I must say - the game looks like it is shaping up rather nicely. The story seems like a natural continuation from Part III, the voice acting is great, the characters and car are spot on, and it looks to be a great adventure!!

Darn you TellTale for not releasing this on the 360. Now with the trailer out, I want to pre-order the game even more, but the rational side of me is telling me to wait (since I've got the first episode for free) to see if it will run on my almost 10 year old computer.

Good luck with that. My computer's only two years old and I'm worried about whether it will run or not. Sheesh!

haha yeah. A friend and I built it back in 2001 and I just never needed to get a newer one because I do almost all of my gaming on consoles. He put a graphics card in it back then, and I was able to play the GTA: Hill Valley mod, so there might be a little hope - but like I said, I don't want to rush in to buy the whole season only to find out I'm out of luck.

Indeed Sam & Max S3 was a bit sluggish on my year old 13" MacBook Pro

Hey, lots of positive responses. Glad you guys are liking the trailer! As to a few concerns/points raised...

Lip sync in the trailer's not indicative of the final lip sync. As said elsewhere in the thread, that is (unfortunately!) often the case with our trailers. It'll be polished up by the time the game's in your hands.
    Trackah123 wrote: »
And what i found is no character shadows on some scenes? some have them some don't? You can see it on the gametrailers TV thingie.

Just to make our lives hell, shadows broke in the engine during the week we were capturing final footage for the trailer. They came back online at the end so some important shots were cleaned up. Lighting/shadowing in that trailer is not final game lighting, but its getting there.

(will the telltale cursor be in the final game?),

It's a flux capacitor shape and it will likely be what ships, but not for certain!

IMPRESSIVE trailer & nice inside video (skateboard scene, amp scene, young Doc scene, etc).

Seriously ... where DOES the car come from .... Hmmmmm. :-)

(ps) and nobody spoke about this but what does Marty's dad do now? Work for a bank? He's no longer a author? Does he know Doc created a time traveling car?

Probably still an author. The bank comment was probably just related to the Estate Sale that appears to be about to happen at the beginning of the game.

Is it just me or did the flux capacitor "fluxed" backwards in every shot?.

    Other than that, awesome!

I'm glad George will finally get the importance he deserves.

Of course he never talked about Doc... WHEN would he ?

In part 1, obviously he doesn't know him as a teenager.

In part 2 and 3, the actor wasn't in those movies so he had almost no scene ...

Thanks Jake, I was a bit worried about that. A tiny bit.

Do you not think that putting out a trailer with that sort of lip syncing is likely to put some people off? I'd have bought it regardless, but that's because I know what you guys are capable of, but a lot of people won't be aware of the quality of your other games.

Aside from the syncing, which we now know is going to be improved, I'm really impressed with the trailer. The story looks like it may well be wonderful, the soundtrack spot on and the voice acting - wow.

Well, it honestly looks worse than the screens.

Beside of that i generally don't like the style, i'm surprised how bad the animations and mimic were. Seems like the characters were made of some wood and, dunno, Pinocchio looked more like a living creature to me. Washed out textures, disgusting colours, weird lightning, ... same old music, again, nah... worst thing i've seen from TTG so far (i didn' play CSI).

It doesn't look like a quality video game made in 2010.

They had to get the video to GameTrailers in time for the show. Sucky but that's how it is! I think an updated version of the trailer with at least slightly better lip sync will appear online in the next day or so, at least so the one that is archived up for future generations will have less mushy mouths :)

Aside from the syncing, which we now know is going to be improved, I'm really impressed with the trailer. The story looks like it may well be wonderful, the soundtrack spot on and the voice acting - wow.

Cool! I love the soundtrack in the game so far. It sounds like the score to a lost fourth film to me.

Not much to go on really but it does the job of getting me psyched to play it!

Just the fact that Marty has to lie to his parents about spending time with Jennifer kind of implies that they wouldn't exactly approve of him spending time with Doc Brown, either. Of course, like I said, we don't really know much about their new personalities at the end of the movie. Though, they do like Jennifer now, so maybe they like Doc, too.

The thing about "George knowing about Doc" is that, in the movies, the McFly family side of the story and the Doc side of the story never intersected (again, the "Uncle Doc" scene excepted). In the game, apparently they will. That, in itself, is exciting.

Taumel, if you hate Telltale's games so much, why do you continue to post (and post so much) on their forums? If I don't like a company or their products, I stay as far away from them as possible. I don't get it.

    Thanks for the answer Jake.

I'm sure you folks at telltale will work out the kinks and bugs of the BTTF engine and polish it all up. :)

    Can't wait to play it!

Ohh and personally i like the flux-mouse pointer. I couldnt think of anything better then that.
Or you could also make a normal mouse pointer and use the Flux pointer on the spots where there is interactivity with characters and/or objects :)

Wait, so the music used in the trailer (aside from the Back in Time, of course) wasn't taken from the BttF movie? Wow.

Yeah, it was all new stuff by Jared Emerson-Johnson - except for the Huey Lewis track of course!

Whoa call me blown away. Too soon to ask for a BTTF TTG soundtrack?

Too soon to ask if a soundtrack would even be possible legally?
  • edited December 2010
I only noticed 2 weird things:

The Last Time Departed issue which has been mentioned already

And when Marty opens the door to the Delorean if you look carefully through the fog the time circuit lever is in the horizontal "off" position!
  • edited December 2010
    Yeah it sounds really good.

Now we need a Dolby Compressor/Limiter and some awesome drums from Stormdrum 2 or something.. (I make music myself). and make the game even more kick-ass :D

*groan* I hope studio politics doesn't happen, after all Universal did let Intrada do a proper release of the BTTF score this year. Hopefully TTG & Jared got the rights to produce a CD

Were did you get the impression from that i hate their games generally? Maybe contrary to you i just like some of their games and dislike others for both subjective and objective reasons.

I just had a look at what was advertised to me as beeing awesome. Curious as i am i had a look at it and simply was surprised that it looked worse than what i expected, especially in fields TTG delivered more convincing work before.
  • edited December 2010
Is it too soon too ask how soon can we hear the main BttF theme in Jared's arrangement?

    O____O

    Wow.
I'm glad to have been a fan of you guys before you even touched BTTF.

Jared is one of the most talented people on the face of the earth. This is guarenteed to be the best sounding Telltale game yet with his soundtrack and the great voice talent (Christopher Lloyd, AJ Locascio, James Arnold Taylor, and any other surprises).
If you guys fix the lip sync too (which you've said isn't final anyway), it'll be the best Telltale game visually too.

And gameplay...well, you've never let us down before! :)

Wait, what ? Not only is it obvious that the new "parents" are more cool with him, but ...

Why wouldn't they let Marty be with Doc ? At 1 am ? Sure he has to sneak out but... On a regular day ... I don't see the problem.

It's not as if Marty could get Doc pregnant or do nasty things with him, you know... >_>

Having been on the forums every day for a few months now, every single post about Telltale's games I've seen from you has been some form of a complaint. That might have done it.

All right, just forget about the "Marty's parents knowing about the friendship" thing. THIS is the important part:

Well, i'm around here a little bit longer than just a few months but i understand that it hurts if someone doesn't like something you like. But let's be honest, if it wouldn't be BTTF, which some people are fans of here, then it also would receive more objective critics and also after watching the trailer for a second time, it still looks awful.
  • edited December 2010
    @taumel

Well Jake mentioned that there were issues with the BTTF engine which as it seemed affected the shadows / lighting etc.

So lets hope there will be a better trailer soon with better graphics and lipsyncing.

    See post #166

I was just listening to the trailer again with my Sennheiser EH-350 (Monitor headphones).

It all sounds great! the sound effects has deep base and overall all good sound.
But the music lacks a bit of low frequencies (Unless that is trailer-related). Maybe a small EQ boost in the music at 80Hz ~ 120Hz should do the trick :D (i'm aiming for that cinematic bass feel)

And the soundtrack is really good too. Now you can start giving us some JP-related something! :p
