I think it looks like she's wearing a Dirndl:

And I don't just know that because I'm German.

And Undead-Elaine is still hot as hell. At least outfit-wise.

    Wow.
A "X as hell" expression that actually makes sense.

There was a lot more variation with the Guybrush concepts. These three Elaines look pretty much the same.

Well considering v3's outfit was basically just digitally drawn on v1's body, that makes sense. Though it seems that they experimented more with Elaine's outfit rather than her body shape compared to Guybrush.

What about the permanent undead, then? :p

    A very cursed styled Elaine:

Nope, that's just not Elaine to me. It's a cool design, but I'm not seeing Elaine in this picture.
  • edited May 2010
she looks much older then any of the other elaines
  • edited May 2010
No, it's not even that she looks older; she actually looks quite young. She just looks too mean to be Elaine. She looks menacing in this design, this look would be better suited to a villain or a tough, ruthless sort of a character.
  • edited May 2010
Except for the weird little hat thing, I like it! I think she looks appropriately annoyed. I felt she looked much older and meaner in the screens, really.

Wow! Elaine V4 totally works for me! Cool design, neat posture. She looks a little more... uhm... adventurous than usual but that's fine IMO.

I also loved the previous version, except for the skirt-thingy. Otherwise, it was fine. :)

she is pissed of in like 90% of the game maybe her happyer moments look better (I still think she looks older)

Wow, uh, version 4 comes quite close. Still not my ideal Elaine, but much much better than Vs 1-3.

It's better than 1-3, but still not liking it...

I wonder why they decided to completely change the colors of her outfit and the bandana.
They seem to be trying to stay extremely close to the original on everyone else.
  • edited May 2010
I don't see the CMI aspect at all in Elaine V4. I like it better than 1-3, but it's not Elaine enough. Maybe if they changed the clothes colors to the purple, brown and black, and changed the colors on her face just a bit, it would look more like Elaine.

But I definitely think it's good that they are trying other options. They captured a large part of her personality that they have been leaving out up until now. If they could fuse this one with maybe V3, that would be great.
  • edited May 2010
They probably changed the color scheme so that they wouldn't have it be PINK/PURPLE=GIRL. I'm sure there were more designs before that led to this one, but I actually kinda like this one.

Version four, will you be my bride?

Swing and a miss, in my opinion. So far I am really hating the Elaines. This one looks like something you would find in a Japanese RPG game to me (not that I dislike those). I'm just not seeing Elaine in any of these. I've always seen Elaine as one of those "deceptively tough" women. As in she's tough, but if you saw her on the street you'd just think she was a cutie, specifically in SoMI and ToMI. We can't really get a feeling of her in LR because we only see her pixelated form with no close-ups. She looks more like a badass in Curse, but I still think she has a cute face and doesn't seem to be over the top badass.

I don't know, I just hope they get this right, so far I haven't really liked any of the Elaines.

What were they thinking? V1 Elaine look perfect, that one looks nothing like the old Elaine! LucasArts needs better staff members or something.

I really like V4, but I agree that I would have never went "hey, that's Elaine!" if I had seen it in another context.
The outfit looks nice but her face looks pretty different to me.
And I personally think she looks too young, not too old.

Yeah, that's the best way to describe that version of Elaine. But "I" think she looks like her middle 40s in that picture. In in ToMI she looks like she's in her 30s.

Doesn't look like Elaine, but I love the design. I wish they would use it for a character that's NOT Elaine. Actually reminds me more of Kate.

Really? She looks 17 tops in this, to me, instead of being in her 20s like she should for Revenge.

V4 Elaine could be Kate Capsize.

I'm genuinely curious as to what specific parts of this design make her look that age.

I'm torn on V4. It's a striking design, but it still doesn't quite hit the mark. A better pose might help, neither view looks very natural.

17? I really can't see it; I see 40s with a Mary Tyler Moore plastic surgen, job.
  • edited May 2010
Again, I'm really curious as to what parts specifically lead to that idea.

Actually, yes. I do see Kate in this. Much more than Elaine certainly.

I don't think she looks like she's in her 40's at all in V4. I would say mid-30's. What age was Elaine supposed to be? I always thought around 25-28. Because she is older than Guybrush, who is like 19/20. But she isn't that much older.

This looks just like how I want to see Elaine look. She doesn't look mean , she looks tough. Once again you all prove to me you have horrible taste in designs. It's like you don't even know who Elaine is.

You said this yesterday too. Who's this directed at again?

Everyone who griped about these designs, or said they aren't Elaine, or griped about the clothes, or griped about the age, or griped about the facial expressions.

In other words pretty much everyone.
