Hopefully the ship hasn't sailed off for good on this one, but put me down for NO THREADED DISCUSSIONS.
Would be sad to see the charm of the simpler linear design lost for good.
The problem was finding new posts in bigger threads. These were marked but if the thread was multiple pages you had to go through every page. And if you hit the wrong page first the new posts were no longer marked after going to another page. These threads didn't even have that many pages during that short beta and I still had issues finding new posts. Some of them I just gave up on.
I was really thinking: poor mods. Whatever will they do now. How are they supposed to find this stuff in a next "Whatever Is On your Mind" or release topic when there are 25+ pages suddenly and the new post is at page 15.
The new forum is a huge step backwards. It's worse than I ever imagined it would be. I do all my commenting from my phone. And the new forum is almost totally unusable with an iPhone. The previous and vastly superior forum worked great on an iPhone, even in dull desktop mode. This new forum doesn't center properly and doesn't let you zoom in easily to make the font bigger.
Telltale destroyed a great thing, I'm sorry to say. So much personal and charm has been lost. Where are all the signatures? Who's idea was it to so this?

Full desktop view, that is. Not "dull"
Ugh, I HATE the new forum. Is this some kind of sick joke?
*Whose, personality. Ugh.
Autocorrect hard to use while on this forum.
Well, you can filter the threads by "general discussion," "story (spoiler) discussion," and "hints and help" with the box in the top right-hand corner. Still, not really that obvious at first glance and far less user-friendly than the previous forum formatting. I'm anticipating that the mods are going to have quite a bit of thread-moving to do in the future.
I feel sorry for the mods, this is going to be a mess, I feel like the SS TTG got rid by a huge Rouge Wave and is slowly sinking, and people are jumping ship every minute, they are all swimming to different islands where they start living there own lives, remembering the SS TTG but never being able to set foot on it again.
You only joined earlier this year. Imagine how this is like to folks who have been here for 3+ years and formed deep lasting relationships with each other.

There is TEH one mod tool. The b-hammer. I won't say it's all we need. But I'm looking forward to an opportunity to test if that one thing in this forum DOES work.
I would probably guess it doesn't work, and it has a new "feature" that makes any user you hit with it a fixture of the forum, as impossible to remove as the nested posting.
It would be pure irony if this was the forum in which we could ban ourselves.
(Guru, your first picture isn't working. Which is absurd, because the code is 100% identical to the second picture and the link is functional. Mark it forum glitch #1,030,201... /edit/: Now it's working! )
I would find that somewhat funny if that can be done, honestly at this point if anyone says x bad thing can happen because of x then I am incline to believe it after everything that has gone down.
We were pointing out a whole lot of things in November. Smilies, for one thing.
The time stamp issues are overwhelming. In the thread list, the last post of many threads has a wildly wrong time stamp, so the threads are all jumbled. Also, I believe everyone suddenly registered one year earlier than they actually did.
My rage translates to apathy when I attempt to post, Bio. I can't cause trouble when my browser thinks it's loading custard and I am unable to navigate, post and search with any real ease. AND THE BEIGE...........
I know that feel, my fingers feel like crap, just so you know the new forum does not have that problem, and sorry to anyone who thinks I am spamming this message everywhere, it was not my idea.

Yeah, apparently there aren't any mod tools.

I don't think they can, which is scary because if anyone does anything here, they will soon figure out they have immunity to anything, we don't even know if the almighty ban hammer works, we need to test it out.

Yep. Over half a dozen of us already (including but not limited to Guru, Vain, Jennifer, Dashing, Fawful, Marsden, Mortis, flesk and myself) are over at the Double Fine off-topic forum already filling it up with replies, and one increasingly lengthy TTG refugee thread.
I'm going to make a Pancakes thread over there later today if someone else doesn't beat me to it.
Whenever a new comment gets posted in a thread that I posted in earlier, it shows up as a notification in my feed...Leading me to think someone sent me a PM or something.
If it all goes wrong, I can just recreate this new community experience by wearing a giant burlap sack on my head, attaching some bells, whistles and other tat, and smack the shit out of my laptop.

Just thought I would bump this up since you know, new forums and all that.
How to improve this place? Get rid of it and put a proper forum in it's place, something like from phbBB or Vanilla.

I am so sorry about multiple posts. This isn't working on iPhone. Don't know how to delete or edit.
Due to the merging of the Spoilers sub-forum and the general discussion sub-forum of TWD, there seems to be more than a dozen stickies at the top...

It's like they tore down the old ballroom to put up some flashy business no one really wanted. Fuck I just realized this is forum gentrification.
yeah, i think the best test will be how easy it is to use for new forum members
Yeah, apparently there aren't any mod tools. So go crazy! The mods can't do anything to stop you!
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
A NEW POWER IS RISING!
So it is pure anarchy, why is there no riots going on yet, I know, there is no one here to start a riot.

Because if it does not...boy there will be more problems flooding the system.

Old TTG ban hammer:
New TTG ban hammer:
If the other mod tools are anything to go by, this may not be entirely inaccurate.

Here's a great one.
I mean, really? This was a problem we pointed out during the beta in February. And the beta in November.

Great, so it now believes that Hero joined a year before the forums was even made, great.

So Mods can't even lock, delete, or move any threads?
lock - no, delete - yes, move - yes.
My suggestion on how to improve the forums: Scrap the whole thing and just buy the newest vBulletin thingamajob.
Fuck, yeah.
I don't think they can, which is scary because if anyone does anything here, they will soon figure out they have immunity to anything, we don't even know if the almighty ban hammer works, we need to test it out.
Volunteers?
Well I won't sadly, maybe someone should make a new account and test that, no loss right?

This is frustrating.
I'd volunteer as tribute or whatever.
