Aw I was looking forward to playing in the afternoon :(
I guess I can't help it, thanks for the info though, better than having us wait and then it doesn't come. Now I'll look forward to tomorrow morning instead... ;)

And, it's not really a delay. It will still be released on the 8th PST. They're just telling people that it won't be first thing PST.
Well, here in Italy it is technically a delay, since is being released the day after the one scheduled. :p
  • edited December 2009
Well technically the release date has always been listed as 8 Dec. PST. :p

No, it's not. They've always said the 8th PST. They've never said it would be the 8th everywhere. That's why they specified a timezone.
  • edited December 2009
Exactly and the 8th PST runs from 08:00 GMT 08 Dec. - 07:59 GMT 09 Dec.

    I stand corrected. :P

What ? A week overdue and now this ? No pirate god for me the 8th.... This game has been nothing but delays and frustration and oh yeah, the odd 4 hours of play every once in a while....

Note to self : never buy a game in the middle of development again....

I AGREE ive grown up on the MI games and thought the original death of the game was unwarranted great game great plot funny quirky and great development team but this whole coming out chapter by chapter bit has killed a small part of the fan in me. deadline frustration, timezone checking, and long nights awake waiting for a release all for 4 - 5 hours MAYBE if i take my time on puzzles.

Even if each episode takes you 3 hours that's still about 15 hours total gameplay. Compare that to The Secret of Monkey Island with less than 1 hour gameplay (if you already know your way around, it can take longer, but then again so can each episode).

Essentially the chapters are no different than the "Part"s in every single previous MI game, only instead of waiting for 6 months to get the "full" game, we got it piece by piece. Sounds good to me, and if you've got a problem with getting your funk on with the Threepmeister five months sooner at the sake of having it come in pieces, sounds personal to me.

Well, I've written my review of the game, which you can find here:

If I shouldn't be posting this, then please delete the post.

BTW there might be spoilers as to who you play, etc. so enter with caution.

just tired of the delays. and perhaps someday if they decide to come out with more MI which i hope they do. They revamp their release system to be an on the dot date and time.

I'm glad this game won't be release until the evening..

.. if it was released in the morning, I'd play it all day, get zero work done and probably get fired from my job. Thanks telltale for looking out for me!

I honestly don't see how. When I raced today, I never stopped moving, did fairly little backtracking, had the text speed at maximum, and still clocked in at nearly three and a half hours. I mean I didn't skip dialogue or cutscenes, but there's not two and a half hours worth of that. Icedhope knows the game better than I do and got a similar result.

On the contrary, I think episodic gameplay fitted Monkey Island very well. First, it prolonged the gaming experience to six months, then it made cliffhangers much more interesting (think about it: in the old games whenever there was a cliffhanger, it was resolved the next instant, with episodic gaming you have to wait a whole month), and this of course boasted up the emotions brought by the game. You played a six-month long adventure game with an emotional impact never seen before in any game of the franchise and you still have the nerve to complain over a little "delay"? :)

Wow, had no idea the game was delayed. Would've had the review up earlier, but our site was down for five hours because our bloody website host's apache system went down, hence everyone who has the company as their host's site went down too.

It's not delayed. It's just not coming out first thing PST. It will still be out on the 8th PST as promised. They just wanted to let everyone know it wouldn't be out at 9AM PST.

yes....i do. Thus is the gaming market place and expectations. Statistically the best rated games and games w best following are released on time making all their promises. so yes i have an issue with the delays, fulfill your month by month promises or sell the MI name to someone who can fulfill them dont toy w my emotions telltale

It's actually pretty amazing how much dialog is in the game. I did a run to see how fast I could play it and it clocked in at around 50 minutes skipping everything I could (about 50% or more of the time was done insult sword fighting). Or about 2 seconds if I use the win code.

Ah...well I did skip dialogues and cutscenes as much as possible for my speed run. But I beat it in 59 minutes.

So was it delayed by a few hours? Or was the time for the release never announced? Like "So it's out on the 8th" with no more information.
  • edited December 2009
They simply said it is to be released this afternoon PST.
  • edited December 2009
Ok, then why are people whining? lol
  • edited December 2009
It was never delayed. People are just freaking out because it wasn't released at midnight or something like that.

Edit: Because people are way anxious.

:p People think it's some sort of ritualistic event or something and it will happen at the rise of the sun. :p

LOL. I hate when people do that. Be patient, the game will taste, smell and feel way better with a pinch of patience.

They never give a release time, just a release date. Chapter 1 was released around 4PM PST, but chapter 2 and 3 were released in the morning PST (IIRC). Chapter 4 was a bit later, but not as late as Chapter 1.

But, they were all released on the date specified PST. They just gave a heads up that Chapter 5 would be in the afternoon PST probably to avoid fifty threads asking when it'll be released (which will probably happen anyway). The problem is now there are people complaining that it's delayed when that isn't the case.

it was a it ll be out by the 8th....then it became it ll be out on the 8th but not till OUR TIME in the afternoon. Meaning who knows when other time zones and countries will get it.
  • edited December 2009
They didn't gave a specific time, they only said it's to be released in the afternoon. In Sweden it's from 23:00 on.
  • edited December 2009
I understand that, but thought that if it was delayed from being released in the morning (which it wasnt -- just whiners), was thinking that TellTale was leading people on the whole time :P

Come on! Telltale is not all-powerful! You cannot demand that they'll give you what you want when you want. Give them time and you won't be disappointed. After all, Monkey Island is a colossal franchise they're working on. (I'm not talking to you, anotherlife ;) )

No, they've specified during the day Pacific Time from the beginning. It's not their fault you weren't paying attention.

Nah but really, I wouldn't mind waiting another day.

I think the obvious resolution to this is for telltale to get up earlier drink a pot of coffee and two red bulls get their asses to work and get the game out and we can all stop argueing and start playing lol
