Could be nothing to do with you, too. Could be that they've made a realization in their own lives that they're not being friendly enough, and are now trying to overcompensate. I would accept them as their new selves, while keeping an eye out for things like, "So, can you lend me your new gaming console for a week, ol' pal?"

Ah, I considered that possibility, but when I was working with someone I had to fetch something, and as I was walking back down the store I saw her talking to that person, and they were both watching me walk down to them, and something about the way they were talking made it look like they were talking about me.

Then after that, she started treating me nicer. Friendlier greetings, and she went out of her way to give me back a bit of paper with a barcode on it that I left on the guys trolley.
    It's odd, because:
    1. We have hundreds of the things lying around, and its not usually hard to get another one
    2. People leave them behind all the time, and I've never seen anyone go out of their way to give them back to people

    Hmmm... Definitely odd...

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Because you ate it's family and it now has nothing live for, so it decides to tempt fate by forever crossing the road until its existence is relieved by a passing car.
I hope your happy now. You monster...

Hmmm.... I think I missed the mark on that one by a bit....

    Coolsome’s so stupid that...

He would sell his car for gas money
I told him to buy a colored TV, he came back and said “what color?”
He would stop at a stop sign and wait for it to say go.
He needs twice as much sense to be a half wit.
It takes him 2 hours to watch 60 minutes.
He could trip over a cordless phone.
He watches “The Three Stooges” and takes notes.
He tried to study for a drug test.

And now for a dumb joke:
A pirate’s walking down the street with a car’s steering wheel down the front of his pants. A guy walks up to him and says, “What’s that there for?” And the pirate says, “Arr, it’s driving me nuts!"

A man dies and goes to hell. He meets Satan, who turns out to be a pretty nice guy, and proceeds to drive with him to a resort with a swimming pool and a nine-hole golf course.
"You know," says the man, "this is much nicer than I thought it would be."
"Yeah, but heaven is admittedly a lot nicer. They've got a lot more stuff up there than we have down here."
While playing on the golf course, the man looks over and sees a pit full of fire, pitchforks, and the screams of tortured souls.
"Yikes!" says the man, "What is that?"
Satan looks over and responds, "Oh, that? We had that built for the Catholics. They insisted on it."

We've been under siege by the legions of spambots. Grab a spear and help hold the wall! HIYAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

    Actually, more what SB1 said.

*grabs a spear* TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!

Which is really nice actually, they go for molecular gastronomy in a big way...

Don't forget air and balls. If it doesn't have balls, it's not molecular gasronomy. Pun intended.

I don't see any balls on that plate, so it's obviously not molecular gastronomy...

not only does this have fish foam and balls, it's got cubes too.

ACCEPTABLE! It also appears to be a tiny portion, which is likewise acceptable.

OK, now whenever I dine at a restaurant, I'll be looking for little subliminal messages left by the cook.

(And probably seeing things that aren't really there....)

Okay, this is probably the weirdest thing I will ever ask on here, but does anyone have any information about this painting?

    dsc_0830.jpg

It's from the Hall of Presidents in Disney World but I'm going to assume it existed before that. I'd like to know where it's from because it's absolutely awesome.
  • edited November 2012
The painting was done by a Disney artist, I believe first for the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction. The Hall of Presidents art is I'm pretty sure all by Imagineers, but done in a style suitable for the era.

Wow, I would have never thought those paintings were made specifically for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and The Hall of Presidents. That's crazy. You two are extremely awesome.

I have written 12 trunk novels in the past three years. I have never shown the manuscripts to any publisher, nor have I told anyone what they are about, with the exceptions of Secret Fawful and Haggis. I am too embarrassed to show them to anyone.

Except that you have neat ideas.

Anybody that didn't like the mystery novel with forum users has no sense of fun.

"The painting is accomplished in the style of Winslow Homer. Homer represented the school of naturalism, the realistic picturing of the contemporary scene. Homer painted by eye more than by tradition and he was an independent American pioneer of the impressionistic vision, then developing also in France."

Didn't yet know about Winslow Homer, but research is rewarding. The Lincoln picture supposedly in Homer's style doesn't have the same ring to it for me. My first question would be about materials; and the painting is so luminous that I'd naturally assume it to be a watercolor (instead of oils). Compared to a watercolor painting of Homer's, the differences might become clear.

    800px-Perils_of_the_Sea_Winslow_Homer_1881.jpeg

Some of the reflections at the bottom look a bit like Lincoln's floor... but I suspect that the Disney painting uses opaque media for the highlights (window, metal mantlepiece, glass) - gouache maybe. Not the thing Winslow Homer might have done.

Maybe that thing in the fireplace could be replaced with the LucasArts symbol, now. It almost looks like that already.

This is my favorite piece of Homer's art.
