Back in ye olde days, I used to primarily use a blue deck, until I added I believe black to the bunch.

Deck v3 is now complete! :D
And its even better than it was before. Its faster, and it stalls the opponent a bit more, just enough to build up and power-up my token horde! >: D

Guys guys guys guys guys guys guys!

Curiosity, the new Mars probe, just landed! I was there! (not on Mars, but in the main convention hall where all the fun stuff was happening).

    Nasa_curiousity_first_images_mars.png

    MOST EXCITING THING EVER.

There were so many reason why this could have not worked. So many ways it could have failed. And it didn't. It landed and we got some nice pictures of Mars, which should be followed up by some high definition video. And the best part? This success might lead to a mission to bring something BACK... which is a precursor to someone ACTUALLY GOING THERE.

Also, I met Bill Nye and got to be horribly awkward and babble while he signed this flier that my mom picked up at the convention.

I wish it was something you could eat. I was always so jealous of the crews of the various Star Trek shows that got to eat all the exotic alien vegetables and meat, especially the Voyager crew. What I wouldn't give to have my own Mr. Neelix working in my kitchen. :D

It will probably be a rock.

BUT... It would be a rock FROM MARS.

That explains what he wrote on the back of the flyer.

Well... I only talked for five seconds.

The flyer now reads: Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Seriously, though. The Curiosity landing was probably the most exciting thing that I have seen in the past year. There were so many things that could have gone wrong, so many variables. And then the whole thing went perfectly. I'm still not over how perfectly it went.

I had a great weekend cycling in Napa, except maybe for the part where I came off my bike. :D

That was after the third winery... I used the front brake too hard (actually I thought it was the back one), the bike stopped but I kept going like a little launched rocket, ended up sprawled flat out face down on the road with my legs all tangled up in the handlebars. It was one of those situations where time seemed to slow right down and I was completely aware of what was happening... actually had time to think "haha, you’re an idiot puzzlebox, you’re going over the handlebars", and then saw the road coming up to my face and thought "ummm yeah this will probably hurt quite a bit". It probably looked pretty impressive.

I landed completely on my hands so they were a bit scuffed up where they mashed into bits of gravel, and I got a couple of scratches from the bike, but other than that it's amazing that I managed to come out of it so unscathed. It was an exciting part of a very fun day, and we had a lovely romantic trip to the supermarket for antiseptic cream.

    The only worthwhile herb. :)

But you really need basil for a good caprese salad.

Seriously, though. The Curiosity landing was probably the most exciting thing that I have seen in the past year.

Curiosity reminds me of the kinda heart-wrenching comic xkcd did for Spirit.

The probe could collect some dust and compress it into a nice handy bar. They could call it a Mars bar ...

Did the Obscure Games Quiz on the Escapist for a bit of a laugh...
You scored 100%, with 15 of 15 correct!

You're currently ranked 3rd out of 1719 total entries.

Krikeydoolie! I never expected I'd score that high! XD

How are you supposed to get to #1? Did you miss the secret bonus level? :p

Heh. A mod is at the top spot on the Quiz. With a time of like 1 min and 20 seconds.

Either that person knows ALOT, or they were just testing the quiz.

Its ranked on speed. I did it in 2:41.
8 seconds faster than the guy below me and 36 seconds slower than the person in the no.2 slot.

Had I not been goofing around and trying to make sure I wasn't selecting the wrong options, I probably would have ended up closer to 2nd place! XD

EDIT: Its speed and amount of times tried.
So if you get the same time, then if you did it 2 times, then you rank lower.

I still haven't been beaten. I was almost expecting it. Its at 1774 now. ;p
(I'm suprised no-one's been trying to cheat on it. Then again, its not like its anything serious. A bit of fun. I'm really just suprised I was so quick and knowledgable about games thats all!)

I've been debating it for a long time, but I decided it was about time. I signed up for a seeing eye dog. I'm not sure if I'm qualified to receive one or not (my eyes are only visually impaired, but my lack of peripheral vision by some standards moves me into legally blind territory- also, I'm albino), but if I qualify for a dog I'm going to try and do it early December, since they're based out of San Rafael.

As much as I don't really like them, the proper way to deal with them is to just ignore them rather than giving them the attention they so clearly want to shove around.

Thats easier said then done at a funeral.
  • edited August 2012
These people gave their lives in service to their country. They deserve respect.

In fact people deserve respect in general. How exactly does protesting at funerals win people for Christ? Would Christ have protested at funerals, even Roman ones? No, he wouldn't. So, how does this help?

Seriously, what they're doing has nothing at all to do with what Christ is all about.

...Okay, [/rant]. I'm not trying to get the thread locked, I'm just annoyed.

As shitty as it is, we can't really let our emotions get in the way of the first amendment. It really isn't a good idea.

Christ and what Christ would do are entirely irrelevant.
