Honestly, since she's from the fifty-second century, the place that spawned Jack Harkness and John Hart... I really doubt that she'd care one way or the other. Maybe they'd just call it a domestic partnership to avoid pronoun confusion.

Moffet proves this to be true.
Doctor and River like confusing people so she would still call female doctor her husband.

I say John Simm should play the Doctor if Six can look like Maxil why can't the Doctor look like the Master.
  • edited June 2013
Because that would be incredibly confusing. I really like the idea of Hugh Laurie playing the Doctor, though. I mean, the man is hilarious. Just take a look at any of his Blackadder or Jeeves and Wooster stuff. And with House, he can definitely be funny *and* smart.

But, having said that, I don't think it would be him. I've noticed that a good portion of the actors playing the Doctor tend to not have any real big roles prior so that the Doctor becomes what they are most known for. I don't really see that trend changing. Hugh Laurie and Benedict Cumberbatch are just too big.

Actually, I was just thinking... older Doctor? Why not...

    Anthony Stewart-Head?

Or they'all go for maximum controversy and have him regenerate into a black woman, and be in a lesbian relationship with River.

Hopefully he'll just regenerate into Paul McGann.

The eighth Doctor was actually the Eleventh all along!

That would be a twist. And throw time travel into a whole new light. Even the series is popping in and out of the time stream!

What if timelords regenerate in a loop (so William Hartnell is next, given the doctor is already on his 13th life.), and Rassilon created the whole 13 life limit to stop the paradoxes.

Susan is the Tenth Doctor's clone daughter's daughter.

Then we start getting into some serious shit.

Independent of the rest of your post, I still consider this a possibility.

She could have just shown up in the past, and said, "Hi, I'm your granddaughter" and it would technically be true so he'd roll with it

Obviously because of the one episode that mentioned a Time Lord regenerating into a girl, the next Doctor will be a woman. Who be be the female doctor? I don't know, maybe Alexandra Boyd?
  • edited June 2013
seems alot of women don't want a female doctor = secretly want a male doctor to take them as his companion.

some people seem opposed to a black doctor..= well not sure on that one lol
  • edited June 2013
No no no no no. Your logic is all screwed up. See, if you followed through, women don't want a female Doctor because then they couldn't fantasise about travelling with a cute guy, and black people don't want a black Doctor because that'd just be the white man stealing their shtick.

How about Whoopi Goldberg? If she could channel herself circa the late 1980's or early 1990's that could be fun :D (though I doubt they'd cast an American in the role).

Catherine Tate was a moderately popular choice a few years ago. I dunno, I liked her as Donna and she did do a fairly good job at being brilliant at the end there as the DoctorDonna. I'd totally watch her as the Doctor.

    OK, in sensible news -

    1) Big Finish have put up another free single-episode story on Soundcloud. It's related to the last one, so perhaps they'll do the whole set.
    2) Big Finish have announced this year's subscriber special (that is, the free audio you get if you go for a 6 or 12 month subscription to main range Dr Who audios including December 2013). The previously-hinted at "Trial of the Valeyard"!

(so, that rules out Michael Jayston on tv, methinks.....)

Oh. My. God. They got a cardboard cut-out of Danny Dyer! (who the hell is that guy anyways?)

As much as I like him, I think he would be too similar to Matt Smith.

I should be the next Doctor.

Um, no, I should. Once I've shaved the beard off, I'd be perfect.

Now River has gone I can be the new gun wielding sexy companion who shags everyone like Jack and River.

Keep the beard and you can be my master.

You could also play "The master".

Philip Seymour Hoffman should play The Master

The Valeyard sucks! The idea is great buut the execution was bad and he just acts like a typical baddie and the Doctor didn't even seem bothered by the idea he will go evil/
  • edited June 2013
Classic!Who drama never seemed to last very long. Moffat drama either, actually.

But if RTD had tackled the Valeyard... hell yeah. There would be drama lasting for seasons after that.

Also, I should be the Doctor. I feel there's are far too many Doctors who have succumbed to superior heights. Also, I can technobabble really well.

I hope it is Richard Coyle he has worked with Moffet before and he is very Doctor-ey.

I like to think this is why the Doctor uses the name John Smith.

I always assumed its because he's always off to new worlds and has a thing for the natives, like in Pocahontas

    NERD ALERT!

It's from The Moonbase. When the humans demand a name of the unconscious Doctor, Jamie spots the name on a medical container and uses that, and when told of it upon his awakening, the Doctor likes it enough to use again.

And yes, that includes retroactively (as it's on the First Doctor's library card in The Vampires of Venice).
    Wibbly wobbly timey wimey.

But he might have like it cos he remembered Susan liked the band.
