I'm going to take a guess and say that it's probably because they don't want to reveal *everything*.

    Only a guess, nothing more.

It was announced to be on XBLA since the initial press release.

Well this is the first place I've seen any official news, so I shared my excitement here... wtf? Is that a problem? Obviously I didn't read the initial press release....

If they relesed a trailer I could watch it over n over till its out like. Like I did last year with the 1st SE.

Dunno if this is old news or whatever, but I haven't seen it before.
Just saw on Monkey Island's Facebook page that the ERSB has given Monkey Island 2: SE an E10+ Rating. I'm not farmiliar with how game releases work, but aren't games rated when releases are not very long away at all...

its coming out this summer... summer starts in about a month... so I would guess it will be out 1-3 months from now.

No, that's right. I think they said last week that they were through posting screenshots for now.

Yes, they said it was the last week of screenshots, but that this week they are doing characters. I don't really see the point in that, seeing as we've seen almost all of the character, oh well, we'll see.

Ok, no more screenshots, how about VIDEO?

    Indeed.

The more I think about it, the more I'd like the game to be released on June 1st! No, not just because it's the first day of summer and the soonest we could possibly play it, but because it would be a year then since the announcement of MI's return, and it would be a year of Monkey Island goodness coming full circle! Anyone agree?

Just saw on the mixnmojo forums that the first MI:SE is the deal of the week on Xbox in the 17th of May week, so that could be a possible clue to Monkey Island 2 coming soon!...
  • edited May 2010
Maybe something to keep an eye on it looks like MI SE will be XBox Deal of the Week on May 17th, I could see this as a possible lead up to the release announcement for MI 2 SE.

E3 is June 15-17th I am guessing we will get a release date then and plenty of videos and screens to look at.

His face looks incredibly weird. That's probably why it's called 'V1' though.

Just seen that LucasArts are planning to show off Monkey Island 2 at E3 next month, along with a few of their Star Wars titles (groan).
Looks like they're not planning to release the game in June then, or at least the start of it. In fact, I wonder if Darrell leaving Lucas means that the game will be delayed at all... Seriously hope not.

EDIT: Monkey Island Adventures just said on FaceBook that they'll be posting character concepts over the next few weeks, and somewhere else said that the change of president will not affect their current projects. So it looks like the project is still full speed ahead. What character designs are we hoping they'll post on Monday? I hope for maybe Guybush Theepwood, Elaine Maley, or Lago LaGande! :D

New Q/A with Craig Derrick. In this, he reveals that Neil Ross did indeed return for the voice of Wally :D . As well as Leilani Jones Wilmore as the Voodoo Lady, as opposed to the one in Tales.

Nice to see that LucasArts goes out of its way to retrieve voice actors from 13 years ago.

And good for the Voodoo Lady. I don't really like the one from Tales. Her voice kind of seems fake and exaggerated. The one from Curse had a much more "believable," for lack of a better word, voice.

CD: The very first feature we discussed was the idea of a direct control interface to replace the point-and-click movement. This idea meant that instead of the player moving a cursor to wherever on the screen they want to walk to and then pressing a button to activate the walk movement they can now just move the left thumbstick in any direction and Guybrush will move in that direction. It removes an unnecessary step and immediately feels more responsive and familiar to modern gamers.

    WHAT?????

This sounds like EMI. -.- I want my point and click movement. ToMI has WASD & ClicknDrag, but that wasn't a remake of an old game and MI2 isn't in 3D. They should be faithful to the classic game and keep the same control scheme.

    Agreed.

They did. The direct control is optional, he's mentioned it in a couple of interviews. You can still point and click to move around. Direct control does make a lot more sense for the console versions so I'm glad it's there as an option.

You don't like it? I do!

In fact, that looks far more Guybrush-MI2-y than their actual present in-game-model. They got the stance right in that picture, he does not look as proud and upright, and they did not make him too thin. He'd be OK that way!

I don't like it, I don't hate it. I think he just looks a little fat in this piece of concept art, I prefer the final model. I also like the final model because Guybrush looks a lot younger than he did in the original game, which fits better with the rest of the series (as Guybrush looks quite young in Curse and Escape).
  • edited May 2010
He just looks to me like he's wearing super baggy clothes. His arms and boots are all skinny so I definitely don't think he looks fat.
  • edited May 2010
Yeah, you're actually right there. In that case, it's the baggy clothing that I'm not liking, I knew something didn't look right; his clothes are a touch tighter in the original. I also find his face to be too round in the concept art. But that's just what I think.
  • edited May 2010
In that side view of his head he looks too much like a monkey, otherwise this is much better than the SoMI Guybrush....I think a touch more of this in the LCR Guybrush would have been nice, I think the LCR Guybrush's head is just a bit too squished.

Lol, some of you guys jump to conclusions way too quickly.
