It's a platformer! Not my first choice of genre for a Doctor Who game, but it could work. And also, did she just mention
    The Master

Yeah, I never really imagined Doctor Who as a 2.5D platformer. Just doesn't seem right, somehow.

The Eighth Doctor wearing a stylish hat; your argument is invalid.

Actually, that looks like the seventh Doctor's hat. Hats in a hot sunny climate are cool. Or leastways keep you cool.

It could very well be the 7th Doctor's hat. Was it not equally stylish on him?

Well, at least a decent amount of RUNNING is to be done. ;)

I had the same thought. Running through corridors is a prevalent theme in both the show and the 2.5d platforming genre. The bits of gameplay they show look a little bland but the different enemies and settings could shake things up a bit. They could do some really interesting things with The Silence gameplay-wise if they're clever

But how will enemies be approached? Choosing River as his companion is probably a wise choice, as she will shoot if need be. But what about the Doctor, with a sonic screwdriver as his only weapon?

I loved "Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project", that was quite a nice 2.5 D Jump'n'Shoot. Same for "Trine", which I am also very fond of. Not sure if these concepts could ever work for Doctor Who.

I definitely saw some sneaking around in that video, which I didn't like. I hate stealth sections in games that aren't built around the concepts (Splinter Cell, Thief, etc), they always seem to suck. But then again, it does seem more Doctor Who than running around and jumping over a bunch of platforms.

You can vote for Doctor who on the NTAs, if you so desire.

Oddly enough, I don't really think it deserves it this year. Then again, given the other choices, I think it'll probably win by default. Seriously, no nomination for Sherlock? Travesty.

Yeah, I think that has more to do with the timings than anything. Maybe it just missed the deadline to be submitted?

If it was a contest between Doctor Who and Sherlock, Sherlock would win hands down. But I think Matt Smith deserves some recognition for the amazing acting he did this series. An award that the average person has actually heard of, having missed out on the NTAs and BAFTAs last year (thanks to Mr. Cumberbatch & crew)

Reminds me of a similar headline a couple of years ago. Read on the bottom of the news ticker tape "Doctor Who killed Michael Jackson"

Anyway, What does everyone think is the ideal introductory/quintessential Second Doctor serial? I have seen surprisingly few (namely The Mind robbber, The invasion and Tomb of the cybermen), and I have to say, I think Invasion was the best of those, but was more pertwee than Troughton, So I'm going to say Tomb.

I'm rather partial to The Faceless Ones and the Wheel in Space, but you really cannot on wrong with the masterful Evil of the Daleks.

In the audio department, The Glorious Revolution and The Forvidden Time are both good stories.

"Fury from the Deep" - the audio cassette version with the fourth Doctor's narration. "Power of the Daleks" and "The Macra Terror" are also very good.

MACRA DO NOT EXIST!! THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS MACRA!!!!

Also; the entire Eighth Doctor Adventures range from BF will be on sale for a fiver each towards the end of the month (starting on the 20th, a season a day). Of all the times to not have money sitting around...

    !
Right, screw my savings plan. Time to pick up the rest (or at least one) of the EDA's. Even if it will still cost £120...

Do you have a source? I can find no mention of said sale on their page, so I'm assuming it was in their most recent podcast?

In other news, I have seen all fifth doctor televised serials. Yay!

It's at the end of the most recent Vortex magazine. That's £35 each for the first three seasons, and £40 for the final season.

There's eight serials in series 1-3, and ten in season 4, making the seasons £40/£50 each.

Or are the prices you gave bundle/download prices?

IDW. "Doctor Who". "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

    I am seriously conflicted.

Hey, as long as it's funny, I'm down with it.

It's a shame I don't have any local comic shops (that I know of). :(

It'll hopefully be better then Star Trek meets X-Men (link to Linkara review)

I hope Doctor Who at some point punches Troi.
  • edited February 2012
I suspect Rory will be doing that. He likes to punch things.

I hope The Doctor pats Picard's bald head. Don't know why, just do.

I wear a comm badge now. Comm badges are cool.

Maybe The doctor finally took onboard Rose's suggestion to show some spock?

There was already an almost-crossover in an episode of Star Trek Enterprise. Wonder if they'll allude to that

It was a pretty long way from "almost". I think that RTD got as far as "Wouldn't it be great if......".

Not that, I mean the episode where they find a time-traveling ship that is bigger on the inside. That actually happened.

Question: When is the next season of Doctor Who supposed to start? ^^

Question: When is the next season of Doctor Who supposed to start? ^^

Sometime between August and October is most likely, then half season break, then Christmas, then a bit of another break, then the second half.

Four writers have been confirmed now; Grand Moff Tarkin, Mark Gatiss, Chris Chibnall, and Toby Whithouse. Moff is writing five episodes, which might include the Christmas special. There's probably no two parters, either.

I'm just a dude and I made a full episode in 2 months!
They are like... a bajillion guys over there! They should make an episode every 5 minutes!!

...speaking of episodes, would you guys mind if I put a big yellow smiley face instead of an effect that drives me crazy, because it's very hard to make?

I hope said effect is the TARDIS dematerializing. It'd certainly make more sense then it being a magic rainbow like in Time and the Rani.
  • edited February 2012
TARDIS dematerializing is uber easy to make o.o In fact, it's so easy... I didn't even use it!

I'm seriously nervous about this entire project, mostly because the rendering has itsy bitsy tiny big issues right now. The files are so huge, my computer can't take it.
Each time I load the project, it's loading 130+ Gb of information. I have no idea where it's putting it all!
  • edited February 2012
Would it not be possible to compile the video into 5 minute chunks, and then make another video at the end which is nothing but those chunks collected together into one complete video?

Or is that confusing the matter too much?

EDIT: My post count is surprisingly relevant to the topic of this thread.
