Thought the co-op DLC was great. I've payed for far worse, this thing's a worthy addition to the game!

Yeah great fun with my cousin. Even if we beat it in a day.

And a level editor where i dont have to search 5 different websites to find a website means I get plenty of single player maps:D

Yeah, having the maps download straight from inside the game's a great touch. Here's hoping someday Steam'll be able to do all that sort of stuff from inside the client. Modding would be a dream!!

Desura-style mod management would be amazing, yes.

I knew you'd say that!! What can I say, I love me some Steam. It's the best service out there giving most everything under one roof I personally think.

    Portal Bookends

    Finally!

I saw those. And I want.

Now I just need a bookshelf with enough empty space on it for bookends.
  • edited November 2011
That is awesome. I've always wanted bookends. can never find them anywhere anymore.

Psh. Frankly, I don't even believe those exist!

Please place books into the Aperture Science Emergency Intelligence Incinerator until the desired amount of free space has been acquired. Thank you for your participation.

I actually have a pretty awesome (and totally non-functional!) idea of what to do with them. I just need to figure out a place for overflow video games.

DO WANT!!! Oh man, there is SO MUCH Portal stuff on ThinkGeek that I want...
  • edited December 2011

    Jinkies!

Seriously though. That is awesome. I want one! :D

I just got a Garmin for Christmas! I didn't see an option for custom voices, though. I suppose it doesn't work with ALL Garmin's?

While I haven't done this myself, I don't think it's a "custom voice" option so much as it is hooking it up to a computer and replacing some files. What model of Garmin do you own?
  • edited January 2012
A Garmin Nuvi 1350. It has a selection of voices but they're all synthesized, it sounds like.
  • edited January 2012
    Yeah, that should work.
    readme wrote:
    1. Remove the SD card (if any, just to avoid confusion) and connect your Garmin (Nuvi) GPS with a USB cable.

    2. On it, rename/move 'Garmin/Voices/English_American_.vpm' to 'English_American_.vpm_BACKUP' in the root
directory of your Garmin unit (the firmware doesn't care about stuff outside 'Garmin' directory).

    3. Copy the downloaded 'English_American_.vpm_GLaDOS' to 'Garmin/Voices/English_American_.vpm'.

    4. Safely remove / unmount the unit to make sure all data is saved. Disconnect the unit. Put the SD card
back in (if there was one).

    5. Power on and choose English American as your voice. Enjoy GLaDOS.

I got one of those for my Tomtom when I first got it. The description was like, "don't listen to her, she lies!" and I was like, "ha ha ha," and then I got lost because she actually said left instead of right and vice versa and it took me a while to notice.

Don't know if this version does that, but it should.

My hierarchy is a little different. The Voices folder is in the root directory not in the Garmin folder. I'll try anyway, though.

EDIT: Just tried it, it doesn't work. There's no voice whatsoever. Makes sense seeing as the original voice was synthesized as opposed to recorded.

The Steam Translation Server has been updated with information on the latest DLC, which implies it shall be out very soon. Apparently it will be called "The Perpetual Testing Initiative".

I'm wondering if it'll be another MP-only DLC.

Made a new GLaDOS portrait for my apartment. This one is a functioning reading nightlight too! It's angled to shine 12 mini LEDs (in her eyehole) right down to where I read in bed.

Okay, guys. I'm in the process of building a Wheatley to-scale plush along with several giant Jurassic Park plush toys.

Wheatley has poseable/removable handles. And I'm adding a sound chip.
BUT I CANNOT DECIDE WHAT TO MAKE HIM SAY!

Please help me pick something. I need a short witty one-liner, because I picked an inexpensive sound chip whose memory is short. I may get a second or third to cycle through, but for now, he'll only have one

    Ahem.

    My two favorites:

"You have no idea what it's like in this body." - because, you know, plush.

"Um. 'TRUE'. I'll go 'true'." - To use as a sort of idiotic Magic 8-ball.

I'll have to pick through that page more when I have a chance. For now, I like "Hello!" and "Do you smell neurotoxin?".

"Now you appear to have a small case of serious brain damage"

    or however that goes.

"Just goes to show, people with brain damage are the real heroes."
  • edited February 2012
I like "I'm speaking in an accent that is beyond her range of hearing..."

EDIT: Wait, you can only make it say one thing? Then I'm going with Guru's neurotoxin one.

Oh, so you might not be able to put a long quote in.

    Then yeah Guru's then.

Apparently you can bring him to an altar with a helm and some moonstone and you get a Dovacore helmet- a core with HORNS! And you get the Space Core back after the ritual. He has special lines to say during it as well

    "Arcane magic, in spaaaaace!"
