Hey, according to the Sun (who quote Steven Moffatt as a source, hence the spoiler tag),
Amy and Rory bow out sometime during the next series and the Doctor gets a new, as yet uncast, companion.
I've been seeing that news bouncing around lately, and
I'm a little distressed by it. Not that they're leaving, but that they're "companions" again. Their exit in The God Complex didn't necessarily provide closure for them as characters, but I think it was a sensible end to their time in the Tardis. I would personally prefer scattered appearances from them across the next season rather than forcing them back aboard the Tardis for a few more episodes before giving them a more depressing reason to re-depart. Let them go on with their lives and maybe just check up on them from time to time before finally letting them go, that's how I'd do it. But, whatever
Also, an American would have shot Hitler at least 27 times. The British are simply too hoplophobic. Either that, or the Doctor would have objected and they knew it.
Vaguely related tangent: why do the bad guys always get the best uniforms?
Yeah, that doesn't work because you've left the closing bracket outside of the URL tag (it's the last letter, the one that's not blue). It should be like so:
Also, villains tend to have evil minions to design their outfits for them. If it's bad, kill 'em and get someone else to try. If it's good, kill 'em and keep it. It's a pretty efficient system.
All the heroes have are... well, themselves. That doesn't usually work out so well. See almost every superhero who doesn't wear black.

Heh, I was just rewatching Doomsday on Netflix and at the end when he went 'And I suppose... if it's one last chance to say it... Rose Tyler...' Chrome crashed. The best timing.
I just tried that game out (you can play it now on http://www.doctorwhowit.com) because I didn't have anything better to do. I guess it's not for me. You walk around and complete minigames while there is some sort of (weak) story going on. You craft abilities and you level up and you can unlock avatar-rewards or something. It's also not fun in any way. Just a weird, frustrating mess. In order to punch an auton you have to... play Blitz through Time?
Oh, and you can also use your very real money to buy weird stuff in the game. Yeah.
Yeah, after the 'preview' I watched a few weeks ago I gave up hope in it. Still no good Doctor Who game has ever been made. It's the curse of the timelords.
I have high hopes for The Eternity Clock, though.
Big Finish have given subscribers to this month's release the JNT Memoirs, read by JNT himself, for free as it's not intended to be printed any further. I'm listening to it right now, and it's actually rather revealing. It's sad thinking how fans actually attacked him with bats on one occasion because they didn't like his time on the show. (There'll also be one more bonus before the end of the month, most likely an audio reading of a Christmas short from one of the Short Trips books. (I want it to beThe Gift, which features the First Doctor and deals with the Brigadier's Death, so'd fit all the bills to close out the year)).
I've never been so disappointed by a DW episode in my life. It was simply... awful.
I am not huge fan of the series, I love it but I'm not fanatic about it. Even so, I cringed at 90% of the scenes and dialogues and ideas and... ugh!
I know it has to be happy end... doctor who works like that, you can't make it sad for Xmas... but even so!! Argh!
Wasn't worth the wait
Well, it's a christmas special from an UK-TV-show.
I cringe a lot watching "The Next Doctor" because of it's cheesyness, but overall I think it's fine, since its all christmas themed, and the UK loves it's specials. I imagine that a whole different audience and expectations are in front of the TV that time.
If it would be a regular episode, then I would be dissapointed as well though.
Beh, the only disappointment in Doctor Who this year I had was the season finale. And that wasn't even a big disappointment really.
I liked the overarching plot of the finale, I just didn't like how it treated the Lake resolution as an afterthought, what with it only being 20 seconds resolving it before moving on.
I also liked the Christmas special. It was good fun. Also, it greatly enhances the last scene to imagine that the Doctor is planning to kill them as soon as he gets the chance.
I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say the only bit I liked of the episode was the ending.
Ooh, and the awesome new version of "I am the doctor" at the beginning.
Also, I feel that the episode was full of missed opportunities, like Bill Bailey and alexander armstrong were both hyped up as they are big names over here, yet were given small parts. Also, it's set on Androzani, yet the doctor made no reference to it (a line saying "No, no, no! I'm not dying here! Not again!" or something to that effect would have been pretty decent.)
Anyway, off to watch Series 6 (on DVD, as Sony, 2|enterntain, nVidia and Cyberlink are tools and conspired together to prevent my blu-ray player from playing the HD set.). There's an odd glitch on disc 2 where I have to wait for the menu to cycle through once before the option select cursor appears.
Oh, and "The invasion" is awesome. And Patrick Troughton is now on my awesome list.

Pretty much the best parts, yes.
I don't want to sound harsh about it... it's just slightly annoying sometimes to know the budget they have and how much more they can actually achieve!
Then again, writing for a show that long can be rather tiresome. I mean, how many new ideas can one guy have?
@Majus, even as a Christmas Special, it's pretty bad. Plot holes all around and I couldn't care less for the characters. Which is a shame since the actors were good (except for Harry Potter... that kid was annoyingly predictable)
Heres a list of stuff I liked and disliked. Only watched the episode once, so this is all out of memory.
Overall its safe to say that I enjoy the small things, and the overall taste of the episode wasnt blowing my mind.
I like:
- Star Wars shot at the beginning. I dont know. I cheered!
- The idea of the Doctor falling towards earth (but only the idea, the execution of that scene was not so good)
- Wearing a helmet backwards
- The Tardis mistaken for a real police box (I was waiting so long for this to happen!)
- The Doctors reaction when the stairs were broken, and they have to walk upstairs.
- Moffat-Thing #1: Christmas tree balls are eggs! I wonder how many Kids were looking at their christmas tree at that moment. I love these kind of real-life-ideas (I dont know how to explain... but you know, Moffat-stuff. Shadows, Angel-statues...)
- Moffat-Thing #2: Footsteps getting bigger. Something you wont find in real life, but I look closer at footsteps from now on.
- The concept of a dark, tall tower, being trapped at the upper end, and a creepy tree-king is stomping towards you. (Again, but only the idea. Overall everything is so rushed that you cant "feel" that one moment, and it turns out to be "just" a scene connection another.
- These three yellow dudes. Was the scene were we laughed the most (Bill Bailey, yay! But their role was unexpectecly small.)
- The final scene with Amy and Rory. Many nice moments between them, and very funny when he heard that River told their parents about that secret . Tear was maybe a bit too much (didnt Eleven remember that his predecessor cried buckets?), but hey! Whatever dudes, christmas!
- Amy shoots the doctor with a water gun. Nice revenge there (watch "Fires of Pompeii")
I not so like:
- There doesnt seem to be a real camera- and cut-concept. The action scene in the beginning was a bit too messy in my opinion.
- Keep the camera quiet sometime, it moves at almost every scene.
- Too much music, but they did that already in the series itself. I wish there would be more quiet moments.
- Too much stuff happening causing the episode to rush almost everything. There were so many good ideas that dont get noticed.
- Rushness also toned down the feeling of danger. I never felt safer in a Doctor Who episode. (Aah, everything will be fine at the end, I am su-- what?! Even dads coming home!)
- I cant point them out, but as Andrei already said, felt like there were too many plot holes.
- The special effects were bad here and there, yikes. Though I dont know how the money- and time-business at the BBC is working. All in all, there is never enough money and time.
There are some more things were I thought "Oh the cheesyness!", but I wont say that its a bad or not well done thing by the makers. Its all a christmas special, not another episode of Doctor Who. So I expected that they are following different rules here. I bet lots of families and (especially!) young kids had a lot of fun with that piece of TV in the middle of christmas celebrations.
it's been a very long time since he could cry for joy. remember, he's been traveling around the world for about a hundred years before getting himself executed by River, after that we can assume he travels around a lot, probably also with River, to consumate their marriage and stuff, so we can't know for certain how long it has been since he felt he was loved, or at least wanted.
But meh, didn't sleep too well for the past few months.
I forgot to mention that I don't like the idea of Time Lords being not used to Emotions. They're not Vulcans, they're essentially immortal humans with telepathy and are identical in pretty much all respects.
Also; the Doctor doesn't use his Telepathy often enough. It's introduced in what, the Seventh Story? And it's been used how many times since then?

I don't think its a time lord thing more a Doctor thing. Hes so old now and has seen so much its left him sort of hard hearted.

I was going to reply to your image, but I can't remember what the image was anymore.

It wouldn't let me do that for some reason, the system insisted on leaving the closing bracket on the outside.

I take it you missed the Eastender's christmas special.

It's been a long time since series one and ... I waited ...
...
shutup.
I now instinctively tap The Master's beat when drumming my fingers. Hell yeah.
Majus: The mod who waited.
@Comrade Pants: I'm sure the trains have been enslaved by the master too.
But meh, didn't sleep too well for the past few months.
