Summer isn't over until school starts, right? And I happen to know that Caltech doesn't start the Fall semester until October sometime, so they've still got about a week left before it's officially late.
It'll be late, they've got a lot going on over there, DLC for Portal 2 and L4D2, DOTA2 and CS:GO. Then there's HL2:EP3 and that secret project that the concept arts of were sneaked out.
and god knows what all else, Valve's a pretty small studio as well.

You're thinking of the definition of Summer Break, not the definition of Summer itself. Much the same way Christmas/Holiday break does not only cover the holidays themselves but also adjacent days, so does summer break not usually completely overlap with summer itself. Labor Day Weekend is generally considered the end of summer culturally and is fairly close to where it ends in a meteorological sense. From an astrological perspective the season ends with the Autumnal Equinox, which occurred last Friday.
Its a shame the DLC is only Co-op this time round, but hey, the co-op puzzles have more potential for crazy solutions so I'm fine with that. I'd like single player in DLC2 though

I thought challenge modes for single player were also in this DLC.
I'm pretty sure they claimed that September is still summer, but it seems pretty unlikely that we'll get it before October now
No, they said "mid-September" was still technically Summer, which is accurate, because the Autumn Equinox that ends the astrologically-defined Summer happened September 23rd this year.
Unless they changed it, the original announcement said it would be a free dlc including "single and multiplayer content such as a new challenge mode".
Chet Faliszek confirmed last week on the Eurogamer podcast that the 1st DLC will only include Co-op maps and some extra story surrounding co-op. and the challenge maps similar to Still Alive, but there will be no new singleplayer maps in the upcoming DLC (which he said will be out 'soon'!!) But he also confirmed that they were working on DLC-2 (predictably)

Sounds like maybe they've split it into two DLCs a single player and a multi player one?
Also yay for more story! The puzzles are great, but its the characters and storyline that make Portal for me.
So it looks like the DLC drops on Wednesday, it's primarily co-op based, and the complete OST is now up.
Do you mean up for all 3 consoles? Because my co-op partner(cousin) was stupid enough to get the 360 version and would like to play it with him. And by "primarily coop based" do you mean there is some single player in it? I aint playing single player on the 360.
Valve has announced that the first DLC for Portal 2, which is called "Peer Review," will be available for free download on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 on October 4.
"Peer Review" continues the cooperative exploits of Atlas and P-Body, the two beloved robot protagonists in Portal 2's co-op campaign. GLaDOS will also be featured as the two tackle a new co-op test track. However, the DLC will also include a Challenge mode for both co-op and single-player with full leaderboard support.
I was about to say was have fun, but with Portal 2 that is an insured guarantee.
I dunno, I thought the solo campaign mode was lacking in a lot of ways, especially with the "Quantum Corridor" segments where you just have to walk from place to place being narrated at while looking for the one surface you can drop a portal on to continue walking down a hallway.
On the other hand, Co-Op is AMAZING, and the new Peer Review chambers seem like a very robust offering. Seems like a good full chapter's worth of rooms, complete with GLaDOS voice-over and a full story to itself. Very solid chambers, too, with great puzzle design. It probably also helps that divisionten is an excellent co-op partner. :P
Firstly. Loved first DLC, but saw the ending coming. Right when we were there I was "
wait is this one of those moments in portal where it builds up to something and purposly makes it easy. Followed by. Wait, SHE has returned. Valve wont kill Chell off, but the only other female character was that bird. Nah it couldnt be that

You don't seem to grasp Valve time properly. Here let me tell you.
Everything arrives late. Summer DLC is likely to be released after Summer.

I haven't gotten around to it yet. I need my co-op partner to be ready.
Well, I can't play right now anyway, so maybe if I'm lucky, Icedhope will be available later tonight.

Valve is making the level editor
A.Easier to use(as you can see from the screenshots)
B.Easier to actually find quality custom maps.
In their next DLC.
