording used by their store, or in a picture of a bug saying hello.

    But seriously.

    That's ridiculous.

And all the evidence I need to celebrate with a lot of grog tonight!!!!

I'm glad they've given themselves a bit of extra time to finish the final chapter.

As for the "monthly" comments (and even the "taking their time" comments), it's worth noting that the gap between Episodes 2 and 3 was actually longer than this one. They're all just a little over a month apart.

Unfortunately, that's a day after I go on vacation. Fortunately, I'm going to the Caribbean, so I'll be right in the mood when I come back and get to play it.

    In France too.
Funny thing is I live in Lyon, a french city which also celebrates december 8th and used to go to a school called "Immaculate Conception".
On top of that, it's also my birthday.
So it was the day of my city, my school and mine.
And now, it's Monkey Island day too...

To be fair to the "season finale" debate...

I believe it was Grossman who said they hoped to do 4 games in 2010. That almost seems unfeasable, but Telltale did manage to turn out 3 this year (Wallce n' Gromit, CSI, and Monkey Island) so who knows? I guess there's no point speculating until a press release is made, but still... it's fun to consider the possibilities, isn't it? :)

I'm actually not waiting that much for this ep, loads of other nice games to play but I can't help saying "meh, how utterly lame!" anyway.

    Great, looking forward to it.

I thort it was the Bone Yard from MI2 as well, as soon as I seen it the first time.

wow! i havent been this excited since say.. wen i got the monkey island soundtrack!..
but still it looks interesting, even if they did just ruin the surprise of 4th chapter for anyone who hadn't played it yet. im just worried theyre gonna mess this entire thing up, like by saying season instead of series which leaves hope and expectations which could be mislead.
enough complaining though, even if its as boring as the first half of chapter four the story should be more than enough to make this a worthwhile buy! hoorah for monkey island, and cant wait to play as guybrush's hand!

I loved the cemetary scenes in MI2 and CMI, especially the music. I hope Mr. Land doesn't disappoint for this one.

anyone else think that the "spotlight on the headstone" concept art is an allusion to michael jackson's tribute (spotlight on the microphone on an empty stage)?

I hope not. I'm glad they didn't make a Sponge Bob allusion with La Esponja Grande, too.

Wow, a lot of negativity about the date.
My birthday is on the 9th, so it's fine with me.

I genuinely haven't been this excited about a game for over a decade.

Oh god I just realised the last time I was this excited about a game, it was Black and White 2, and that was awful.

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this and it's probably a dumb question but if you buy the whole season on Steam will you also be eligible to get the special DVD in the future or is it only a Telltale site thing?

I was going to get the whole season for my friend's christmas gift when episode 5 came out via Steam, since it's easier for her that way but I'd really like her to have the DVD too so I don't know if I should.

No problem, it wasn't really that big of a deal, it's only because she likes to have a large library of games on Steam but I'm sure the DVD prevails over that in importance so I'll order it through here come gift time.

BTW, in America a "season" is the equivalent of a "series" in the UK. The two terms are fairly interchangable :)

Whattt? I was under the impression you could get it even if you brought through steam... this makes me slightly sadder
