It's the meat of the story, how characters get to the end, that's interesting. Everyone seems to be focusing on the final result, which isn't what a game, or book, or anything is about. It's about the ride there. You can save Doug or Carley, and side with Lilly over Kenny, or try to stay neutral for as long as you can. There are different ways to get to this point in the story, and your choices affected how you got there. Most stories railroad you straight to the ending, but while we ARE all going to the same point in the story, a book doesn't let you choose who lives for another four months or if Duck gets his water or not. We have more control than a book or movie, which is what makes it so interesting to see how things unfold when you do make a choice.
not if you insult every member of staff in the restaurant, if people hate you because you have been a dick, you have a different experience to if you charm the pants of of every employee in the restaurant
Yeah, and all the spit that winds up in your food really alters the flavor of it

Once again, this wasn't advertised as an interactive movie, it was advertised as a choice sort-of-game. The only actual choice you get in the game is if Clem gets a hoodie, and if Carley/Doug get another 6 months to live. Your point of siding over lily with Kenny or the opposite is invalid since it doesn't matter. They still both always have 1 choice like Kenny threatening to not let you drive with them in the RV in Episode 2. If you were a 100% dick to Kenny he STILL lets you on the RV in Episode 3!
The only thing you get is unique small amounts of dialogue that will only change 1 thing in the entire season.
Trying to convince clem that its ok to take the supplies from the car, and then she ends up with a hoodie.
Then there is one choice where an action is required, saving Carley or Doug.
TTG false advertised this, instead it should be advertised as an Interactive adventure. ME3 does a better job with choices, and clearly the ending to it didn't do all well but still you could change the story dramatically from being a dick to characters to choosing between 2 people. Unlike in TWD where if your being a dick to a character, any choice they make will be the same as the next guy who was always nice to that character!

but the journey is the same, a different ending wouldn't even make up for that
I'm having trouble following what you are writing, I'm suspecting a language barrier here. However, the comment where you seem to be writing that they can hire more employee's, based on a whim, once again shows a lack of understanding on your part, about how the real world works. Employee's cost money in wages, benefits, training, retirement progams, etc, etc, etc. Companies only hire new employee's when they A) need them, and can afford them, assuming that their goal is to stay in business. I'll be the first to fault TT about their slow relase of the chapters of this game, but the game itself is awesome. If you don't like it then don't play it, and before you purchase a game next time, be sure to read the reviews (more than just one) so that you can be sure to get a game that you will be happy with.
Yes, I am not native english so I am doing my best in explaing my thoughts. LOL I am not sure if game making me angry or people like you... How could I know after ep 1 it will start suck hardly? Or I should just see in future? Or I should know their advert is lie? So where was the reviews about whole series after ep1??? Or was there way to dont buy whole season? If so I would understands your points. I also dont know why are you arguing about slow relase would lovely wait much longer just to get game which meet my exception... Same in covering their lazy work if they wanna make it better (now it suck for me) from my point of view they need more workers and if they cant afford them then they should said 50$ for game and no 25$...
You must be awesome person in RL. When someone say you what he dislike so you just say him he dislike it because he wanna dislike something not because he has reason to dislike it. Just why are you joining disscusion than?
Did you read the original post specifying the topic of this thread?
I didnt found there anything about that people who dislike game cant comment. Also I mostly just tried to explain why could be so much people angry. And tried to find out why likers have to keep talking insane sh*ts on dislikers. Anyway arguing that people hate game because they wanna hate something makes me feel sick from you...
IRL you can choose different to go out with one friend, but still end up doing the same things you would have with the other. You can choose to side with one person, and the piss the other off, which will have no affect other than their attitude towards you. You just don't get the option to rewind and see how similar or not stuff is. You don't get to do it and use hindsight to compare.
Some things do not change, and are out of your control. You could take go to the bank with one person, and it is held up. Take another person, it will still be held up.
spoiler:
Lilly doesn't change, your choices do not change her. She is always going to have the gun, she is always going to shoot at that point.
Lee/you is/are not the only one making choices that have an affect. The other characters/people also make choices. These choices affect your attitude towards /them/, other characters, and situations.
Trying to explain things, so using different examples.
BTW, I really like the game. I think the characters and story are well done. Some stories and games someone dies, and I'm like 'meh'. Who was that? or something.

Mostly mixing RL and game together is not good idea. Just try this: you have choice go to work or not to go? do you belive outcome will be same? Its depend on point of view.. you are right if you think about choice like "should I whip my ass with left or right hand?? Any I chose my ass will be clean:)
But, there is still literally NO choice besides 2 so far in the entire season. Everything else is just dialogue choices! Thats the point! Im not asking for a million choices, but you need more then just 2 to get by with your so called "The game is tailored by how you play, your choices have consequences etc etc etc."
So the numerous dialogue CHOICES don't count? The dailogue CHOICES that have immediate impact on the story and relationships? The dialogue CHOICES that have consequences such as Kenny not helping you at the farm if you DECIDE not to agree with killing Larry?
Sorry for all the bolding but do we all have selective memory here?
what sort of choices do you mean? Like if lee has been getting on well with a character, that character should should act differently towards other characters? Each character has their own personality, and makes their own decisions. If they are going to do something they will. example, I'm sure spoiler:
if you were given the option of removing lilly's gun beforehand, she would still see red, but she would grab the gun from the back of Lee's trousers, and shoot before he had a chance to react.
because that interaction between the characters cannot be influenced by the way you've treated them or anything.

Maybe just we just dont get same feeling like you from dialogues... Just try to dont answer any dialogue and you will find you are not needed in 99% of them...
The answer is Carley's death. People have gone out their trees cuz Carley is no longer with us.
I think it's HILARIOUS people are flipping and going crazy over her death. I think this is the reaction TellTale wanted. Getting people so hyped over an event in the game.

yeah what about the CHOICE to look at the tea set or the CHOICE to look at a poster, i forgot about all these important CHOICES

However, a good story is nothing without a good ending too. The problem with saying it's not about the destination is that at some pint the journey ends. There will be no more pages to read or minutes to watch. It means that you have to look at THE ENTIRE experience and decide if the journey was worth the destination it took you to. You could have the greatest road trip ever going to Las Vegas but it will be a downer if it turns out your stay at Vegas was not fun at all. You may live the trip, but you might as well have taken the trip to someplace better.
I will cite the oft referred ME3 ending only to make sure no one forgets it but more seriously to make a point. You were focused for 90+ hours on one specific goal (everything else is supporting that goal) and that's the one thing the game fails to deliver in the slightest! That makes the journey ultimately pointless.
I'm not as angry as some people about the lack of significant choice but I completely understand the frustration.

You going to work or not is like killing the girl in the beginning of ep 3. You make your choice and the girl/your job deals with it somehow.
Lilly killing Carley/Doug is her choice, you can't easily affect that. Just like you can't stop me from writing this comment, because that's my choice. However, when you decide how to reply to this comment, you might change my perception of you and maybe ultimately in some other thread, it will matter. You can't know for sure because you can't rewind.
As for buying the game, nobody really forced you to. You could've waited until the entire season is released and reviewed to make up your mind. You decide to follow it monthly... so did we. Whether it satisfies your taste or not, you will have to learn to live with... just like you'll have to learn to live with the idea that Carley is dead
Sorry for not reading every single post in this topic, but here are my two cents.
I visit many community sites for the games i like and as much as i love to see peoples sharing they opinions and discussing thing i don't understand they way to express they thoughts.
At first it may looks like many peoples hate this game after episode 3 but seriously do they ? I mean come on,it's still one of the best story telling in games in the last few years and because peoples come here to share they feelings about it then they little more or little less like it.

I cannot affect you is not same like Lee cannot affect LIlly. I got your point but person next to person is absolutely something another than person to computer to internet to computer to person. (sry Its probably confusing:D) You are also right that in RL you cannot rewind but thats why we play games to find out. Thats mostly what I expected from this game to see what my decission willl make out. About being fooled and bought game its not I am feeling like main problem. OMFG can everyone please stop giving me sh*ts about Carley dead? Its definitly not something what I have problem with...

Its not like I hate game in general. Lets just say I did highly enjoyed until I found out about choices...
No-one said it was something /you/ had a problem with. It is an example of another character making a choice. To be blunt, not everything is about you, the decision to use that example is not based on /you/.

I was joking about Carley, obviously. Didn't you notice the emoticon?
Person to person isn't necessarily different. Most headstrong people are really difficult to reason with.
Still you impact those characters some way and even if you think it doesn't affect the story it certainly affects them. Lilly might run away hating you or being fond of you. Who knows maybe in the following episodes she will show up again and the way you've treated her will determine what she's gonna do.
There are still 2 episodes left to be released so we can't tell what going to matter or not.

Sry, here is close to midnight and I am little over "TWD forumed":D Yeah I still got a lots of hopes in ep 4,5 like my choices will mater a lots of (still considering enough choices) so its still could be awesome game:) But mostly broke me exactly people which are saying the game is perfect how it is in way like choices doesnt matter...
Btw do you really belive its not different? Even they was together couple of months meeting and helping each other everyday? Also there was way how you threated her... I am not sure we can get same relationship thru internet:D

There seems to be disconnect about choices that "matter" between people. Many of us believe that the choices that define Lee's character are important to the story, they aren't to others apparently. How your choices have effected the other character's interactions with you while the story unfolded is different for folks. There's enough variation in those interactions to show at least some consequence.
It also seems people want the ability to always determine other character's fates. To me, being able to do so would take away a lot from this game, it would also no longer be a "Walking Dead" game if you could do so. I can understand people don't like this but it's something that's made me fall in love with this game and it's characters. I knew what to expect when I picked this up and to TellTale's credit, they still made me care about the characters.

My thoughts exactly. Except that you phrased them better than I did.
but the thing is, i make up stories behind pointless choices in other games but i wouldn't say they were choices that matter, like in half life 2 when the guard tells you to pick up the can and put it in the bin you can make the choice to 1) pick it up and put it in the bin 2) throw it at his head and in to the bin. 3)pick up the can, throw it around for a while then in the bin. 4)............. (leave and come back later)
but i wouldn't say that was a choice that mattered, or that the story was tailored to the game play

Oh yes, you're absolutely right. Putting a can into a bin has serious moral implications, it's literally no different than choosing to shoot the dying child of a man that's just lost his wife to a suicide or not. Seriously?

no, that is totally more serious, but in both none of the choices changed the outcome of anything, there were no consequences

I also like part of defining Lee's character, but it should have taken more impact in story. Its not right if everything happening same whatever is your choice. Action create reaction. And outcome cant be everytime same.
I dont need determine others fate I would just love for example if they would die in order dependning on my choice. In easy say like adding choice if Carley/Doug or Kenny's family will die in ep 3. (but I would still expection the ones I let survived die in ep4)

Are you really learning moral from games?? I am not sure you can take your choices valid because in time you are doing them theres no zombie in RL. I wanna see thinking you about moral when zombies come:D
There aren't known consequences yet. This was episode 3 of 5.
yeah, and i still have hope that there will be more consequences, but if we use a different example like choosing to try and save larry or not, or saving doug or carley, none of these things made the slightest difference to anything anybody did or the direction of the main story

There are still 2 episodes left to be released so we can't tell what going to matter or not.

You decide to follow it monthly... so did we. Whether it satisfies your taste or not, you will have to learn to live with... just like you'll have to learn to live with the idea that Carley is dead
he was clearly talking to me.. so whats your problem omg? (it was really hard to stay calm)
Except that you phrased them better than I did.
but i wouldn't say that was a choice that mattered, or that the story was tailored to the game play
There aren't known consequences yet. This was episode 3 of 5.
Are you really learning moral from games?? I am not sure you can take your choices valid because in time you are doing them theres no zombie in RL. I wanna see thinking you about moral when zombies come:D
yeah, and i still have hope that there will be more consequences, but if we use a different example like choosing to try and save larry or not, or saving doug or carley, none of these things made the slightest difference to anything anybody did or the direction of the main story
It goes both ways. Those of us who like the game get tired of this crap, so the feeling is mutual.
