As awesome as a new pokemon snap game would be, it won't be anywhere near as awesome as the original is. On the principal that no-one cares about any post-151 pokemon. For me the whole "Oh wow, it's Gyarados!" of my youth will be replaced by "Oh look it's a Pokemon I don't recognize. Yay."
I spent so long restarting that course because I was trying to hit a Magikarp at *just* the right time... damn you Goldeen, I don't want you! But yeah, I know what you mean about the new Pokemon. I liked the original ones and the Ruby/Sapphire ones. Everything that came between/after is a long line of 'meh'. Except for Ho-Oh.
If you're nostalgic, you probably own a bloody 64 or at least had an emulator of some kind beforehand.
True, but I can't play the n64 on the bus, or on the toilet. (what?)
And I'm uneasy with emulators. They just feel... dodgy. Both on legal grounds and in play terms.
Oh, and the 3D effect is perfectly fine with me. I can even use it on the bus on full notch without any ill effects (maybe a dash of ghosting, but that's it.)
Also, I don't think the remakes are really hurting the franchises. If anything, the money that comes from them can go into the development of new games, and the remakes can be a way of gauging the market. Starfox assault/command had relatively pants sales, so they might very well look at starfox 64 3D to see how well that did, and decided whether or not to rest the franchise based on that.
Isn't the Wii Virtual Console basically an emulator? That's what I was referring to. (it's got Pokemon Snap!)
Also, it's not like remakes have hurt the Pokemon franchise, what with the various Pokemon remakes they've put out over the years. (FireRed/LeafGreen and HeartGold/SoulSilver) If the Gen 1 remakes hadn't sold well, I doubt they'd have gone on to make the Gen 2 ones.

Also that way, Nintendo can find out what people actually want in a new Star Fox game.
- Remove Stupid plot and pointless add-on characters like Crystal, Peppy hair's daughter, panther ect.
Just keep it simple. The Star Fox crew vs Andross
- Remove Stupid gameplay gimmicks
- Lots of new, well designed levels and bosses.
(Especially ones for Landmaster/Aquamarine)
- More paths and secrets
- Online Multiplayer
- More maneuvers for all-range mode battles.
(And more power-ups for multiplayer, but they are also customisable like Smash bros.)
EDIT: I mean you can add something new, like a energy consuming charge attack or something (but the tradeoff, is that being shot hurts more or something), not something stupid like Commands' touch screen controls.
Why would you want to play an N64 game with mediocre cheapo texture upgrades and an awful eye destroying 3D effect?
Texture + model upgrades, environment upgrades, special effects upgrades, and 3D that isn't awful or eye-destroying. Now let's talk about you passing your opinion off as everyone else's.
Of course it gives people headaches. The way the screen works is tricking your brain into thinking you're seeing a three-dimensional image. It does seem to depend on the person though, some people can't look at the 3DS with the 3D on at all without getting a headache.
And Friar, they were actually going to re-do Ocarina's soundtrack until Koji Kondo himself went in and said, "Make sure you keep it true to the N64 sound!" And technically speaking, the soundtrack IS redone. They had to make slight changes to the compositions and the tracks to make them work on the 3DS. In a way, I do wish that they had gone with a remastered soundtrack, but on the other hand, the soundtrack is good as it is.
We need a new Pokemon Snap game on either the 3DS or the Wii U because the device is a gyroscopic controller with a screen on it. You could literally hold it like a camera and point it around to aim it like a camera. It could easily become one of the coolest experiences on either console.
If they don't do it I might have to go over there and slap them

The upgrades are barely even on par with PS2, and the 3D just makes it look like a cheap pop-up book, that also happens to give 96.3% of humans a headache after prolonged exposure.
You know, I realize that the 3D is a selling point of the thing, and selling points generally shouldn't be things that you want to turn off, but everyone who has a problem with the 3D seems to be ignoring the fact that it can be turned off. Hell, I always play with it turned off, and the other features of the 3DS are still enough to keep me happy about my purchase.
Really? I read that 85.4 percent of 3DS owners play with the 3D on full-blast.
See, I can make up statistics too!
I think you'll find that 5 out of every 4 statistics on the internet are made up.
Wait.
@Shodan: Moaning at a game because of limitations of the hardware? That's hardly fair. And I think it looks pretty decent. Certainly no worse than Star fox Assault was on every level barring the first (the first on SFA I mean. That Space scene was amazing. After that, not so much) They couldn't improve the graphics THAT much (i.e. completely different enemy models, etc.), without changing the game underneath. Also bear in mind the game is meant to be played on a smaller screen than you see footage for.

I've never gotten a headache from playing it for its full battery life. You're making shit up. On top of the fact that the graphics are on par with the PS2 if not a bit better texture-wise. It actually looks exactly like the original artwork now.
I dislike 3D, but I also don't let it ruin my gaming experience since I simply don't buy consoles where 3D is the main selling point. Or consoles at all for that matter [=PC snob]. I don't begrudge people who can watch 3D and I have on occasion experienced 3D done tastefully and in such a way that doesn't kill my brain.

That's bad. There are a lot of video games that are absolutely brilliant on consoles.
That's bad. There are a lot of video games that are absolutely brilliant on consoles.
I've occasionally thought of getting one, but then I think of all the expenses and decide to just save up instead for my next computer. In any case, I have such an enormous backlog of RPGs that I've barely scraped the surface of, so I'm really in no hurry to add more titles to that list.
The only time the 3D on my 3DS ever gave me a headache was the day I bought it, and that was probably more due to the fact that I kept sliding the 3D on and off every thirty seconds to examine the difference.
I usually play with it on, I find the games genuinely look better with the 3D all the way up.
It also doesn't really look like a popup book. It looks more like you're looking at a small miniature set, except right in front of you and not on a screen. There are times the 3D doesn't work as it hangs on the edges of the screen, but for the most part it looks right.
I don't use the 3D because it doesn't look 3D to me. It looks different somehow, yes, but I'm not feeling any illusion of depth there, and I don't feel I'm getting anything from it, so I may as well turn it off and extend my battery life.
Oh, and it doesn't work at all in VVVVVV. Instead of the foreground standing out from the background, it just makes everything look out of focus, and not knowing exactly where the edge of your character is turns out to be a very bad thing in a game that's so precision-based.
I think the "looking into a window" way of using 3D worked pretty well in the new version of Star Tours at Disneyland. Didn't give me a headache either. But that also required glasses.
That's weird, because the opposite is actually true. You're seeing a higher resolution image with far less aliasing by turning off 3D.
And the graphics for everything would be incredibly better if they didn't waste all that power on the 3D effect.
Your mileage may vary but turning on the 3D effectively doubles the resolution, personal tolerance to the 3D effect may be a factor here. Generally I keep it on for the increased fidelity and vibrant colours. Plus I like the 3D effect and cope very well with it.

The 3D effect does increase resolution, but it DOES decrease the antialiasing effect. And in some games, the 3D severely reduces the framerate.
It does not increase the resolution, at all.
In 3D mode, you're looking at two 400x240 images, vs the single 800x240 image in 2D mode. The resulting effect is that both eyes are seeing a lower res image, even though the number of pixels is the same, which causes the "decreased antialiasing" effect (also known as "lower resolution").

A new episode of that old Kirby show is on right now(US only).
And by new, I mean it is an actual new episode with the old cast. I know its new because kirby becomes his epic yarn form for a split second:p
Awful eye destroying 3D effect?
My God, man. You just really hate this thing, don't you?
and that only gives you a headace?
I'm sure a diarrhea smoothie would have some, umm... interesting effects, but would headache really be one of them?
Pretty much, yeah. Prophlegm?
Im just saying. If a 3d gives you just a headace,
The "smoothie" would have to only give you a headace as well.
It also leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me chuke all over my neighbor's stupid dog, if that helps you.

Actually, after having a cough for two weeks I'm pretty antiphlegm.

What if what I want to say is "no, it absolutely does not"? The rampant aliasing all over everything on screen makes my eyes puke when I look at it.
