    Kingdom Hearts 2.

I got bored in the starting town and stopped playing altogether. Probably won't get back into it again.

I must admit that KH 2 had a VERY slow startup and pointless tutorial to the game.

I liked how KH 1 started more.
Tutorial level, 2 fetch quests, then the world gets covered in darkness, all your friends are gone there are creatures everywhere trying to kill you as your sword does nothing, as you find a random sword with the only knowledge you have of it is "keyblade" as you find whats left of one of your friends vanish as you find your other friend get eaten by darkness as a giant creature from out of no where attacks you and hurtles you into a void of darkness.

Kh 2. Tutorial level, going around for 5 hours unitl you get a damned weapon, THEN you play as the main freaking character of the story as the person you were playing as barely is mentioned until the VERY end of the game.

I always thought that M.C. Chris said it best about Kindom Hearts 2.

I need to get the Pokédex in Crystal up to 150 so Stadium 2 will allow me to transfer my Celebi over before the battery dies. Yes, I have an original Celebi from the first event for it at Six Flags in 2000. Not for long if I don't get my ass busy, though.
Huh? Did you dump it in Stadium 2's box and then just forgot about it? I say leave it in there until you replace the battery since it's going to get boosted EXP. anyway when you train it.

Then again, that's one of the reasons I stopped investing in the franchise. I seriously hate how Nintendo is treating it with the "event Pokemon." Oh, sure, they got easier with wi-fi and the Nintendo Connect Gaming... thing, but even so, it does get rather annoying.

No, I mean I need to get Crystal's dex up to 150 so Stadium 2 will allow me to put Pokémon in its boxes. And it gets boosted EXP anyway because the OT is "FLAGSE" (Elitch Gardens, formerly Six Flags Elitch Gardens) and the ID is 02000 or something like that. Like I said, this Celebi is pretty special to me.

I have a Mew in the original games because someone traded one to me that he got from someone with a Gameshark. I got lucky with Celebi. Other than that, I've only ever had a problem with one event Pokémon, the only one that pisses me off to this day: Deoxys. They basically made it so that nobody who didn't go to Houston could get Deoxys, so my GBA Pokédex will forever be one short.

You can put Pokemon in the N64 boxes even if you don't have 150 entries. You just have to have 150 entries to pull them OUT of the box and into another, completely different game.

On an related note, Celebi was the reason I stopped playing the game. Mew I was too late for, but then the glitch was discovered and I exploited it to get my own. But Celebi? Well, let's just say they didn't bother stopping by any of the malls where I lived at the time for that one and I just gave up on the franchise. The new "event rare" for Black & White is available on NWFC until April 10. After that, you can't download it from Nintendo.

You could always cheat the GTS to get it.

Also, IIRC if you know someone that got it they can give you the ticket.

Anyways, at least the events are now available to all the world. You complain about events not coming to your mall/town? Try your whole country. Pretty much the only way to get the event legendaries in Gen1-3 was either hacking, or buying a plane ticket to the US. There may have been 1 or 2 events, yeah, but those were only in the country's capital =/

Actually, I think that's the problem. Celebi counts as a traded Pokémon, and I think Stadium 2 wants to be sure that I don't put in a Pokémon if I can't get it back out to the game I put it in from.

I have several Deoxys in Diamond. There was that GameStop event a while back, and even before that, someone traded me one long enough to get it in my Pokédex so I could search for it on the GTS. I just really want to get to go to Birth Island and catch that one for my Gen 3 games. I'd like to get to do Navel Rock as well, but that one doesn't really bother me so much, since I already got Ho-Oh from Coliseum and am working toward Lugia in XD.

And I did know about that, but finding someone who was there is still an enormous long shot. I actually made an attempt to use this, though. I looked for a save file online and tried using an old busted GameShark (busted meaning that everything works normally on it except that it doesn't apply any cheats for some reason) to load it to my FireRed game so I could use it to transfer the ticket to LeafGreen. Assuming the save file I had really did come from a game that was at the Houston event, it would've worked if the GameShark didn't insist that the save file and game cartridge didn't match up.

Today, I decided I should finish Animal Crossing: Wild World by fully upgrading my house and paying off my debt. One of the characters commented on having not seen me for 12 months, and I think I spent at least a good hour picking weeds. Riveting stuff.

This again, but change "Wild World" to "City Folk". I make my money in these games by selling fruit, so I figure I'll end up playing them on a 3 day cycle, with Wild World one day, City Folk the next, and no Animal Crossing on the third day.

Personally I applaud this effort and any other marathon effort Guru attempts and/or perseveres at. It's kind of inspired me to beat games I never finished before at all costs.

As much as I appreciate that, I hadn't mentioned a marathon (yet). And anyway, the only game in the Zelda series I haven't beaten before is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The only others I haven't beaten more than once are Four Swords GBA, Phantom Hourglass, and Spirit Tracks. The only one I haven't beaten more than twice is The Legend of Zelda. The rest I've lost count of.

And to be clear, I'm talking about the canon Zelda series. The CD-i games are out, as are Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland, Tingle's Balloon Fight DS, Color Changing Tingle's Love Balloon Trip, and Link's Crossbow Training.

I think Guru only ever does marathons as a concession to his OCD that is only ever defeated by wanting to avoid large amounts of effort.

Or maybe I just really enjoy video games and have fun playing through the various entries in a series consecutively.

When you actually get around to it go for a speed run and see in how many 3-day cycles you can 100% the thing. I think my record is like 4 or 5 not counting the very beginning.
  • edited March 2011
I don't think that's possible. The last time I played, I first made my own guide (more of a schedule, really) to play in as few cycles as possible. I managed to condense it as I went, as there was some variation in how long the temples and mini-dungeons took, and it still only came out to 8 cycles (including the initial Deku Scrub cycle) minimum to complete the Bomber's Notebook, get all the Stray Fairies, and get the Fierce Deity Mask.

    mmspeedrun.png

I guess I can see where certain days could be combined, but that would mean leaving dungeons in the middle crazy often to make events in Clock Town, as well as doing without certain items, like the Blast Mask and Big Bomb Bag. And I don't even consider not getting the Bunny Hood so early to be an option, what with this being a speed run and all.

So I finished Pokemon Red surprisingly very quickly. And I also transfered the Pokemon I wanted to Stadium 2. Off to finish Yellow, which I'm still trying to figure out what I have left to do in that game.

Apparently, I skipped Koga and went straight to Sabrina but still have to deal with Team Rocket in Silph Co. This could take a while to finish.

Your big problem is that you're not doing as much as you should in Cycles 2 and 3. Hell by the end of Cycle 3 I had already done everything you have in Cycle 4 and a bit more. Although I "cheated a bit" and got to Great Bay before Snowfall temple by "bomb jumping" over the fence. Cycle 2 is ALL preparation and whatever sidequests are already available, Cycle 3 should be multitasking Woodfall and Snowhead with other sidequests.

Police Quest 3, had to replay everything up to day 4 since I got something wrong earlier on (don't want to post spoilers), something I found very odd as I was very careful to try to get it right in the first place :o

But just done replaying everything up to that part now and this time I got it right.
