    Pokemon White:D
  • edited March 2011
I fired up White just long enough to attempt to get another Celebi at GameStop (turns out it only works for DPPt/HGSS), then again when I got home, long enough to download the pass for Victini. I think I'm going to let it sit for a while. I've got other games I want to work on without getting sucked into another Pokémon epic.

Got Pokémon Black and just started it :D

I named my Oshawott "Kenshin" and my Lillipup "Sameth" for obvious reasons :P

    Too many.

All done with Ocarina of Time: Master Quest. I'm not sure what's next. I'm half tempted to either play Majora's Mask or take some time to sprite Kakariko Village, but between beating Master Quest in under a week and my recent Ben Drowned binge, I think I'd better leave those two for much later.

    Which game is harder?

Super Ghouls'n'Ghosts or Battletoads in Battlemaniacs?

Of course the whole cycle part in Battletoads makes many a grown man cry in despair, but lets not forget that in SGNG you have the most awkward jumping mechanism, respawning enemies, and you have to play through the whole game twice.

One thing is for certain, my childhood was pretty cruel.

(I have been playing Battletoads earlier....)

    EDIT: Cross-over anyone? >: D
  • edited March 2011
I've heard horrendous things about Battletoads, but between the two I've only played a bit of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (it being one of the two games I got with my SNES a year or so ago, still the only two games I have), and it was a bitch.

Today, I decided I should finish Animal Crossing: Wild World by fully upgrading my house and paying off my debt. One of the characters commented on having not seen me for 12 months, and I think I spent at least a good hour picking weeds. Riveting stuff.

my recent Ben Drowned binge, I think I'd better leave those two for much later.

I just saw that today man!
That scared the crap out of me.

I swear to children that this story could make a great book, you know if they take out all references to the game(for copyright). I would so buy it as a decent horror mystery.
A college student is trapped in his room with just the game and goes through this game all glitched up to figure out what happened to Ben.
Then play the song of healing for him(ok one reference to the game).
Either way there are 3 parts, and I am so not watching part 3, Ben Drowned scared the crap out of me.

And on topic, I am playing Pokemon White. This game makes a lot of changes to the series for the good, one of which being TMs can be used over and over again.

So now I remember why I gave up on Star Wars: Bounty Hunter. I got to the last chapter (which I think means three levels in this game) and suddenly quit. It's because the level is extremely dark and the enemies are pitch black but for their glowing red eyes, and they're ridiculously overpowered. I don't know how the hell my dad finished it, but I'm half tempted to disqualify it on my completion checklist. It's not like I didn't see the ending or something. I even have a completed save file for it on my memory card.

One of the criteria I allow myself to disqualify games based on is if it was given to me as a gift and I didn't want it. On this basis, I've also disqualified the NES games Wall Street Kid and Friday the 13th, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on the SNES, Tecmo Super NBA Basketball on the Genesis, all three of my 32X games, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

I could also disqualify it under the criteria of it being my dad's game. On that basis, I've disqualified The Hunt for Red October and Silent Service for the NES, 688 Attack Sub, Mario Andretti Racing, and World Series Baseball for the Genesis, and three Call of Duty games and Cabela's Big Game Hunter for the GameCube and Wii.

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter was one of the two games my dad gave me for Christmas the year my parents got me a GameCube, the other being Super Mario Sunshine, and it was chosen because he was interested in it, so it falls under both criteria. The reason it's not disqualified outright is because I'm not sure whether or not I want to play it anyway, like I have with several other games that fit the DQ criteria, like Megaman X: Command Mission, which was given to me as a joke gift but I'm willing to play anyway.

I played the demo for the new Mortal Kombat game. In one word... epic. lol I can't wait to get the full game.

The demo made me go back and play DC vs MK which I still think is awesome. Not everyone liked it cause it toned down the blood but I still think it's a fun game.

I'm also playing Marvel vs. Capcom 3. That one is fun as well but I can see my self playing Mortal Kombat more when that comes out.

I'm also playing Disney's Hercules. lol They released it on the PSN and I used to play that a lot when I was little so I figured why the hell not?

I'm playing a lot of other games as well. I tend to play many games at once which is normally why it takes so long for me to finish any.

    Kingdom Hearts 2.

I got bored in the starting town and stopped playing altogether. Probably won't get back into it again.
  • edited March 2011
I'm surprised you went back to it after what I've heard from you about the last time you tried it. I'm sure you'd expect much more from me on the subject (and I'm sure you were dreading it as you clicked "post"), but all I'll say is that the prologue in Twilight Town may be long and dull, but if you get past that (which should be 4 hours tops for a first playthrough), the game picks up immensely, and as I've said before, I consider it the definitive game in the series.

But ultimately, it's up to you whether or not you want to go back to it. Hell, I just gave up on a game because the last fifth of it is "Nintendo hard", so I'm certainly not going to try to twist your arm on it.
  • edited March 2011
Kingdom Hearts 2 was very hard to get into. I mean, it takes forever for anything to happen. I actually almost traded it in because I felt the game would never pick up and become fun. But once I was finally able to leave that damn starting town the game got better. But then I got worried again because I seemed to be flying through all the worlds but then I found out that you return to each one several times.

I never felt the game was hard though. I mean, I could actually set the controler on the table and hit x over and over again and kill even the largest groups of heartless.

I'm still waiting for a real follow up. I'm not a fan of any of the handheld spin offs.

    Ugh, four hours of that?

....Yes, that's all I got from your post. And yes, I saw it as a major point against picking the game up again.

    You would. Here's my rebuttal.

Only because it's one of the many games I've got but never completed. Might do the same with Crysis.

    You would. Here's my rebuttal.

    -Steamboat Bill-
You know, I love Steamboat Willie. It has a link to a Buster Keaton film, and since Keaton is "the greatest of all the clowns in the history of cinema", I have to appreciate that. It's one of Mickey's earliest depictions, and it's the first to have many of Mickey's design elements; Which is, I'm sure, why Disney insists on portraying it as his first toon or as his "definitive" 20s short. It's a great short, obviously, any of the Ub Iwerks shorts are sheer genius. The main problem with the Kingdom Hearts game is that I don't really see a reverence for the era in the black and white zone, just a bunch of references. I know the distinction can be pretty slim, but it seemed to me like they were just throwing things in there without really an understanding of what it was or why it worked in the first place. I think this can especially be seen in the animations, which might as well have come from normal characters in the non-classic worlds. Timeless River should have an Iwerks-like flow to the animations, especially for Pete in the cutscenes, but it doesn't. It also doesn't help that Donald shouldn't exist in a black and white universe, since unlike Goofy/Dippy Dog, he doesn't appear in a black-and-white short. More than that, they were somewhat off when designing his "classic" outfit. I don't know how they look at a black bowtie and decide to make it white!

I wasn't trying to convince you to pick it up again. lol It's no where near as good as the first Kingdom Hearts so I would say that unless you're a fan of the series like I am then just skip it all together. The first one is the only one worth playing.

I got all kinds of new games since Christmas, but haven't yet had the time to finish any of them.

I already had "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands" for my birthday in August, but it's the PC version and I'm not used to playing this type of game with mouse and keyboard, so it's going kinda slow.

Then for Christmas my wife got me a PS3 with "GTA 4" and "Assassin's Creed 2". I also got a gift certificate which I used to get "Final Fantasy 13", and since I always wanted a PS3 to play "Heavy Rain", I got that one too.

Then I realized "Gray Matter" had been released, so I went out and bought that so I had something else to play when the TV wasn't available. Then I realized I still had "The King's Quest Collection" lying around, where I had reached the fifth game. That one runs on my older computer upstairs so now I have something to play when I want to escape from downstairs LOL.

Around that time "King's Quest 3: Redux" was released, so I'll probably be playing that soon too. And this week I noticed "Chronicles of Mystery: The Scorpio Ritual" was going for only 5 euro on Steam so I bought that as well.

And of course there are still the next BttF episodes, and the new Jurassic Park games.

I think I'm done getting new games for the next 5 years LOL

    (B&W Disney Response)

Meh, I gave it a shot. I feel that giving up on the game before reaching the point of playing as Sora isn't really giving it a fair chance, but I understand that playing four hours as Roxas takes a ton of patience, and I accepted long ago that the series isn't really for you anyway.

So I picked up Ghouls n Ghosts and Chakan for the Megadrive.

Both games are good, but so damn hard!

I don't know why, but for some reason I seem to be picking up a lot of hard games lately....

Mine has already died, so when I start that game up again, the first thing I need to do is replace the battery. Along with Silver and Gold when I start those.

I need to get the Pokédex in Crystal up to 150 so Stadium 2 will allow me to transfer my Celebi over before the battery dies. Yes, I have an original Celebi from the first event for it at Six Flags in 2000. Not for long if I don't get my ass busy, though.
