Maybe you're no great shakes with words, but you want a chance at Fame! Glory! Fortune!

All you artists are in for a treat. We know there are wildly creative people among our fans, and this is the time that you can show off every brushstroke, sketch and splatter: a weekly art contest. From this Thursday 'til next, you have an assignment:

Make a Telltale-themed valentine card!

You can draw it, photoshop it, whatever strikes your fancy! Make it good, so we can send them to our friends (or around the office here, o0o0o0oh.)

This contest will be evolving as we get a feel for the timing and think of a cute title, but don't hold back. I wanna see some totally awesome art, I know you guys have it in you.

For those about to Draw, we salute you!

Prizes have yet to be determined due to time restraints and my sanity, but heck. Let's give this a shot.

Here's something I cooked up after a half hour, and going through all the Sam and Max Speech Files to find the best quote:

    Marty: Nope.

    Tope: Yes.

    Can you submit multiple entries?
  • edited February 2010
Does it have to be good art? :P
I might try something but it would have to be vectors, so not awe inducing...
But what the heck, I've never dared take part in a context like that before so I'll give it a try. Just because I probably won't win doesn't mean I can't have fun :)

EDIT: since this was my first post in this thread, I've decided to add my contributions here, so people can see them all at once.
Don't be surprised to see me submit them for the first time in later posts :P

Damn straight! Aphrodite would be much better.

Where do we send our entries?

Also, great job on "For those about to draw, we salute you"! AC/DC ROCKS!

Also, good luck brushers and my fellow pixel-pushers!

Suro has long hair, but not that long. Besides, when I think Valentine's Day, I think Romeo and Juliet, so I'm expecting plenty of corpses! I mean, doublets!

You know what would be a cool prize? A credit in a game:

    Valentine's Day Valentines Provided by

    Maxilyah
    Avistew
    Irishmile
    GinnyN
    and
    TesterNick

What the ... ? No fair! Telltale employees can't enter the contest!

    I don't disagree with that :)

I made one! And now I read multiple entries are allowed so I might make more.

This first one is the type that you open. Not sure where to send it so I'm posting it here:

    telltalecardoutside.png

    telltalecardinside.png

I left room on the inside-left page to write a personalized message, not sure if I was supposed to or not.

    I love you, Telltale!

And here I was thinking this would be our extremly disturbingly creepy Nikisaur appreciation thread... :p

(And darn it, now I hate it I suck at art...)

I was already working on a Monkey Island-themed Valentine's Day picture for the fanart thread for a while now, but would it count to enter it here?

As someone totally unqualified to answer that question, I say: "Sure!"

Oh ... Avistew that's like a real Valentine's Day card. It was funny and sweet and geeky. My ideas suddenly don't seem so good ... Also, you fast o.O
  • edited February 2010
Maybe I should send a picture of me dressed in spartan armor...oh how my mind works.

Well, I cheated by not having backgrounds (that takes the longest) and using older art as a base. And of course my own self, that I already had.
Then it was more about positioning everyone and adding clothes to the naked ones.
Once I was done the first picture, I just had to copy-paste it and change the positions again.

It's definitely a lot faster than drawing everything each time. That's one thing I really like with vectors.

And thanks! I'm glad you liked it. And I'm sure your ideas are good too (and even if they don't I want to see them either way!)

I'm supposed to be doing a Flash animation, dammit!

(Before I keep yelling stuff at random, can I participate?)
  • edited February 2010
No you can't; nikasaur specifically said, "But Ginny can't make an entry, she's supposed to go to bed!" So don't even think about making a flash valentine! Because that would be ridiculous and totally not cool and not something everyone would want to see.
  • edited February 2010
Ironically as probably will sound, I was serious. But hey, whathever, I have an idea already.

But I was about to finish the animation, T_T.
  • edited February 2010
    Ginny still isn't in bed?
  • edited February 2010
Nope; Ginny is the "New York" of South American teenagers.

I created 3 versions of the artwork:

First one is a simple front only artwork:

Second is the folding card with TT logo on it:

Jeez people, make my stuff look bad why don't ya! :p Anyway, here's an entry from me:

    She looks great!
The irony of her seeming to hit on anyone who looks at the card is... er... ironic?
I really should think of ends for my sentences before I start them.
  • edited February 2010
If you think of endings to your sentences before you start to make them, you risk forgetting what the beginning was.

And I originally just wanted her to look quizzical, but I think I like the final, slightly ambiguous and challenging result better. :D

Here is my entry. I've taken Telltale heart's logo and original logo and some characters and mixed them up to make this Valentine's Day folding card!

Didn't you post that entry already? You're allowed more than one, don't worry :)

Well, now that the rest of us know we have no chance, we'll just go home, now!

I kind of want actual cards like this to hand out. :D

I can see it, so that's kind of strange ... and would you and avistew mind if people printed your cards out and actually used them as valentine's day cards? They look big enough to print well.
