I am depressed by the huge number of people on youtube who actually thought he was mad and treating fans terribly. I weep for a world who can't take this as comedy gold.

Also, in unrelated news, I bought, played, and finished Bioshock Infinite yesterday. It was glorious and now I have this pressing need to talk about it with everybody, but only people who have finished it.

I watched someone playing it, does that count? (I can't play FPS's, my reaction times are just too slow)

Someone in the comments noted it's a good sign of his acting prowess.

Holy shit! How much of what finger did you cut off by doing what? Are you okay?.

I was cutting a potato lengthwise. I used bearclaw, but not enough it it. I was being careless and the cleaver slipped and cut off 80% of my nail and tip of my finger at a bit of a slant. It's at least good to know that my nice cleaver is nice and sharp to do that in one clean cut. I actually did this at home cooking. I was talking to my honey about work and wasn't paying enough attention.

It felt like it was a close call and didn't hurt much initially. And then I looked down and saw how much was missing and entered a state of panic and hyperventilated. It was bleeding pretty profusely and I almost fainted. It didn't stop bleeding until a few hours ago. Yikes.
...same hand you cut yourself deeeeply one year ago??

haha yep. The left hand is defenseless against my knife wielding hand.

If she was well enough to come in here and post right after it happened, she's probably still ok now (unless the knife came back for the rest, like the crocodile chasing Captain Hook).

I should be fine, but I'm took a day off work to keep my open wound away from chicken and beef juices. Mainly chicken juices.

Here's how my hand looks like right now with my newly switched bandages. It's almost cartoonish because of how much gauze I had to use.

Sorry for leaving the story hanging :( I had to make sure everything stabilized first.

Oh my goodness. Glad it wasn't any worse!! Did... did you find the bit that got cut off? :(

On the bright side... at least it'll never get in the way again?

Everyone says that but after hours and hours, days after days of using it, you eventually forget. And that's when it hits ya.

Ouch. I feel for ya. I cut the tip of my middle finger off on a meat slicer when I worked at a deli.

The good news is that since it's just the tip, the wound will heal in time and you'll completely forget about it until you happen to look down at it.

In fact, completely forgot about my scar until just now. ;)
  • I once chopped my freakin’ finger with a cleaver. Thank God I live near a hospital.

Being a pianist, and also having a job in which manual dexterity in both hands is absolutely essential, having a finger cut off is absolutely terrifying to me. Actually, we had this seminar about face transplants where the speaker asked us whether we'd rather have a leg transplant, a hand transplant, or a face transplant (if we could only have one and were missing all three). He was expecting everyone to wish they had the face, but I totally messed up his whole thing by saying I'd give up face and mobility for hands.

I would pick leg. I could wear a super villain mask and have a guybrush hook to replace them.
  • edited April 2013
I'd pick the face. I can get prosthetic legs, and I don't really have hands in the conventional sense, so... yeah.
  • edited April 2013
It might be kind of fun to tape a different drawing as your face every day. Of course, I'd need hands to draw it.
  • edited April 2013
I wouldn't ask for any of the three. I don't need a face...might just wear my old one as a mask, like the Joker. And I don't need hands or legs...I can get automail.

Oh god I have no idea what I'd do if I was still playing cello.
  • edited April 2013
Well, given it's only the tip of your finger, and it sounds like you got to the emergency room in time, I don't think you'll have any long term movement problems that would really affect playing the cello anyways. I was more extrapolating to anything that would cut off a joint. And now I can't stop my hands from writhing.

Doing my best to power through the last 10 backgrounds, many of which are partially done. After that there's nothing left to do but color them.

Yeah, like that doesn't happen in commercials, magazines, billboards, the newspaper or ANYWHERE else you look.

Peer Pressure, it's not just for high school anymore.
