  • RWBY Volume 4 Episode 1. Good first episode, sets it all up well. Good character moments, brings me back into the world of remnant very nicely.

I enjoy the new intro very much, different to all the others which is good. Feel like this will be a very good season!

If you like the prospect of getting punched in the feels, followed up with a genuinely comforting hug, you should give this a watch. It's about a teenager who can see yokai (which are basically spirits in Japanese mythology, if you didn't know) and how he deals with it and goes about solving their problems—it's pretty much a supernatural slice of life. Some might say it's a little sappy, but it's never melodramatic. I blew through the first four seasons, and season five has just recently begun.

I haven't explored a lot of anime, but so far, I'd say this is my favorite. I definitely recommend at least giving it a shot!

  • One Punch Man has become one of my favorite animes after I watched it all on Toonami. So much that I read the manga AND the original webcomic. (Eagerly anticipating for more.)

A couple of animes I watched last season were good. Handa-kun was a fun, relatable comedy in my opinion. It's about this boy named Sei Handa who is popular in school, but due to his internal stress/anxiety, he believes everyone hates him and comedic misunderstandings happen as a result. Some people weren't fond of it because it was a spin-off prequel to Barakamon, but I was one of the ones that enjoyed Handa-kun more.

If you're looking for something relaxing and simple, Sweetness and Lightning is a nice slice of life bit. It's all about a recently widowed father doing his best to take care of his little girl, learning to cook proper meals for her with the aid of one of his students. Very realistic, sweet, and sometimes a little sad. But good overall.

91 Days was easily my favorite anime of the Summer season. It's set during the prohibition era, and the plot is about a young man named Angelo Lagusa (now going by Avilio Bruno) whose family was murdered by the mafia. Now he seeks to worm his way into the good graces of the mafia families in order to take revenge. Really well-done, with a strong lead and fascinating characters (most of whom don't get to live long, sadly. Tis a gangster-style anime, after all). FUNimation picked it up for and English dub, and I plan to rewatch it in English when it airs tonight.

As of now, there are three new anime I'm checking out this Season: To Be Hero, Fune wo Amu, and Yuri!!! On Ice.

For manga, I'm reading Mob Psycho 100 in preparation for the English dub coming out soon. It's good. I wouldn't say it's better than OPM, but I do like it all the same. Can't wait to see how the anime turns out.

  • It's the nice part about having something on TV. You're not tempted to skipping parts, and you're almost forced to watch a program. Toonami has always been nice in the context that it can have you watch programs you likely would of not had interest in originally. I'm not a fan of super powers and super hero type stuff. I found One Punch Man pretty cool when I watched it on Toonami, I would of never watched it if it wasn't for Toonami.

Same story with Kill La Kill as well. I would of never watched it if it wasn't for Toonami. I was also surprised with it. Now that being said, not everything that plays on Toonami I find good, but those two do stand out as anime that I had zero interest in but watched anyways as they were in between other programs on Toonami, and found them better than the shows I was interested in. Now I'm fans of both Kill La Kill and One Punch Man. lol

  • I've basically watched all the good Anime ever made (much to my ever present agony) so here's some essentials:

SNAFU: My teen romance was wrong as I thought it would be (a real slice of life)

Code Geass: Lelouch of the rebellion (when game of thrones doesn't have enough mecha)

Mirai Nikki (to see the birth of a character type)

Death note (two masterminds and an evil book: a recipe they could not possibly ever ruin)

Persona 3: spring of new birth (so you'll play the game and spend several years trying to finish it, laughing all the way)

Another (this is what horror is supposed to look like)

Log horizon (this is what sword art online was supposed to look like)

Shingeki no Kyojin (the best anime ever, until you watch all the other ones)

One punch man (the only comedic Anime comedy in current existence)

High school dxd (BECAUSE IT EMBODIES EVERYTHING WRONG WITH ANIME)

Akame ga kill (Because in case the previous didn't cut it, now you know what shit looks like)

Evangelion (so you know where "it" began)

Cow boy bebop (so the weeaboos don't bully you)

Tokyo ghoul (The best anime ever made ever, do not open until you have thoroughly digested all previous Anime material)

  • Now now... DxD is a fucking masterpiece!

Tokyo ghoul (The best anime ever made ever)

    Read the manga then. Masterpiece!

  • You're wayyy too over critical on what people like. Adding a video about why an anime failed. Implying he's a 'dummy' because he doesnt watch what you do is stupid, and slightly rude.

Fair enough you're voicing your opinion, (as I am now) I respect that. But it's always an argued opinion.

My only actual problem that isn't a nitpicking whine was the fan service, ESPECIALLY concerning Shiro (ELEVEN YEARS OLD!).

  • Yeah the fan service Shiro was my only problem too. But it is Japan we're talking about here! XD

  • 5ds is okay, I like the monster designs a lot and the concept of the series. Although the story following Yami will always be just enough for me, it's a good enough story with a good enough end. I just couldn't get into the other series much after that.

I started watching Yu-Gi-Oh 5ds (I can already hear the groans of people here). Hear me out. I heard it was the best of the bunch and I like

Seed is sadly a very poor excuse for a Gundam TV series to be honest. Though there are a lot of reason why I say that, even though I did kind of enjoy it, it was an emotional roller coaster. I think they killed off almost half the cast by the end of it. Art style, story, was very bland though. One thing it did get right was directing, the scenes and music were very well choreographed in Seed which helped push those emotionally powerful moments very well, but outside of that the anime itself is bad. Then again, most Gundam TV shows since the 1990s have been bland save for a few. There is a reason they "Cut" and ended the original story line from the 1980s, it just couldn't go any further. Then instead of making "New" mech anime, they just made Mech anime with the Gundam logo thrown on it. So you get G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam this, Gundam that. It's stupid really that they do that. I'd much prefer all of those as their own productions without the Logo of Gundam slapped on them, they literally have nothing to do with Gundam outside of being mech anime, and being called Gundam. lol

But then you get stuff like Gundam 08th MS Team, Gundam 0080, 0083, Gundam Unicorn, Gundam the Origin and Thunderbolt. Which are OVA short series of very high quality, and actually very good shows based in and around the original 1980 universe. I know Gundam 0080 and Unicorn made it on Watchmojo's top 10 Anime OVA short series list and 08th MS Team was on the honorable mentioning. So in general the OVA series are very good, and pretty much the only thing Gundam that they make anymore I remotely care about watching.

Great Irony with Eureka Seven is that it is a huge Parody anime to the original Mobile Suit Gundam. The Studio Bones was founded by former Staff from Sunrise Inc who just got tired of working there. I suspect it has much to do with Bandai always meddling with anime productions, which likely made work conditions irritating and stressful.

To express what I mean about Eureka Seven, entire strings of episodes at time paid Homage to story arcs from the original Gundam TV series. Good example is the story arc revolving around Renton, Charles and Ray. The chain of events is nearly identical to that of Amuro (Renton's equal in the original MSG), Ramba Ral (Charles) and Hamon (Ray) story arc. From the original 1979 TV series. I know some people can get "itchy" when an anime copies another anime, but to be honest, I love it when anime does so, if they do so in the concept of paying homage/referencing other anime. Being it is very hard to get people to watch an anime from 1979, so that Bones decided to bring back some of that anime's best story arcs into Eureka Seven is a great thing, as those stories need to be passed on even if in another anime. While at the same time fans of that original 1979 series can go OMG Gundam Reference, Score!

So in short. You shouldn't dismiss a franchise because of one bad experience. I mean, it would be like saying Star Wars isn't worth watching Because of Episode 1. lol

I watched a few episodes of Gundam Seed back when it was on TV, couldn't get into it. But there was Mech Suit anime called Eureka 7 that I definitely got into (it was the atmosphere and characters). You should check it out.

My actual favorite of all the series is season zero, since it hardly involves the part of Yugioh I don't like. Card games! It had actual variety in what type of games they played and they weren't afraid to make it intense.

  • Finally home. Time to watch RWBY episode 2

  • Gundam Iron Blooded Orphan marathon on Toonami tonight. Though that isn't exactly what interested me to make this post.

If you live in the USA, and have not seen the Makoto Shinkai film Children Who Chase Lost Voices. Well it will be on Toonami Next Saturday if you're interested. It is lets say Makoto Shinkai's attempt to make a Studio Ghibli Style film. People have been calling him the next Hayao Miyazaki so why not try to see if he can pull it off? So he made a film that was like a Ghibli film. It's actually not that bad, and if it wasn't for the fact it was made by a different Studio, it's a darn good mimic of a Ghibli Film.

I bet they've been announcing it for weeks but I only recently found out about it. Though I already own the film on Blu-Ray. Just thought It's throw it out there for anyone who is interested.
