However.... we've had a "myth" moment in the television series this month, with John Hurt entering on teh scene, but the new DWM has something happen in the comic strip that 'explains' a major factor of the series from all the way back in 1963....
We get it you don't like the woman. If theres a day for each companion we can all have days of not giving a fuck. (like anyones going to turn out for Adric day.)
Damn It only seems like five minuets since he started. I know the new guy will be up the job and I'm not whining about it or anything but I will miss 11 a lot.
James Marsters for Doctor Twelve! The Doctor meets Captain John Hart, likes the way he looks and acts and voila!
Given Marsters' acting style, it would probably be hilarious. As in, he'd probably spend most of his time yelling at people for getting into rotten situations.
No, what Darth Marsden talked about has been in canon since at least the novel "Goth Opera".
They have a son called John
, which stems from some complicated fanfic written by fans-turned-novelists whereby
John Chesterton becomes a music star under the stage name of Johnny Chess - y'know, the guy Ace idolises in the early New Adventures - and marries, then divorces, Tegan. In fact, in the novel "The King of Terror", 5th Doctor-era Tegan briefly bumps into a bewildered post-divorce Johnny Chess
.
Incidentally, Bleeding Cool says that John Hurt is expected to reappear after November. So, might *he* be the next Doctor after all? Or, after he was mentioned in "The Name of the Doctor"... Michael Jayston?! Or somebody who looks like he did when he was younger?!

I really can't see someone Hurt's age being a modern Doctor. The show's so fast-paced these days it'd be a kiss of death unless they were going to completely change the tone of the whole thing.
Have Hugh Lorie play the Doctor! He can satisfy fans who want an older Doctor (cos the actor's age is now important for...some reason) and he managed to be fast paced on House with a cane so he can keep up with Nu Who.
Let's say the Doctor regenerates into a black guy. Idris... whatever, someone like that. What happens when he tries to do a historical adventure? Dude'll get freakin' lynched.
Similar thing if the Doctor regenerating into a woman. It'd effectively rule out a whole area of stories.
There. There's your non racist/sexist reason for the Doctor staying a white male - it lets for less awkward storytelling.
(Also, if he turned into a woman, would he still be River's husband or would he become River's wife? Gah!)

Martha Jones got about just fine though. Even in Human Nature where she was all alone (kinda) she only had to deal with a little racism.
She was almost completely sidelined from the main plot and was treated like crap.
Yes but that wasn't cos of her skin colour it was cos Ten missed Rose like a big baby. Thank god 11 got over the Ponds and didn't keep saying to Clara "Amy would have worked this out by now!.

Honestly, since she's from the fifty-second century, the place that spawned Jack Harkness and John Hart... I really doubt that she'd care one way or the other. Maybe they'd just call it a domestic partnership to avoid pronoun confusion.

Ohh that does sound cool!
Seriously, could I give less of a fuck?

There going to announce what the monster in Midnight was.
I think Andrew Scott would make a good Doctor.

Eh, who am I kidding? It would never happen.
Older?
Christopher Lee please
Make it happen SteMo.
No, not that. The other thing. Remember, I was referring to something that

Well he has been a doctor for 200 years...
And they still try to say that the Doctor is celibate after all that time. Pah-leeeease.

Tenth Doctor's era in a nutshell.
