    Psst... it was Pale Man!

It was? I was sure Lena suggested the whole Yare-as-a-musketeer thing... Oh well, sorry Pale Man, you share the blame with Lena, then.

Oh, I know. It's because I wasn't seriously considering it until Lena convinced me!
So yeah, Lena keeps most of the blame. Pale Man takes credit for the idea, though.

    Definately.

Also, post more pictures! (of the plushies :p)
    So cooool!

pardon me if this has been answered or pictured..... have you made a Guybrush Plush yet?

Stop suggesting non-Rather Dashing ideas! She has too many already!
  • edited May 2010
Yeah, lots of ideas so far :p I go much slower than the suggestions unfortunately. But I'm sure I'll get more suggestions soon :p

I haven't made a Guybrush then. So far I have made Sam&Max, Phil the Screaming Narwhal (and his rocket) and Yare (not complete).

I'm thinking of making Trogdor. I still want to make Rather Dashing but it's complicated to make a pixelised guy in 3D, plus I'm feeling lazy.

I'm also putting off Abe, which I'm making for sure, but I still need to wait until I get the right colour.

For Monkey Island, I think I'd have more fun making a Tales-only Character. Morgan, Winslow or Human LeChuck would all be nice. The Marquis might be interesting to work on too.

I'd also love to make a DeSoto but that would take a lot of figuring out.

Really, I have too many ideas so it's a bit hard to focus on just one.

    Trogdor and Winslow. Do this.

I think to make Rather Dashing the best way to do it is to just make him flat.... knit little squares and then knit those squares together...

Hey, awesome idea! Actually, I might paint a massive Rather Dashing on my roof...

I would sew those squares together, actually. And I probably wouldn't need to, I'm pretty sure I could make each side as one piece.
But you see, at first I wanted to make him 2D, then Dashing (ours) linked me to that game and I realised there were other views.
So now I need to knit 4 flat views, then sew them together with stuffing in the middle.
But then I need to make sure they align properly. Which would take some planning.

I agree - making him in 3D would take away his most distinctive quality, even though there are other sides to the character. Maybe make the front view and the back view, then just stitch those two together?

Rather than a normal Guybrush, I think a voodoo doll version like on the MI2:LCR cover would be sweet.

Actually, I want to make some little skull-headed pins for Avistew's Yare doll. Y'know, for that authentic voodoo-jabbing experience. :p

And if Avistew then made a Rather Dashing plushie, she could stab THAT, and annoy the crap out of one particular forum member!

That's not a bad idea. I might do that.

I think a sewn doll would look more authentic (and more like the cover) than a knit one.

I'll be completely honest with you - I have no idea what the difference is between sewn and knitted, etc.

I'll be completely honest with you - I have no idea what the difference is between sewn and knitted, etc.

To sew, you put a thread inside the hole in a small needle, and with that thread you tie two things together (usually two pieces of clothes). Although when people talk about sewing, they often also mean everything that happens prior to it (like cutting the various pieces, etc).

When you knit, you start with yarn and long needles that don't have holes in them. You make knots using the needles until you have created the shape you wanted.
If whatever you wanted takes several pieces, you sew them together. Also, if you need to close something, you sew that together, too.

Sewing always implies having stuff to begin with, and attaching them together. Knitting implies starting from just the yarn. You can't sew with just thread and nothing to sew, and you can't knit two finished pieces together.

Does that makes any sense to you?

EDIT: crochet is similar to knitting: you also use the thread and knot it to make shapes. But instead of needles, you use a hook (crochet in French, hence the name). The process is different but they're closely related, both creating stuff out of yarn, while sewing is attaching one existing thing to another.

Actually, Avistew has already made a Voodoo doll.
It's not Guybrush Threepwood though. ;)

Please don't kill Pale Man. But feel free to make his life a living hell in cruel and amusing ways, and post the results in the blog.

No, I did. But I did post it in the pre-order thread earlier.

I still think you should make thebugthebug, as a memorial, since he probably won't be featured in any future seasons of Sam and Max. *sniff*

Well, he was hired by Satan, wasn't he? Maybe we'll see him again.

I meant we won't see him since Brendan Ferguson apparently doesn't work at Telltale anymore.

This Yare doll will be sent to whoever has the most posts across all "click and drag sucks" threads, for voodooing purposes.

Wouldnt that be Yare since he is, yaknow, the one always explaining why over and over and over again?

I had heard he just took a break, and will likely eventually be back, but I have no idea if that is true or not. Supposedly he did the same thing after season two, though.
  • edited May 2010
I hope that's true, but he is missing off of the corporate page. It's kind of a bummer to see talented people leave Telltale, but at the same time, a person has to put their career first. Maybe he just needed to work somewhere else or at something else for awhile.

Oh, are you still here? We've moved onto Trogdor, I think. Now there's a man. Who became a dragon man. But now he's just a plushie.

He's trying to get the attention back onto him. I know what it's like, you get a taste of it, you can't live without it anymore.

Also, I've started Trogdor. I have no idea if my plan to knit the S-shaped tube will work or not, but we'll only know after I'm done...

Man, if you could go back to the day you applied to work at Telltale and talk to yourself. Past you wouldn't believe half of what you could tell him about the future.

Probably, but I think it deserves special mention for Telltale employees, and Yare especially.

Actually, I'm one of the people who wonders about this everyday.
It's kinda offtopic, but I'd like to share this with you anyway.

About 4 years ago, I wrote an e-mail to a dutch voice actor, a man who did one of my favorite voices of all time (Huey, Dewey and Louie in Ducktales).
Now we're 4 years later, and a real friendship has evolved out of it. We see each other almost every week, and we really mean a lot to each other.
I think it's really special that something like that grew out of, what was basically, fanmail.
Everyday, I think about this, and it amazes me.
It's one of the most special friendships I have.

Sorry to get so sentimental in this topic, but the thought just popped up. :o

Also, I doubt anybody would be able to truthfully tell their past self that somebody is making a plush of them.

Which is probably a good thing >_>
  • edited May 2010
Joop, that is as random as it is awesome. Or as awesome as it is random, I'm not sure.
  • edited May 2010
I don't think I would have believed it if my future self had told me I was going to make a plush of Yare, either. I mean, when I was a kid I tried to learn knitting and I was totally hopeless. I stopped trying ages ago.
Being told that I would do it again, and make toys that didn't look horrendous, I really don't think I would have believed that.

I tell people this a lot.

Past Robert is pretty inconsiderate to Future Robert. He is not a nice fellow.

Future Robert would probably not go back and warn Past Robert about any of this.
