I think that's by 2am tomorrow morning for people such as myself in the UK?

Telltale just tweeted the following message:

The Walking Dead Episode 3 for PC/MAC we will be live by 6pm PST today through the TTG Store, Steam, Origin and our other digital partners.

Are you kidding me? Thanks for delivering the game at the very end of the day and I'm glad console owners got this one first again. What on Earth is the hold up here? Are you guys working down to the wire on this and if so perhaps a change in development cycle needs to happen because the main audience that has supported this company is getting the short end of the stick here.

I'm on the west coast so this isn't as bad but I feel for my friends on the east coast who have work tomorrow and didn't get a chance to play what they already paid for.

Glad I paid up front so people who pay on the spot can get the game first.

I What is even more frustrating is that I didn't get to buy the episodes, I had to buy the full pass on Steam while so Telltale already has my money. Meanwhile the ones whose money they don't have gets access to the game first.

    Something is off here...

Yup. That is why I won't be back after this season. It won't hurt their business but I'm not supporting this type of service.

Well now they have an actual time instead of just a "whenever" date like releasing the episode. Look forward to it.

    They also just tweeted:

"We appreciate everyone’s excitement & can’t wait for you to play as soon as possible. Thanks for standing by, PC/MAC will be live very soon!"

So people can stop being little cry babies now. :P

Why does console owners and those "PSN" things, have to overrule the PC players?? What have we done?? It's so cruel to get 3434464907565 posts about a "review" of a episode, not released yet to the PC!! And we have the most players still, yes?

    /you cruel Telltale!!!

Maybe they're fixing the choices not registering bug that happened in the last episode.

I seriously think people need to chill. It kinda sucks for me that the game will be out at 2am tomorrow morning. I am reviewing it on my website so it kinda puts me in a situation where I will either have to stay up most of the night, or wait until tomorrow (my Dad's birthday) and risk a later than usual review. However, I don't hate Telltale. 6pm where they are based on the day they promised isn't terrible - and it also isn't their fault that I'm in the UK. Let's just all relax - we're nearly there.

I said this to telltale on twitter as well, but I'd rather they said it would be out August 30th for PC, and be pleasantly surprised at being able to play it tonight at 9pm EST.
I'm happy that they finally clued everyone in to what the situation is though.
  • edited August 2012
Well, I'm going to bed, guys, I'll play tomorrow. Thanks to Telltale for let us know the release time, at least.:o
  • edited August 2012
That's about 9 PM EST... Plus crappy install time/needing sleep, guess I'm playing this episode tomorrow. Unless Telltale can pull a miracle and get it up here within the hour ;)

That's just poor, really poor TTG.
We're waiting all day here, community mods giving us hopes the game will air as soon as TTG opens it's offices. Console gamers getting their share earlier than anybody else again.
And then, at the very end of the day for most people in the world you only can come up with "omg we r so excited everybody will get it in the mid of the night today, august 30th" when this should be episode 5 being released.
Not even a simple "Sorry we fucked it up again PC gamers, we will do better in the future"?

    Screw you, TTG.

Really, what is so hard in giving the time right from the start? Is this your game or not?

Digestif - it isn't the middle of the night for them, it's 6pm. Fair enough if you're disappointed, but there is no need to swear and act like that. It just makes the forums seem crass.

My annoyance comes from the fact that I've already parted ways with the entire cost of the game yet when I look on the 360 I see them only being charged per episode. Now I would think you would want to deliver the content to those who paid first instead of last, which is what is happening here.

Not only that but every time the consoles get a prompt update around the same time as Microsoft and Sony are really good about this. Telltale on the other hand just has to release the PC version, which the best of my knowledge was done alongside the console version about two weeks ago.

It would be a different story if all the platforms had a scattered release like this where you didn't really know when it was releasing until it did but Xbox Live updates at the same time every, PSN updates at the same time (though sometimes late), so why is the PC version getting left in the cold?

I'd be pretty annoyed right now if I had planned on playing this today. We already deal with the cliff hanger endings, unknown launch windows, and constantly delays in a story we're actively engaged in. This is just salt on an annoying wound.

This isn't about hate so much so as just wanting better service and to get easier access to a product I paid for. I love the work Telltale does and I don't want them to stop but they could streamline the process for PC gamers some. That is one of the freaking perks of the platform after all. I'd expect this nonsense on my 360.

Most US gaming companies (that I know of) are located on the west coast of the US...so a lot of people go by PST in that regard.
  • edited August 2012
@kejigoto Yeah I understand all that - but publishing a digitally distributed game simultaneously on so many different platforms was never going to be easy. Telltale are getting better - I've noticed that the regular forum users seem to wait a little bit more peacefully than the users with only a few posts to their name. The truth is, we don't know why the PC version is coming later than usual - but I would rather they released it when it was 100% ready, rather than rush it out a few hours early with bugs.

Yup. That is why I won't be back after this season. It won't hurt their business but I'm not supporting this type of service.

I swore that after the debacle with people who got shafted with the free episode of Back To The Future that they had lost my custom. I returned when Walking Dead was released against my better judgement but after this series has ended I'll be going back to my original plan.

Every single episode of this series has been the same for PC owners. Right to the wire on the stated release day, a day after one or both console releases. Wouldn't be so bad but us PC owners were the ones that believed in your company and supported you when you needed us and this is how we are thanked.

Maybe I'm blowing it out of proportion but when you work full time and you've waited all night for it when the dev team could have clarified this hours ago but now have to wait another 15 or so hours before you can play you start to get a bit brassed off.

You do realize that it has always been a release in PST and people outside of America have almost always have that problem... and for waste of space? Really? Would you rather Telltale NOT tell us anything and have you waiting pointlessly instead of telling you that you can go off and sleep instead of waiting pointlessly for it?

You are indeed. If you can't stand waiting for the episodes buy the game when the last episode has been released.

There's a difference between being annoyed and wanting better service (and rightfully so) and then acting in a rude and disrespectful manner. You're overreacting though I understand why you are annoyed if you read my post above. However the game is coming today and while Telltale could have communicated better with the community they did hit the date they announced so we can't fault them much there.

Try calming down and finding a way to get your point across without reducing yourself to insults and feet stamping. This does absolutely nothing because I doubt Telltale wants to listen to someone talk to them like that. Instead try getting your point across in a calm manner and I'm sure people will be more likely to agree with you instead of getting upset with how upset you are.

Timezone converters are your friend! The community is often willing to help with timezone translation too... just let us know the major city you're closest to.

I'm just asking this: Can't they simply upload the game to PSN, XBOXLIVE and Steam servers and arrange it so that they will be unlocked and available at the exact same time? Like upload the file and click "publish on date:xx" just like uploading a video on YouTube but publishing at a later date. I think they must have that system available on all three platforms...
