Because I keep forgetting this, and the new forums only let you make edits for a brief period of time after the initial posting, enjoy some DLC for Strike Suit Zero. Raptor is available for the launch price of $1.49, and Heroes of the Fleet is available for the launch price of $3.49. And now, your regularly scheduled weekend deal. You can get almost all the Daedalic titles for 60% off. The only one you can't get is Night of the Rabbit, that one only has a 40% discount. This is not a stacking promo, where buying all of them gets you the 60% off; all but one of the titles is 60% off, and the one that isn't is 40% off.
Also, you forgot about the reason we've got the big deals going on. It's GOG's 5th birthday! For the next 5 weeks, expect deals, contests, gifts and the Grand Finale in the middle of October*. Get hype!
*Disclaimer: Do not actually get hype. GOG is known for a lot of empty hype. Temper your expectations accordingly.
Yeah. I am afraid until the Witcher 3, proper new games will be far and few on gog.com. Although frozenbyte could finally kick their own asses and release Trine 2 on the platform. Seriously, it's been long enough and I'm not paying more than 10 bucks for a game this old.

Really? GOG's been doing nothing but new games with the occasional old game thrown in since at least May.
Still not sure what I want from the pick 5 promo. Own nearly all the adventures already, and only a couple of the indies interest me (like Sword of the Stars).
You're in for a treat today, GOG fans. When we get something from EA, it's usually from the EA studio formerly known as Origin, or the EA studio formerly known as Bullfrog, or even the soon to be EA studio formerly known as BioWare. But on rare occasions such as these, we get something from the EA studio formerly known as Westwood, and they're bringing us Legend of Kyrandia. This adventure game comes to us from the same folks who made Command and Conquer, and can be yours for the low-low-price of $5.99.

Ahh, I knew GOG couldn't go an update without a new game. Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller is now available on GOG for the launch price of $19.99. This is a season pass, in fact I think it's the first season pass on GOG, so you'll get the final episode of the game when it launches on September 19th.
Thank God they're finally doing it like this. I can imagine that possibly even Telltale could put their Seasons up there mid Season - three months after the release of episode 1 could be exactly the right moment to get rid of the stupid DRM measures.
I will buy Erica Reed eventually, maybe even at full price. At the time, Trine 2 is taking up all my time and will be for at least two weekends to come, I'd imagine.

Is cognition worth it? I hated The Silver Lining and heard that Jenson was only used as a consultant for the game. I would like to read an opinion from someone who isn't part of Phoenix Online.
Got a big update to go through today. First off, two new releases. Volgarr the Viking, the modern take on the classic arcade style beat-'em-up, is $9.99 during its launch window. Next, the classic shmup Stargunner from Apogee is absolutely free. Finally, your weekend deal is 60% off the Square-Enix catalogue.
Hey look, it's a sliding sale for something other than the Dungeons and Dragons games. The Leisure Suit Larry series is on sale for up to 65% off, excluding Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded.
Another classic game? What site am I reporting on, GOG? Oh right... Shadow Man, the classic adventure game, is available for only $5.99. Buy it within the first week of launch and you'll also receive a free copy of Shadowman #1 from comiXology, and $5.99 off this t-shirt.
Diving back into the EA pot-o-gold, we have Privateer 2: The Darkening for $5.99. I don't know much about this game, other than the fact that this one is supposed to suck hard. Anyway, today you can also enjoy a 48 hour sale on the entire Wing Commander series. 1-4 and Privateer are 50% off, while Academy is 20% off.

Well, I hope I'm starting to see a pattern here. Today's free game from GOG is Flight of the Amazon Queen, another legendary mid-90s adventure game. Not sure if this is perma-free, it probably is, but you might wanna grab it now anyway. And don't forget about the weekend deal, which is 60% off a bunch of RPGs. Including such series as Wizardry, Divinity and Gothic, while including single games such as System Shock 2, Vampire the Masquerade and Septerra Core.
Your classic Gem Promo of the week is a stacking sale. Syndicate and Syndicate Wars are available for 60% off, or 70% off if you buy them both (or if you own one but not the other, but you know that). Also, the American Revolt expansion for the original Syndicate has been located and will be added to the game on Friday.
Because GOG apparently can't update all their stuff at the same time (and because this site still won't let me edit after the two-hour mark), here's another update for you. The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief is available for the launch price of $19.99.

I say get this, seriously. But only after they fix at least one uggo bug in the last episode, which seems to happen at higher resolutions and/or 4:3 monitors.
(and the edit time is supposed to vamoose, completely. Soon-ish.)

After about two hours of playing, I'd like to revoke my recommendation for The Raven until further notice. I ran into some considerable downsides, beginners' mistakes I honestly wouldn't have expected of King Art after Book of Unwritten Tales. Watch this space for a full review.

OH THANK GOODNESS - it was still free today! I love this game.
Shadow Warrior is now officially available for the launch price of $35.99. This significantly less racist reimagining of a classic shooter comes with the GOG-exclusive Shadow Warrior katana DLC.
OH THANK GOODNESS - it was still free today! I love this game.
Yeah, sorry for worrying you about that. I've since heard that the game was made freeware some time ago, and I doubt GOG would be the one who decided to start charging for a game you can legally get for free everywhere else.
Sorry, no free games this week, but enjoy some missing Bullfrog expansions. Syndicate, Magic Carpet, Dungeon Keeper, Populous and Populous: The Beginning now include their missing expansion packs. Also, we have new releases. We have Memoria, the sort-of-sequel to Chains of Satinav, for the launch price of $17.99. Yes, this came out a month ago and Steam and no, this doesn't have a German language version either. I'm pretty sure this is all contractual stuff, though I'm hearing bad things about Daedalic's current situation. But look, what does have a German version is The Inner World for the launch price of $11.24. Lastly is the weekend deal, which is another Strategy First bundle for 60% off.
Because it wasn't up when I updated this morning, and this is the first chance I've had all day to update, This Week on GOG is back! Enjoy the return of the weekly recap and new game hint, which appears to be for some kind of futuristic racing game.

Where exactly? The only thing I heard is that they were facebook-whining around about pre orders for the German Deponia 3 retail version, which wasn't even four digits at Amazon at the beginning of the month. Now that was unprofessional to begin with. But if they're actually WONDERING why German retail sales are in free fall, they're really just plain stupid.
Yeah, apologies to Daedalic. With their idea of international pricing, this is not exactly surprising. The problem is absolutely not that they are doing a German retail edition at 30 to 40 Euro, that's all good and well. The problem is that every single country but Germany gets those games digitally for about half as much right on release day. On release day, Steam sold Memoria for 17.99$ (20$ regularly) but felt no shame to ask 36 Euro (40 regularly) specifically of German customers. Seriously, that's a 160% price increase just over the border.
The deal with Koch Media, their publisher for the Dark Eye series, is that retail sales are not undercut by digital, where Daedalic is self publishing. So as Steam asks Germans for the actual German retail price, the game can be delivered with German language, gog gets a later release, far far faaar cheaper internationally, but without the German voices so the edition is next to worthless to the main target country of the game. I understand the publisher, but find the practice in this certainly extreme form questionable.
Says nothing about the success of Memoria, though, which met with pretty raving reviews when it came out, and says nothing about Deponia 3, which will undoubtedly sell well both in Germany and internationally. It does say something about Daedalic having to get their shit together though.

Well, hopefully when Deponia 3 is out, whatever contract they've signed will be over and done with and they'll Kickstart their next project, because working with an external publisher and distributor is killing their reputation.

A New Beginning for four bucks is basically stealing.
It's been as cheap as $2 on GOG as part of a "pick 5, get 80% off" promo.
Yeah, that's where I got it.
Seven days 80% off... on SOME games... IF you pick five.
Not the greatest of deals, and not exactly compensation for the lack of new games.
Then again, yet another deal: System Shock 2 at 75% off. That at least counts as 'deal' I believe!
Here's some links for the System Shock 2 and Pick 5 deals.

Speaking of GOG doing mostly new games, Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs is now available for $19.99.
Ring Runner: Flight of the Sages at 66% off is today's Indie Gem Promo.
Let me rephrase that: "new" games which actually look that way.

Just a heads up, Cognition is now finished. Episode 4 is available now, and is on an extended sale price of $22.49 until next Thursday.

We've got five, count'em, five games today from GOG, so let's get going. We've got VVVVVV, The Adventures of Shuggy, Gateways, Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That, and Escape Goat, all for the launch price of two dollars, which means this is the first batch of games to have a lower standard price than $5.99. And hey, the price goes even lower with a sliding sale. You can get the whole set for a whopping $4.95.
