I'd like to see V5 do some of those comical facial expressions, which were very funny in the original (like in the spitting contest). That's something the two faces of V1 really reminds me of. I think V5 is the best though. Guybrush enough for me.

Why? Because his skull isn't a 2 foot tall tube?

That's really funny. I don't have a problem with the CMI Guybrush, but to make all future Guybrush's have that long face (when the first two games did not have him look that way at all) is a little one-sided. In SMI, he had an almost round face. Guybrush doesn't need to look that goofy. I actually really liked the TOMI Guybrush, I was completely satisfied with it, and found it much more appealing than the CMI version.

But, since this is concept art for Lechuck's Revenge, in which he did not have a long face, shouldn't they be trying to keep with the way he was drawn during that specific game, as best they can?

Well the model from #1 sucked. This one looks better.

I don't know if it's just me, but her arms look super long in it, don't they? Like they reach down to her knees or something.
    Otherwise it's not bad.

Yeah, the proportions are off. If her arms were straight they would reach below her knees.

Arm length is something people get wrong a lot, but it's easy to remind yourself how long they should be. Just stand up and let your arms hang down. Your hands should be somewhere mid-thigh.

I actually really like that version of Elaine, more than anything else I've seen for the game so far. The nose and lips seem kind of off but otherwise it lines up with MI3 style quite nicely.

I just hope the dark edge of the game comes through and doesn't get cartoon'd out of it.

In Elaine - V1, her nose and lips look a little odd, don't they? Compared to the closeups.

Even in ToMI, they had her with thinner lips, and a straighter nose.

It fits in with Curse's Elaine though.

Yeah, but that was Curse's Elaine, not LR's. *shrugs* Too bad, they didn't have a close up of Elaine in LR (or did they?)

I like this one better then Curse and Secret, she's thinner and she looks cute; and not mean and angry and she doesn't have a scary American accent.

In that Tales concept art, I keep seeing Elaine as a monkey. I think it's the nose. She looks to me like a monkey with a wig and her fur died pink.

Oh, you know I can definitely see the monkey aspects in her face now. Maybe they did that on purpose. :p

I don't think she looks mean in SMI. She only looks mean when she is angry, when she isn't she just looks beautiful.

I think that's just Jones's style, but idk.

I don't think it's on purpose or anything, then again I don't get that from the other drawings. I was just pointing it out, really.

I can't see it the image won't load

I quite like V1 of Elaine. Except the lips are a little too far to the right side of her face (our left).

can someone please reupload the Elain CA

I like the way she looks. Much better than some of the Guybrush concept art.

You too, huh? I think they used the concept of the Monkey and then etched out all the monkey details, and put in her pretty green eyes and long orange hair. No wait, it was Morgan who looks like an erased monkey.

I finally bought Secret Of Monkey Island Special Edition yesterday and finished it the same day. I can't wait for the SE of LeChuck's Revenge - my favorite game in the series! I'm so glad that the voice support will work in both modes!

Hey Telltale team, any chance for an updated version of SOMI SE with voices in classic mode? I'm no programmer, but I would guess that making an update like that wouldn't be impossible. Maybe difficult, but not impossible.

I'm sure a lot of fans would love an update/patch like that. Hell, I'd even pay good money for it. *Hint hint* ;)

Edit: Oh wait, maybe that's a question better aimed at LucasArts.

It reminds me of a mix of CMI Elaine and ToMI Elaine....

In V2 her eyes are too close together and her forehead isn't high enough.
  • edited May 2010
I like V2 Elaine less. It seems to me there is too much focus on her breasts, and she looks like she's about to ground me.
I like the facial features better though. Just not the expression they chose :p

I actually love version 2 (awesome face!) but WHAT the hell is it with these always-too-long-arms? I know that drawing styles vary and I actually love that they do that but when things get too much out of proportion, I think it's kinda... ew.

Maybe they have too many Monkey images in their head (i.e. long arms).

Also V2 seems to have an awful posture

    Where's V3? Is there a V3...? And is there a LeChuck one?
  • edited May 2010
They are being gradually rolled out to us over the weeks leading up to the release, one a day, so far one of Herman, 5 of Guybrush, and 2 of Elaine, google "facebook monkey island" that's where they are being posted

V2 Elaine turns the white collar of her shirt into a string of oversized Marge Simpson pearls! It's well drawn (except the too-long arms again), but as an interpretation of the character it's way off, IMO.
  • edited May 2010
I agree, the pearls in V2 have to go, but the neck scarf should stay. Her body was drawn better in V1 (arm length excluded).
  • edited May 2010
The white half-circle really doesn't look like part of her shirt to me.
But that may just be me (and LA apparently)...

I think that the most best looking Elaine was the CMI one. For me they should follow that pattern.

If they went with the CMI version of Guybrush then I'd agree with you.
But sadly they didn't. It would be a bit odd if they used Elaine's CMI version with another version of Guyrbrush I think.
