  • Well there you say "I GREW UP." you are lucky for me it bad I GREW DOWN. :((

  • Yeah but it wouldn't be Minecraft and even fans of it are more about open world than anything else. Playing a Minecraft game about story feels awkward. I wouldn't want to play a GTA story based game.

That isn't to say Telltale can't create a good story out of something that doesn't have one.

How do you think new stories are created? They all start from scratch. Only in Telltale's case, depending on what elements they use for the IPs, they may have some characters etc. established.

The Minecraft setting will just give them the building blocks. Zombies attacking, building, mine exploration (and possibly more, as I'm not familiar with Minecraft). They'll take Minecraft's elements and, as an assumption, build an amusing and fun based narrative (meaning comedy).

PS: Upon seeing your reply above, there are minecraft stories being sold. Then there are popular videos on Youtube. 700 - 800 thousand views, I'm talking about. It stands to reason if you like Minecraft, you might like a game with puns and humor based on it as well.

Well there is a clear difference between TWD and Minecraft. TWD had an amazing amount of story potential as seen with the comics and show. Minecraft doesn't have any of this. It was never meant to be a story

  • I'm pretty sure you can still tell the story of a GTA game and get its satire across without the open world.

  • They have 20 years to work with. It being a prequel means nothing.

No, they didn't. I personally doubt Telltale are going to make a TWAU S2, because it's a prequel.

  • I don"t know it would be like a shark without its teeth something would be missing. People only play Minecraft to build and explore the open world. No one is really interested in a story.

This is a perfect example of why people shouldn't be worrying about the Minecraft community coming to the forums - childish people like you are already here.

  • If you want to get technical about it, one could argue this company fell apart when Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin jumped ship. Every game Telltale has made since then has just been kind of meh.

Wolf Among Us certainly was not a bad game.

Jake and Sean were not the corner piece of every important Telltale game. As Vain kinda touched upon, Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse was also my favorite Telltale season. Sure, in terms of Walking Dead, I feel Season 1 was more sentimental and bittersweet whereas Season 2 was more nihilistic, but I don't feel that assessing every current Telltale game by the absence of Jake and Sean is an accurate way to judge a game's quality.

  • Here's one of the choices I think would be in the game.

DID YOU TRADE 7 EMERALDS FOR A SADDLE OR DID YOU KILL THE VILLAGER?

X% TRADED 7 EMERALDS FOR THE SADDLE.

X% DECIDED TO SHOOT THE VILLAGER WITH A BOW TO DEATH.

Yes, it's true. All Walking Dead fans are obliged to buy a copy of Minecraft or there will never be a Season 3 of TWD. They will have brought it upon themselves!

  • No one is really interested in a story.

No, it won't fail but inside i secretly laugh my ass off because of the absurdness of the choice. Why this why not ANYTHING Else? Please i want someone to explain the reasoning behind this choice in logical manner. I am a reasonable man, sometimes.

    Why not TTG Breaking Bad

Why not TTG Anything with a story

    Why not TTG Comic Storyline

    Why not TTG Horror Game.

We get minecraft. Why? I don't understand and as a Vulcan I can't live with the fallacies of the logic!

  • My major problem with this and more really the way Telltale is going is that it feels like it's just about the money and less about care and detail now.
    1) The gameplay - It's only QTE and dialogue responses, before Walking Dead it was long episodes with lots of gameplay, not much dialogue variety or choices, then Walking Dead, around the same length with less gameplay but dialogue and choice re-activity, and now it's no gameplay, barely any choice re-activity and just QTE's. They don't even need the episode system anymore really it's likely just used as a money grab. I'm wasting my time trying to politely tell people logical reasons why many people are upset with modern telltale because the likelyhood is most of you will still buy this and it's season pass even if it's 1 hour long and it's choices don't even pretend to matter...oh wait thats Season 2 of WD.

TL;DR - The reasons this exists is because you people keep buying these hoping for something as good as season 1, but they won't bother because they aren't losing money.

  • Wolf Among Us actually was pretty good. I enjoyed Tales so far, and I personally don't mind modern Telltale as long as the story and characters are good.

  • Dunno why anyone would call this the "fall" of Telltale since they're working on the second episode of GOT and TFTBL and currently developing TWD S3.

  • Why not TTG Breaking Bad

Well for that one the story if about walt (from what I know) its not really set in an special environment. Its just the U.S.

Fall of Telltale was sloppy, empathyless and showing lack of care Walking Dead season 2 followed with humorless Tales from Borderlands and "grab the money and run while TV show still hasnt jumped the sharks" Game of Thrones.

This is just another step down the same road of meaningless commercialism.

Oh, what ridiculous bullshit are you spewing out now? Tales was fine, your whole bullshit money complaint was rebuttled long ago, and I could say the same thing about Walking Dead and Jurassic Park being the road to meaningless commercialism, this isn't the first time. God, you're annoying.

  • Tales is fine, if you compare it to Borderlands Pre Sequel, worst title in Borderlands serial or Telltale games like Strong Bad.

Im soon to finish Borderlands 2, chronologically the last and then I will play and dissect Tales of Borderlands once again. But, so far I can tell that in major parts it lacks atmosphere of Borderlands serial and quality of first two games.

Well, that'll be interesting, as you may be the only person to ever say that Tales fails to live up to the Borderlands name, which probably is just you being ridiculous again, but can't wait to laugh at you once more.

You probably stopped reading game reviews ages ago, too, because its apparent Borderlands Pre Sequel nowhere near rates of Borderlands 1 and 2.

So, not just my opinion but opion of majority of true gamers.

    J,

You're giving him/her exactly what they want. Attention. :)

When someone can't understand why anyone would want 10 million cash, especially on Pandora where it's a backwater planet and there are psychos (as well as the wildlife) everywhere that make life expectancy low, that's when you don't try very hard to explain things because nothing's going to work. ;)

The person is rather amusing though, if annoying.
