What is your opinion about TellTale at this point?

See, now that's a valid point. I hate that you can't get a solid release anymore. Most everything gets a patch later or a rerelease. That or a handwave and the game is left as is. Episode 2 wasn't too bad, but there were some definite problem areas. Epic Mickey was a pretty bad rush job. Nothing that they wanted to do was noticable in the final version. It was nearly unplayable.

Telltale has never made anything that bad, in my eyes. As of now they've only had one bug that kept me from playing. I don't mind release pushbacks though. They're par for the course. So long as nothing is ever indefinitely held, I can wait. I'd rather have something I can love playing than an immediate object in my hands.

    I wholeheartedly agree.

The state of the gaming industry has been depressing me for years. All the things that have been mentioned as well as the dumbing down of games. They dumbed down a lot of games to make them more mainstream and the ones that didn't mainstream well are gone for good.

You ever play World of Warcraft as it changed? At first it was a wide open zone that you could stumble into quests and have to read to figure out what to do, and then sometimes it took persistence and or luck. Over the years it streamlined, then was revamped as a whole to a linear experience where everything happened in a very specific order and quests were highlighted with dotted lines and it was pretty impossible to deviate from the way you were now "supposed" to play.

Games get dumbed down. Death is no longer a big deal. Nintendo Hard is a thing of the past. You could argue that Adventure Games evolving into whatever you want to describe Walking Dead as is the same dumbing down. I don't quite agree. I never want Telltale to abandon the straight Adventure Game format over it though.

I blame the prevalence of the FPS genre. The genre itself is corrupting even non-FPS games like Resident Evil or other genres. If it didn't have FPS, it was considered a "bad game" even if it was one of the most original types.

Fps's are suffering as much as any other genre. Its just that FPS's are easier for mainstreamers to accept and understand.

Did not play WOW...Not a big mmo person. I did play star wars galaxies though and it suffered from the dumbing down. Used to be an amazing and complex game. Then they brought about some patches which changed things. Wasn't enough to bring in the mainstream crowd so they brought on the NGE...That killed the game.

Oh and also played age of conan. Which was also pretty good. In its release state you could kill people well above your level if you played your character with more skill. Soon that was seen as a weakness and they made the game very equipment based....

that may be true but you can also blame the FPS genre for so many revolutionary new and amazing things that have impacted every genre in a good way aswell

This is totally off-topic, but I don't think that games that didn't mainstream well are gone for good. They're not being released by big publishers very often, but if you take indie games into consideration, I think this is actually a great time for weird niche stuff. With things like Steam and XBLA and PSN, a small team can make and release a game on a low budget and have a good chance of finding enough of an audience that they can make their money back. I agree that the stuff you see on the shelf at Gamestop isn't particularly inspiring, but there's a lot more interesting stuff out there if you go looking for it.

An example of what I'm talking about. Homeworld. A very complex game... They dumbed it down and didn't get the numbers they wanted so they closed it down altogether. The tribes series almost closed down completely as well, but someone recently bought the rights.

Absolutely, Amanita Design is a favorite of mine.

Yeah, a prime example would be State of Decay. It's like TWD meets Red Dead Redemption; it's awesome! And the fact that an MMO version is planned after it only makes me giggle in excitement.

and of course first person viewpoint is obviously a more realistic portrayal of reality than any other perspective, i mean i dont even know what my ass looks like when i walk, but i know what every 3rd persons perspective main characters ass looks like when they walk

don't worry, man...we all are. If there is a season two I plan on not buying the episodes until they are all released. I will never buy into this shit again.

And you are your average extremely disrespectful money driven industrialized game developer.

    Love,
    No longer a fan.

From all the bugs I'm hearing about though, all I want is TellTale to fix them.
I don't care when they release an episode because I'd rather have something good than a rushed release, but with all the bugs people are having in Ep 3 (InvisiDuck, Falling under the train and into the void, Corrupted saves etc) my faith is not at its highest point.
TellTale, mind patching a few of these :D?
