So the only solution is to REPLAY THE WHOLE GAME FROM THE BEGINNING AND DO THE GLASS HOUSE THING FIRST? Aww.... guys you should really hire new beta testers
Yeah, seriously. Game-breaking bug in Hector, and now a game-breaking bug in OUTATIME.
I installed the newer download. My previous save from inside the glass house didn't work (same issue with no hotspots appearing). My save immediately prior to that one, where I have
the incriminating recording on the plant in my inventory, but haven't given it to Officer Parker yet,
works ok (i.e. I can click on things in the glass house).

By newer download do you mean with old save files?
Attached is a save where the phone booth puzzle has been completed, but the recording not yet given to Officer Parker. You just need to walk over to the glass house from this point, once you are inside the hotspots will appear ok.
Hope this helps people who might otherwise have to replay a bunch of stuff.
I restarted the game without re-installing it, and it seems I can progress normally now.
Still can't find a save button though.
I launched the game on Steam, BTW. Not the Steam version, just the Telltale version launched on Steam.
Hmm. That may be bypassing the DRM's verification process, which will make the game think it's supposed to be in demo mode--hence, no save/load.
Try launching the game through the desktop shortcut created during installation, or directly from the .exe file in the Program Files/Telltale Games/Back to the Future The Game/Episode 5 folder. That should let you save/load normally.
Can someone who has a saved game in which the glass house bug is occurring please send it to me in an e-mail (choffman@telltalegames.com)? The saved game files can be found in this folder: Documents/Telltale Games/Episode 5
Sorry for the trouble, everyone. We ARE working on this, but we're not able to reproduce the bug on our end... which definitely puts a damper on fixing it.
Hehe, I reinstalled and replayed with default options, and finally I got it working. But still I am in the glasshouse with a new bug.
Suddenly after a
cutscene where Citizen Brown gets Emmett to faint
., Marty levitated and got stuck between four walls and a handle that doesnt lead anywhere, back to the four walls and the handle.
I went back through and got it working as well. Different bug with me though. Pulled the handle up top, then tried to pull the next handle that was Hot Spotted for me.. and Marty walked down /through/ a solid floor, I didn't see any
cutscene where Citizen Brown gets Emmett to faint
before I bumped into a spot that got me back out of the house. So now I'm thinking I missed an important part of the game which might break it. The whole glass house area is riddled with bugs. Restarting. Again.
Yep, I have the same problem too on Mac. I'll try the save file. Where are the save files kept on the Steam version? I found the SteamApps folder, but I don't see one anywhere for BttF saves.
EDIT: Nevermind, found it. It's in the Telltale Folder. Now let's see if this works...
I had the same problem. Solving the glass house first prevents the bug from rearing its ugly head, but since the game is designed to allow the payer to choose the phone booth or house puzzle first, this needs to be rectified. Since this is a bug and NOT a flaw in the puzzle itself, I'm moving this thread to Support where it belongs.
I have the save button and the game is allowing me to save but i can't click on anything in the house of glass. Is there a specific order you have to do things in before you go to the house of glass and if so can someone (who got past the house of glass) list the steps they did everything in?

I think what we're hearing is that it's not that...it's that some one uploaded the wrong file for every one to download. A unfinished version of the game.
I did. Had to restart and do the glass house puzzle first. But it worked just fine.
For the record, I'm on a 2011 MacBook Pro with OSX-6 installed.
This doesn't change the fact that there's still a bug present in the game, but if you do the house puzzle first you'll be able to click on the panels in the house.
But some people claim that they are able to click on some things in the house. So if it was a unfinished version everyone would be stuck at the same place.

There's a bug in the game, as far as I can tell you have to solve the glass house puzzle before you
give the recording to Officer Parker
. There's a working savegame here that might help you if you don't fancy replaying parts of the game.
wait what do you mean you did it 1st? Was that the 1st exhibit you went to? Because in order for CB and Em to appear in the house you have to talk to the diver

Whatever, I don't want to argue this...people seem to have luck with a reinstall, I'm trying that. I suggest you do the same.
I'm quite sure that reinstalling won't help - you need to solve the glass house puzzle before giving the
pot plant recording to Officer Parker.
That's about the only difference between my working save and the point where I got the glass house bug, though I can't guarantee that's the cause of it.
Okay, first time I played I encountered the bug. Restarted and tried heading for the glass puzzle first and was able to click on stuff and exit if need be.
Differences between first and second time playing:
-First playthrough I clicked on the static thing in the beginning as opposed to simply walking towards it. Because of this, part of Marty saying "Here little static...---" (whatever the line was) was cut off. Second time I walked towards the object instead of clicking and the dialogue wasn't cut off.
-First playthrough when I went into the glass house I had the recording device in my inventory (with nothing recorded on it). Second playthrough the only new item I had were the tickets required to get into the glass house.
-First playthrough while I did not skip any dialogue in the glass house itself, I did skip part of Officer Parker's dialogue in the first expo cutscene on accident, right before where Edna demands to know what happened to Emmett. I later skipped some dialogue when interacting with Officer Parker and the objects in the police booth after I had already listened to the dialogue a first time. I also skipped the algae cake dialogue after hearing it the first time.
-Second playthrough did not encounter problems.
Solution: Do the cutscene by Emmett's booth immediately. Talk to Trixie, receive tickets and ask where Emmett is, exit. Go to Officer Parker, ask about Emmett, exit. Go to Edna, ask about Emmett, exit. Go to Arthur, ask about Emmett, exit. Go to the diver, ask about Emmett, exit. Enter glass house.
I was able to solve the puzzle and move on following my solution to get around the bug problem.

I did the glass house 1st and it still didn't work. What are you on Mac? it seems the bug can be avoided on a mac if you do the house 1st but not on a normal pc.

Nope, I'm on PC, and the working savegame I provided has a whole bunch of stuff that's been done before going inside the glasshouse.
I don't envy the tester dudes who have to figure this out!
Buggy, unfinished, you can make a philosophical argument, but it's unfinished as it's buggy...
Best leave costumers who are dealing with unfinished merchandise alone. They might not respond to arguments, controversies kindly when they spent money on a unfinished , buggy game...Best be considerate and let people speak their minds, stick to your advice.
It worked for me...
At any rate, it's no big deal...I followed your advice, and found a monkey away around this "bug"...how colorful...
I'm using the Steam version and with the save that was posted, I was able to get through the glass house but I cannot talk to Parker or Edna since they disappeared.

Hi Caleb, sent you a savegame from inside the glass house where that bug is happening.
