Why didn't you like Zelda 2 then? That was a side scroller. Much like Castlevania. The only overhead bit is the world map to get from area to area.
  • edited May 2011
Yeah...I just lost interest after the first one.

And greatest games of all time?
At the time of their releases, I think anyone would be hard pressed not to say Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3. Personally, I'm a Super Metroid fan.
  • edited May 2011
Super Metroid is definitely a contender for best ever.
  • edited May 2011
As much as I love Super Metroid, I just think Metroid Fusion is the best side scroller.

Also I'm getting quite annoyed PSN is down.

Not becuase I actually use PSN.
Its that I can't register my copy of Portal 2 on steam yet. (I got the PS3 version so I could get the PC version too)

This feels like a When its done situation.

I found out who Hacked PSN.

I admit it, I loled, but thankfully Homer doesn't have my debit card info as I heard a rumor that something like this might've happened, and lo and behold, it happened.

Sucks though that I can't access LBP or LBP 2 online levels. Media Molecule needs to make it so you can download levels if they ever make a LBP 3.

Just like Duke Nukem Forever and we know how long that took to get out.

You kidding? The easy game that handholds you and tells you where to go through the entire process? Even Zero Mission was better. Not that Fusion was a bad game, but Super is definitely the shining example of a perfect Metroid game. That and Prime 1.
  • edited May 2011
When I first got Super Metroid, I reset the game like 5 times trying to beat Ridley :D keep in mind kids, there was no real internet and I was the first of my friends to play it. Then the walkthrough came in Nintendo Power and I felt like a moron.

So, Fusion holds your hand and tells you where to go through the entire process, but Prime 1 doesn't? Huh, I wonder what game you played.
  • edited May 2011
Certainly not as much from what I remember, not to mention that you can also turn hints off IIRC and Fusion is much more linear. Hell, isn't there like only one thing that you can do out of order in that game? (I still loved Fusion though)
  • edited May 2011
Super Metroid is the best out of all of them in my opinion.
  • edited May 2011
Super Metroid is pretty linear too, the only difference being Super Metroid doesn't tell you at any point what exactly you're trying to do, so you end up wandering around a bit until you figure it out, but there is a pretty clear order that you essentially have to complete the game in.

Also, don't even try counting Super Metroid's many sequence breaks as making the game non-linear, as they are all clearly unintended. :p

Prst, we all know the best game of all time is the original Paper Mario.

You were close enough, so I fixed it for you.

I didn't say that. Yes, Prime told you where to go, but I'm not just talking about that. There was so much more to the game. Fusion just seemed to be a completely linear point-A-to-point-B kind of game. And while technically all Metroid games are linear, they weren't as obvious or lazy as Fusion.

Again, I loved Fusion. Was great fun. Just not the best Metroid game.

I've seen Paper Mario 2 (Cube) mentioned a couple of times. I actually have it available at the moment, borrowed from somebody, but haven't had much of an urge to actually play it. Is it really that good?

    Yes, yes and more yes.

...if you like RPGs that is. I'm sticking to Super Metroid.
  • edited May 2011
I don't play RPGs. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door is still my favorite game of all time.
Does it make sense? Yes? No? It doesn't have to.

It's not back, it's just a firmware update in preparation for it coming back. It will be back in a few hours though, hopefully.

I use PSN for Netflix purposes, and that has been consistently up anyway. :D

PSN is back, the online store is not, but all online capabilities are back ^_^

I CAN FINALLY WATCH NETFLIX AGAIN ON MY PS3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • edited May 2011
Yeah NETFLIX worked the whole time for me... after someone pointed out it would work if you kept signing in.

I am curious to see what they "give" to make it right that they let people get our credit card info and personal info.
  • edited May 2011
I doubt the free DLC will be worth the looong wait now.
  • edited May 2011
PS Blog EU said that at least EU would get a choice of 2 out of 5 PS3 games.

We currently only have the free Identity Theft, and also the protection.

I know, it worked for 3 days, and then it didn't, kept trying to sign me in when i chose the video, and then when i signed in and cancelled netflix gave me the message that i had to be connected to psn to watch the video...

I gotta say, i'm happy with the route they went with re-launching the network... forcing people to change their passwords was a good thing of them to do... now to sit and wait for their next move ^_^

    netflix always worked for me
